I was really disappointed with the video and apparently so were they. They probably didn't get much of a say in it. I think they were just told what to do.

If the band had control over the video it'd be a sell-out but nah, the company did it. I was expecting, being the epic song it is, something like a huge cathedral or forest yeah, but no it doesn't suit the song at all.

And Peter said in an interview that they had no control, they were just asked to come in and play the song while they filmed them. They said they didn't like the video but could understand why they'd make one like that.

Godhead's Lament maybe does that too, but definitely not any of the other tracks on Still Life. And I hate how they use the typical verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-verse-chorus (or whatever) on all of their acoustic songs (that I've heard anyway), but Face of Melinda does that differently, it never really repeats.

Well...that's going a bit far. He is very intelligent but he's also undeniably crazy. However he is really onto some things like the human race is evolving into less intelligent, women's lib or whatever is ridiculous after a certain point, and so on.

Whereas he thinks Nordic people are better than everyone because they can get in touch with Odin and Thor. Right.

That doesn't make him crazy, a little ultranationalistic maybe, but not crazy.

I for one follow Nordic heathenism, and he touches on a lot of interesting things.

Most.

I wouldn't even say he's necessarily insane, at least not in a psychotic way. His thinking for the most part is totally rational, if very "weird" by most standards. On the other hand he's definitely not completely sane given how deliberately and coldly he killed his bandmate.

I had that exact I idea, I could make the best video for the album. I can just see this man walking though an old town in a black clock not being noticed but he remeber the people as he walk past them. Like just imagine him looking at the inn keeper or something and it flash back to him cherring when he is banished. Or somehting like that.

I dunno - I love still life, having to interpret the imagery and story for yourslef is half the point of the album for me - and its definitely my favourite album.

I like opeth not having video's for their music. I dont mind them making a vid for The Grand Conjouration, but I kind of dont see the point of music video's, I'd prefer to listen to more music produced, than watch video's. Music video's seem to have become the "norm", and I fully dont see why, it's a nice creative idea, creating a video for a track to go with, but just becomes meaningless when everyone does it for every song :/

yeah, when i read what varg said - admittedly chasing after a fleeing euronymous then stabbing him in the back may have been wrong, but the reaosn for wanting him dead, becuase otherwise euronymous wouldve had him killed seemed perfectly fair
and a musical genius too!
