Trevo 03-11-2007 07:47 PM
La National, down on East St. Catharines.
Ok, I know some people who have played there, I, on the other hand, haven't because my band hasn't written any originals.

M__ 03-11-2007 07:47 PM

ben stop, im getting excited:evil:

BenJammin 03-11-2007 07:48 PM
That should get you banned, that is to beautiful to be on here. Funny,I use to hate pickup covers like those.,now I love them,I think that would be nice with a Black Headstock for some reason.
A headstock to match the top wood would be better, imo. I like pickup covers that are either the same as the fretboard wood or the top wood. Depends on the bass.
It gets better,I only like online though Single Player gets boring after a half hour.

It gets better,I only like online though Single Player gets boring after a half hour.
Ya and Single Player is hard, it took my friend a whole summer to get to level 30 not online, and it took my brother too weeks to get to level 86 online.

I love his tone.

User Name 03-11-2007 07:50 PM

Why do I suck so much at reading notes? :(

Trevo 03-11-2007 07:50 PM

It is, new idea for me too, capo on bass...never tried it.

Ting 03-11-2007 07:51 PM

Bass clef im assuming?

Trevo 03-11-2007 07:51 PM
Why do I suck so much at reading notes? :(
It's easier when you read notes on another instrument too.

It is true, like I said it all boils down to personal opinion.

User Name 03-11-2007 07:52 PM

Yeah.

I have to keep telling myself that F is actually A.

Edit: Wrong, Trevo. I play trumpet, the bass clef pisses me off to no end.

SlincoJ 03-11-2007 07:52 PM

I still suck at reading the bass clef, playing clarinet has poisoned me.

Trevo 03-11-2007 07:52 PM

Haha, I play trombone so I find reading bass really easy.

Thonk 03-11-2007 07:53 PM

I suck at reading both. :\

My treble clef reading is getting better thanks to my guitar class in school, though.

BenJammin 03-11-2007 07:53 PM
It is true, like I said it all boils down to personal opinion.
Well, obviously. My custom will have a matching headstop, and pup covers made from the same wood as the fretboard. So, yeah. :p To each their own.

Trevo 03-11-2007 07:54 PM

Hey Thonk, I've passed you...

Ting 03-11-2007 07:54 PM
Yeah.

I never actually learned how to read bass cleff. I have to transpose by sight.

User Name 03-11-2007 07:54 PM

Should I switch to trumpet from bass in my Jazz Studies class? It would be easier to bring a trumpet back and forth daily and I'd probably look less like a no-talent *** clown who can't read notes.

Trevo 03-11-2007 07:55 PM

I play trombone=a lot easier

Brandon_S 03-11-2007 07:56 PM

I played Trumpet in Music Class, and Bass in Concert Band althrough out middle school (not like there was many complicated peices) but,I got used to it and now I don't find it confuseing and a weird switch.

SlincoJ 03-11-2007 07:56 PM
Haha, I play trombone so I find reading bass really easy.
I have yet to meet a trombone player at my school who isn't useless. It's a sad thing.
I still suck at reading the bass clef, playing clarinet has poisoned me.
uhhh...i dont think so, ive played clarinet for 7 years, bass for 6

I know how you feel...And it sucks, but keep at it.

User Name 03-11-2007 07:57 PM

It took me about 15 minutes just now to be able to do the intro to So What. I suck.

Edit: yeah Ting, I suppose I'll probably never learn if I don't stick with it here.

Trevo 03-11-2007 07:57 PM
I have yet to meet a trombone player at my school who isn't useless. It's a sad thing.
I'm not, I'm only in grade 9 and I'm 1 of 2 students in the Band with the grade 10 and 11.

Whatever works best for you,you may be able to learn faster too if you are looked upon to sight read, just start with simple key sigs, and simple short peices to get through and practice them dailey for a half hour minimum.

SlincoJ 03-11-2007 07:59 PM
uhhh...i dont think so, ive played clarinet for 7 years, bass for 6
Well that doesn't change the fact that being used to reading treble clef makes me slip up when reading in the bass clef.

BenJammin 03-11-2007 08:00 PM

I don't read music. Makes life easy. <_<

Thonk 03-11-2007 08:00 PM

Phil have you heard the new Dntel?

Life Is Full of Possibilities just came on and it reminded me.

Thonk 03-11-2007 08:00 PM

I only read music when it's necessary, but I really wish I could read better.

Trevo 03-11-2007 08:01 PM

I can only read bass clef, don't even want to try reading bass on treble.

Thonk 03-11-2007 08:02 PM

Sorta makes me wish I played piano.

Killing two birds with one stone.

Brandon_S 03-11-2007 08:02 PM

At first I was like that, then I got forced a bit, then that helped me alot now im quite confident with it,and helped my sight reading alot. Sometimes ill just pickup random scores I have from trumpet,or any other random scores and transpose,or just play it if it was in bass clef.

M__ 03-11-2007 08:03 PM

definitely agree thonk. wish my parents were the kind that forced me to play it starting at like the age of 3

Brandon_S 03-11-2007 08:03 PM
Sorta makes me wish I played piano.

I just started takeing piano again a few weeks ago,its already helping with my ear.

Trevo 03-11-2007 08:04 PM

I've always wished I played piano, but i never have gotten around to trying.

Brandon_S 03-11-2007 08:07 PM

Do it if you want to,It helps so much, sometimes learning other instruments helps you get better at your principal instrument.

Thonk 03-11-2007 08:07 PM

I think if my keyboard was of decent quality i'd actually have motivation to learn. *shrug*

My hand independence is pretty bad though.

Trevo 03-11-2007 08:08 PM

I'm thinking instead of buying a new bass, buying a keyboard some piano books, and learning over the summer.
