Actually, (I thought you should know this) Santa lives in Texas. So does Jesus Christ.
Everyone knows that!

...Or yellowknife, whichever

Speaking of sitars, which is your favorite Beatles song with an unconventional (not drum/bass/guitar) instument? (exapmle: clarinet in when I'm 64)
The french horn in Because.

TerryThorne 12-23-2004 04:04 PM

bugle horn

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 05:14 PM

I think the flute in The Fool on the Hill is really tastefully done. I have all Beatles CD's, to whoever asked. I also have some Lennon solo CD's, and a couple Harrison solo CD's, but most of them are live ones. Harrison's solo career was great though.

Woodstock 12-23-2004 06:13 PM

Oh, here's a good one. The mellotron on Strawberry Fields Forever.

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 07:08 PM

Definitely. I know there's a lot of songs where they use unique instruments that are really awesome, but I don't want to look like a total idiot and say the wrong instrument...

Don't worry, I already got one wrong.

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 08:01 PM

Heh. Well, Yesterday is awesome, and it contains no guitar, bass, or drums. Nothing like a string quartet to make me get all giddy.

123. How about Eleanor Rigby?

clown_phobia 12-23-2004 08:17 PM

Elanor Rigby
123. How about Eleanor Rigby?
Fantastic song!! One of the first beatles songs I really liked.

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 08:19 PM

Yeah, Eleanor Rigby too! How did I forget that...? Stupid me.

Broken Arrow 12-23-2004 08:33 PM

I also like the Mellotron on "Flying":)

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 09:32 PM

As far as I'm concerned, any Beatles song that has a cello on it is totally awesome. Not that I don't think all the songs are totally awesome, but cello songs get bonus points. Cello rocks my socks.

Edit: I'm slow. Yesterday has guitar and whatnot. When I said Yesterday, I meant Eleanor Rigby. I'm just slow sometimes.

STP 12-23-2004 10:26 PM

I saw The Beatles do Yesteday life, and they actually did all four of them together, drum beat and all. It was quite good actually.

Favorite non-regular instrument. The Moog in Abbey Road. Especially during the first break in Maxwell's, it sounds so good.

Also, someone mentioned the French Horn in Because. Sorry, that's a Moog.

Walrus Gumboot 12-24-2004 09:33 AM

Cello rock my socks as well, but I can only think of two songs with it: Elanor Rigby and Blue Jay Way

Woodstock 12-24-2004 10:55 AM

Where would we be without the Moog?

DeusExMachina 12-24-2004 12:57 PM

/me feels stupid

When I said Yesterday up there, I meant Eleanor Rigby. Yesterday has guitar, Eleanor Rigby is the one where none of them play instruments... oops.

Kupo 12-24-2004 02:20 PM

Its so sad....I remember the day when I would just say John. It doesn't seem that long ago.

Walrus Gumboot 12-24-2004 07:11 PM

Mmm I hate people who hate the beatles. People who are far too hardcore for the Beatles. :sigh: People who say the Beatles are gay :sighs louder: long live the beatles

My sister got a book for Christmas: Love letters to the Beatles. I will write one down here for a little holiday cheer

Dear Paul,
I think you are very sexy and I don't even know what it means.
Your little fan,

Walrus Gumboot 12-24-2004 07:31 PM

Dear George,
Please try and under stand the I dont love you because your a Beatle, but because youre you. Now you are probably saying "Oh, all the girls tell me that". But I can prove it. I know that you won't last forever. So, I don't want you to call me now. You better wait till you frizzle out.
