So what is Hawthorne Hieghts?

pixiesfanyo 01-22-2005 11:42 AM

One time, I was out shoveling the snow, and Dfelon drove by and shot me in the knee.

Just because I made fun of his new haircut.

Pop-punk

I think I'm going to see Hawthrone Heights, Sugarcult, Head Automatica, Hopesfall at the Starland Ballroom. I'll just chill outside for Hawthorne Heights, but I want to see those other bands (yes, I like Sugarcult).

Wow 01-22-2005 12:29 PM

Hopesfall live = win. You lucky bastard.

There an acoustic band but they have Josh of Neil Perry/The Now/Hot Cross and Vadim of Marigold/This Day Forward. Check 'em out.

cbmartinez 01-22-2005 02:01 PM

Owned in a foreign language. You've done it all, D.

J'AIME the valley, OH!

tornpictures 01-23-2005 06:57 AM

Hey, guess what?

A new City of Caterpillar song.

SIKE!!!!!!!!!!

Wow 01-23-2005 10:22 AM

That was mean :(

tornpictures 01-23-2005 11:06 AM

Sorry, I meant to post the URL.

http://www.hxcmp3.com/bands/21028/

tornpictures 01-23-2005 01:01 PM

Je t'aime means I love you.

J'adore is more like.. I'm crazy about.

It has different meanings in different languages, though. In English it's like.. J'aim des bonbons. I like (love) sweets.
But in Dutch 'J'adore' means 'I'm crazy about' and 'J'aime' means 'I love.'

Okay, end of discussion.

Isn't Dashboard Confessional considered Emo?

GrEeNdAy_902 01-23-2005 06:18 PM
So what is Hawthorne Hieghts?
Happymeal 01-23-2005 06:44 PM

^nice username

grrr, I can't find Van Johnson's latest release anywhere(in stores).

cbmartinez 01-23-2005 07:12 PM

Hey, the list has been updated! Thanks D.

BuddyBigsby 01-23-2005 10:17 PM

That's cool, just glad we could open someone up to this genre.

BuddyBigsby 01-23-2005 10:47 PM

Wow, I really like this "new" CoC. Thanks torn...

srt-4 01-24-2005 12:32 AM

why do these types of bands release stuff on 7"?

and about a static lullaby, they aren't my favorite, but i saw them live and they worked hard to put on a good show even though there couldn't have been more than 60 kids there. and i think charred fields of snow is a great song.

BuddyBigsby 01-24-2005 12:54 AM

Vinyl is cheaper and more vintage and DIYish, it just fits the style and the ethics. And nerds like me like to collect it.

tornpictures 01-24-2005 03:02 AM
Vinyl is cheaper and more vintage and DIYish, it just fits the style and the ethics.
Which is pretty strange, because it's more expensive to press.

tornpictures 01-24-2005 04:55 AM
Wow, I really like this "new" CoC. Thanks torn...
There is only one 'CoC' and that's Corrosion of Conformity.

I am confused now. I was pretty sure they had broken up?

tornpictures 01-24-2005 10:56 AM

Yeah, but some dude found two new songs they played live before they broke up.

'Driving Spain Up A Wall' was 'released' over a year ago, I think.

cbmartinez 01-24-2005 11:33 AM

Thanks Torn. They're alright.

tornpictures 01-24-2005 11:55 AM

'Driving Spain Up A Wall' was recorded in a concrete art gallery and the untitled song was recorded in a house, that's why the quality isn't that good.

cbmartinez 01-24-2005 12:03 PM

Yeah, you can barely hear the vocals.

tornpictures 01-24-2005 12:50 PM

It has feeling though.

BuddyBigsby 01-24-2005 01:35 PM

Fuck you torn, I try to be nice to you and you're still a prick. You got me on the vinyl, and I use CoC for both bands, so suck it.

Whoah man, calm down.
I didn't mean anything by it.

Good to see you've finally started buying records instead of CD's.

It isn't that much trouble typing out' City of Caterpillar' is there?

BuddyBigsby 01-24-2005 02:35 PM

I buy both. And yes, it IS that much trouble. I'm very much an acronym man.

tornpictures 01-25-2005 02:44 AM

SoulSeek.

Sep 01-25-2005 05:27 AM

Torn, weren't you in a screamo band before? If so, would you like to send me some songs over MSN (super_flying_turbo_ninja@hotmail.com) or do you have a link where I can download some?

And what are scene points?

Sep 01-25-2005 06:24 AM

Also Torn, where in Holland do you get your emo/screamo albums? (what shops)

tornpictures 01-25-2005 09:30 AM

Scene points are fun for internet hardcore kids.

I'll see if I can find some mp3's.. if I can't, search for 'Reach Out' on SoulSeek. We did an s/t 7" and a split 7" with Honeywell, among others.

I get records at Independent Outlet in Amsterdam (www.outlet.nl - I hate the people that work there though, big selection of records, just mostly Fat Wreck Chords stuff and Epitaph.) Distortion records in Amsterdam (www.distortion.nl - AWESOME!).. Platenworm in Groningen, www.platenworm.nl.

And US and Euro mailorder sites.

Special Brew 01-25-2005 11:38 AM

Where can I find a good amount of Screamo/emo band tabs? I searched MX and some other sites for City Of Caterpillar, Circle Takes The Square and Fear Before Before The March Of Flames and I can only find tabs for a few songs. Not enough to really study. I study techniques that find in tabs so I can figure out patterns and chords and such so I can learn taht style of music better and I want to start playing some emo, or at least encorpporating it's style into my own stuff. So anyone know where I could find a decent amount of tabs?

Special Brew 01-25-2005 11:40 AM

And this will sound friggin stupid, but, where do I find a record player to play 7"s?

tornpictures 01-25-2005 12:22 PM

Just play what sounds good, dude.

That's how most of those bands started.

Try eBay, Salvation Army, etc.
