What the hell do you know? You're from "Bree-Land"

Now go put on some girl pants and xMOSHx

i am the robots 10-01-2007 01:07 PM

I don't know, maybe I'm a fucking vocalist jackass?
the production on the vocals is terrible, it completely detracts from what would be very good black metal.
well the production was by no means "good" but i really liked it. it works well with the rest of the music.
tsjuder isn't that good.
Yes, there are better bands, but I personally think that Tsjuder is good. I quite enjoy them.
well the production was by no means "good" but i really liked it. it works well with the rest of the music.
im not talking about production quality, i'm talking about the over-distortion and how high it is in the mix, it would sound a lot better if the vocals were toned down.

Invicta_Veritas 10-01-2007 01:40 PM

Uh, Matt, good production isn't really a defining trait of black metal  .

the2stranger 10-01-2007 01:42 PM

But even bad production needs to be good.
Bad-bad production is really bad.
Yay for logic, but you know what I mean. :p

i am the robots 10-01-2007 01:43 PM

I know this, but the way those vocals were recorded still kills the quality of the music.

Invicta_Veritas 10-01-2007 01:43 PM

Yea, but Mappy tends to be over-analytic of production.....something you can't really do with bm....

Matt: Okay, I'll take your word for it if you insist....

Tyler 10-01-2007 01:45 PM

He's more concerned with the leveling than the production. Reading helps you realize this,

the2stranger 10-01-2007 01:47 PM

You can be very analytic as long as you can still enjoy the music.
If you put your analysis before the feeling a song or album invokes, then you're wrong imo.
But analysis isn't bad.

Oh well, each to his own.
I know this, but the way those vocals were recorded still kills the quality of the music.
@Cocaine: This statement refers to production/engineering. Leveling would be more of a mixing thing.

But whatever, I don't want to argue about it.

i am the robots 10-01-2007 01:48 PM

I just feel that oversaturated vocals take a lot away from any feel.

Well then I fail at terminology, I did sort of mean the leveling oh well.

Oh okay, I get you.

I think saturated vocals really work for some bands....but I understand where you're coming from.

the2stranger 10-01-2007 01:51 PM

:'panzerfaust:

Invicta_Veritas 10-01-2007 01:52 PM

I don't like some of the material on Panzerfaust.

i am the robots 10-01-2007 01:52 PM

Saturation does work in some cases, take the ambient interlude in Thus From My Lips, By Yours, My Sin Is Purged by As Cities Burn for example, however when the vocals come out sounding like some sort of a laser or siren because of distortion, I think it gets to be a bit much.

Invicta_Veritas 10-01-2007 01:54 PM

Yea, true.

However, not to be a dick (because we are both All Shall Perish fans), some of his screams sound like that sometimes....

Especially on The Price of Existance.
I don't like some of the material on Panzerfaust.
mainly the vocals for me.
Although it has it's charm, I think it'd be better if they were drowned into the production like Burzum - Filosofem or Darkspace - Darkspace I

Invicta_Veritas 10-01-2007 01:56 PM

That's what kills a lot of Darkthrone's work for me.....

Eddie does tend to over-layer his vocals at certain parts, but for the most part he's one of the most creative extreme metal vocalist at the moment.
Especially on The Price of Existance.
Hate. Malice. Revenge. was with a different singer. He was fat and like 6'5", watching their old videos is fun.

1) I most definitely agree.

2) I only listened to a few off thier first one a long time ago, so I actually did not know this.....that's funny.

i am the robots 10-01-2007 02:59 PM

HMR is real good, I think it's funny how they found a better singer who with the same voice, so to speak.

FatalEnergy 10-01-2007 03:48 PM

Wow, I never thought I'd see bitching about production in this thread.

Why we chattin' ASP itt?

Nostalgia 10-01-2007 04:44 PM

Paysage D'Hiver ****ing blows. I downloaded his semi-new album last night and it was terrible.

Angmar 10-01-2007 04:46 PM

What, how dare you Austin >:|

I have not heard that one but the S/T and a couple others and they rule.

Nostalgia 10-01-2007 04:48 PM

I just couldn't listen to it. I should be mixed with a lot of harsh vocaled sections like Vinterriket, who is far superior to Paysage.

Stormrider 10-01-2007 04:52 PM

Vinterriket are boring. I could never get through the album I had in one listening. It seemed to be something I'd like. Ah well.

I haven't heard the new Paysage D'Hiver, but what I did hear was good. Haven't listened in ages though.

Vastness 10-01-2007 04:53 PM

i like paysage

austin are you talking about einsamkeit
