Green Day is my bf's favorite band... I don't really get it. Their music seems kinda flat to me.

It's the curse of making good music, eventually everyone will copy what you're doing, and you'll sound just like everyone else.
Plus, after you've been around for as long as Green Day have, it's hard to make music that doesn't sound similar to everything you've already done before, and most things end up as a rehashed version of your previous work.
Early Green Day is still fun to listen to from time to time, but the new stuff, though they have good intentions, doesn't interest me quite the same.

I don't think every band wants their albums to sound like nothing they've ever done before. If your band has their own sound, why change it radically? (Look at the Red Hot Chili Peppers, they've gone to a much 'softer' sound, and it's awful).

And if you compare American Idiot to Dookie, i don't think it's that much alike...

my friend loves this band i think some of the basslines are cool but really over-rated

Guys lets talk about Green Day.

Green Day was the first band I started listening to when I actually started listening to music. I like their old stuff a lot mroe than their newer stuff but it's not that bad tbh. it could be a lot worse. they get props for being together for as logn as they have without a long hiatus of some sort.

So I'm listening to the new album.....

I think the new album is alright, but not their best.

Still, not as terrible as Insomniac. Sorry to the guys who like it, I think the album is complete ****.

But it's good car listening.

I like the new album. More good songs than on AI but the good songs on AI were better than the songs on this one.

There's a lot of "if it wasn't Green Day it would be awesome but it is Green Day and it's not what I expected" which is total bs because if you still like it then why be like "this isn't Green Day?"

There are some flat out bad songs. Peacemaker and Christians Inferno are two of those. Some songs are good like Before the Lobotomy and Last Night on Earth and most of the others are ok. Viva la Gloria (#4) and 21 Guns are by far the best though.

Ya that's definitely the one still getting most of the airtime. I've only heard 21 Guns once so far on the radio but I liked it.

I heard 21st Century Breakdown for the first time on the radio today. All of the rest has been Know Your Enemy of course.

One of my favourite Green Day songs ever. Babs Uvula Who is a gooden too, the way it builds up to the last part is awesome then just kicks off, good time.


Sorry guys, but I really dislike 21 Guns.

Now that I've listened to the album more and more, I really don't like it. Maybe 4 solid songs, 3 ok songs, and the rest are bad.

The difference between this and American Idiot is that AI had 4 amazing songs, 2 good songs, and the rest I didn't like. Of those 6, 3 were incredibly overplayed (and 2 of them didn't deserve it) and so now I can really only stand 3 of the songs on that album (and 2 of them are incredible)

For 21st Century Breakdown, I really like Christian's Inferno, Murder City, East Jesus Nowhere, the title track 21st Century Breakdown and part 2 of American Eulogy (Modern World).
Really dislike 21 Guns, Before the Lobotomy, Last of the American Girls and Last Night on Earth.
The rest are okay, give or take a riff :p

I just recently watched Gone With the Wind and Casablanca. I thoroughly enjoyed Casablanca. Still haven't made up my mind about GwtW.
