Hardcore punX.
|
NO!
They only have a few pop-punk songs. And that isn't enough to make a band pop-punk. I just call them a hardcore band, overall because they have played hardcore, melodic hardcore, and post-hardcore. Those three genres make up the majority of their catalogue, so that's why I say hardcore. As of today, they are closer to a post-hardcore band. But who knows what genre they'll go into on their next album?
I would agree that they were a hardcore band, but they're new album reminds me a bit of bauhaus, with the electronic stuff and the moody, jagged guitars. I would say Sing the Sorrow is more of a goth album than it is post-hardcore. I see bands like Fugazi being post-hardcore. Sing the Sorrow sounds nothing like anything Fugazi's ever done. |
I find them hard to classify. I've got their mp3s chucked in emo on my puter because it's kinda punk and its got emotions in it. But I don't bother with sub-sub genres classifying my mp3s. I don't think melodic or post hardcore takes the gothy influence in enough, I mean songs like "god called in sick today" definately have something that no other band in those subgenres has. I love the way they use backing vocals, the spooky, atmospheric whooo-oooh noises they use in songs like god called in sick and the boy who destroyed the world. Even thier 30 second song on "short music for short people" had cool backing vocals.

shizzy is right.
|
When has shizzy ever led us astray?
|
By the way kids, there is no such genre as "goth" and "goth" does not have a sound associated with it, so there is no way the band is goth or has goth influences. |
But what about the Cure, they are SOOOO gawticz.
|
gawticz.
that hurts my brain.
|

Cheeser, why does that hurt your brain?

We've got a "goth industrial rave" around here called Ceremony. It's supposed to be really fun. Oh, and The Southern Death Cult/The Death Cult/The Cult sort of encompassed the transition from punk-goth punk-goth industrial. |
More like "No Dave Party". That song is pretty cool and catchy. I would listen to it a lot more if it wasn't a hassle to get to.
For those that don't know, the song I'm talking about is a hidden track on Very Proud Of Ya. But instead of being on the end of the album, it's before track one. If you own the CD, rewind right when track one starts to play, and you will find this song. It's an instrumental, hence the title: "No Dave Party".
We forgot Initiation. |
Cheeser, why does that hurt your brain?
cause it's like a word, except it isn't, and it's all funny and.. *brain explode*

And some industural gets it. HIM gets is, but they just suck and hot topic fags like them. |

agreed, except for the unnecessarily homophobic language. |

Siouxsie and the Banshees and Skinny Puppy are both considered goth. I like HIM. That was a very rude word you used. |

I like HIM. That was a very rude word you used.
Skinny Puppy borders industrial as well. I'm usually a very rude person/ |
Still no reason to use that word
|
You fags are ruining this thread.
|
agreed, except for the unnecessarily homophobic language.
Yeah, I agree. Fag isn't a nice word at all. /serious |
Seriously though, this thread is being ruined. Stop talking about s'hitty goth bands. Like anyone cares in the first place.
|
You fags are ruining this thread.
:upset: that isn't nice Dustin I'm sorry for everyone thinking me saying fag was so awful. I'll try not to say it front of such sensative people again. |
I really don't think it's awful. Seriously, it's just a word, and although it's a pretty mean word, it's just that, a word. You could be doing worse things than saying "fag" on an internet forum, like going out and beating up gay people or something.
|
so? beating up gays isn't as bad as killing them, does that make it okay?
|
Stop. Now. This thread was fine and spam free. Don't ruin it.
|
So, did anyone else think the solo from Dancing Through Sunday is as spectacular as I think it is?
|
So, did anyone else think the solo from Dancing Through Sunday is as spectacular as I think it is?
i think it's quite good. |
I wish I could "shred" like that.
|
Dancing Through Sunday is my favorite AFI solo, anyone have a favorite AFI solo?
|
Are there really any other ones? I can't think of any.
