"""We are pretty much sick of people labeling us a "metalcore" band, because..we dont like metalcore. We dont do breakdowns and anything like that, and we just want to be a metalband. So the next record is definitely breaking away from the metalcore thing. With the next record you'll have a hard time relating the music to metalcore. Its going to have more technical guitarplaying. We're listening to a lot of Dream Theater and stuff like that, we're trying to put the guitarplaying on a higher level and create a more epic kind of sound. Some songs will be typically Trivium, heavy rocking groove stuff, but some will be more on the technical, progressive side. It will still be easy for someone to listen to because of the melody. Another idea was changing the vocal style. Less of the brutal, screaming metalcore thing. More of a sort of James Hetfield-esque thing like on ...And Justice For All. We have some ideas we want to add to the new record instead of coming out with "Ascendency 2". It really has to be something on its own."""

This makes me very excited, although hopefully Trivium aren't a band who get loads of success on their breakthrough album, then take years before they release another record, that won't live up to the hype.

Being more like Dream Theater is got to be a good thing

IAmAnAsshole 10-08-2005 12:32 PM

never heard a metal band before???

Turkish 10-09-2005 01:14 AM

Matt's vocals are awesome I think, I think he has a great screaming/singing voice.

metallica fan 10-11-2005 03:39 PM

hey id really appreciate it if anyone has the tab for the solo in fugue?
my bands covering and i cant find it anywhere.thanks if anyone has it

Shattered_Future 10-11-2005 03:51 PM

I thought the vocals were the weakest part of the band...they aren't really anything special.

He actually sings, though, which is a pretty rare thing in popular American metal...his singing voice is decent.

However, Trivium has now been officially bastardized by somebody I know, who I will refer to as Top 40.

Apparently, he has discovered this band, which means he will be like "OMG Trivium are liek soooo am4zing!" Which will completely destroy any shred of liking I had for this band.

So you can all say thank you to him for finding this band.

"Finding" lol, who is this? Although they've been bastardized it doesn't make their music any worse.

Does anyone find the song Dying In Your Arms completely out of place? It sounds very emo (except the guitar is amazing) and the rest if very heavy metal

Thats is by far the worst song by trivium.

WORST SONG EVER.

The rest of the cd is incredible though.

Inthe solo dying in your arms, they rip of a riff from bark at the moon(the outro of bark at the moon, the pull-offs). Anyone else notice that?
