I recorded myself playing and singing the first verse of Radiohead's Pyramid song...
http://s11.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=36F6NS1JYQKGG1QJP9PE04HL1G What do you guys think? |
I like the reverby piano... heh.
the singing is technically very good, and in tune 9/10 of the time... And ti doesn't sound easy to sing, at all. god knows how you sing so high... |
wow, nice singing, very nice singing... I didn't know knifeboy had such a cool voice

You should've heard the first take, it could've cut through glas, I'm sure Thanks for the comments :) |

I couldn't download it Knifeboy, it said the link was bad.

That's cool, that means 25 people listened to it!.. or maybe, someone disliked it so much he killed the link http://s13.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=393SNC5LW4URA10F0EEW7UGFP5 here's a new one |
Thanks man.
Nice work there! I'm slowly teaching myself to sing. Do you happen to know what time signature Pyramid Song is in? I remember someone asking a while back and no-one knowing. |
Hehe, it's in 4/4 :)
|
Really? I remember their version of it sounding like it was in some awkward time signature. I guess it could all be in the feel.
|
If you can read sheet music, this will clear a few things up : http://littlerowboat.net/piano/scores/ps/
And if not, http://www.powertabs.net/pta.php?page=song,12040 <- Here's an excellent powertab version.. It's a very awkward rythm, but as soon as you get it down, it seems completely logical |
How proud I am to actually have been able to consult the first link this time :D! Music school is working :).
Thanks heaps, that makes so much sense. *Chorus of "Oohs" and "Ahhs" while reading.* |
I'm actually practising reading music to get into a music school, it's nice to be able to do something I find to be great fun, while actually doing something constructive! hehe |
Definately, I'm about to complete the first semester of a one year course here. I love it, it is so much better than high school.
I'm enjoying it so much that once I am good enough, I want to go back to this same place and do the Bachelor of Music course. |
Sweet stuff there Knifeboy. Nice vocals :thumb:.
|
Hey Trea (that's your name right?)
You're up early :). I haven't quite gotten around to sleeping yet. |
Hey Matt :). Yeah, it's Trea.
Man, all nighter? Doing much or just stuffing around on the net etc.? It was only 7.30 :p. |
Music, MX, indexing my music collection on my computer, Seinfeld marathon on TV1, just the usual stuff :). I had a lie down for a while because I had a headache, but that's all better now. I'll probably try and stay awake throughout the day so I can go to bed at a reasonable hour tonight and then be in a normal-person-sleeping-pattern for exam week.
I also need to do some revision for my Theory and Music Technology exams, and just keep on with my ear training for the Aural exam. What are you doing today? |
Sounds good.
At the moment, I'm going down to a shop to get some timber. Then I'll just play guitar and do some Mx I spose. Oh yeah, and check out that fundamental ear training program or whatever it was :). See ya later. |
Timber hey, building a guitar? Possibly some kind of fort?
Either way, cya later. |
:p Nah, I'm helping a mate build a deck.
Oh yeah, I'm going to the city tonight for my b'day party too (who cares if my birthday was 3 weeks ago). So you're mainly just revising/studying today? |
A mixing deck????? Wow
|
Studying/sleeping/Seinfeld.
It's all good. |
A mixing deck????? Wow
 I wish. Nah, an it-goes-around-a-house-and-you-stand-on-it kind of deck. |
Oh those decks.
You guys wanna hear my Mogwai remix? http://s14.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2M895FD14KCVF3T2EGS7J2A14S I made it last night. |
 I wish.

Oh that kinda deck...
|
Little help guys?
Time sig question. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=352115 |
Sorry for the confusion there guys.
Oh yeah, Matt, With the Mogwai thing: Haven't heard the original, so I don't know what's changed, but the remix sounded pretty sweet anyway. To your second set of questions (key sig. questions): "A bar of 5/8 could be filled out by crotchet beat, and a dotted crotchet beat. Right?" Yup. "So would a bar of 5/4 correspondingly be filled out by the equivelant of a minim beat and dotted minim beat, keeping the same pattern?" Pretty sure. Hope you did well in your exam today/will do well in your upcoming ones man (and anyone else doing them). |
Thanks :). That's my first ever remix attempt so I played it pretty safe not knowing what to do really. I plan to practice that kind of thing and have some fun with it during the break coming up.
I think I did pretty alright in my theory exam today :). Most of the real theory wasn't a hassle for me but I forget the verbal questions like "What are the 1st, 4th, and 5th chords of a scale referred to as?" The answer being primary chords. Stuff like that I forgot to study. I also wasted my time learning that the process of dividing an octave into twelve equal notes is called Equal Temperament and was "invented" by J S Bach in 1650. I will have to file that in my brain along with all the dates pertinent to Nazi Germany. Thankyou, HSC. |
