Fete?

halfdeadhippo 08-20-2004 05:28 PM
Hey, Diverse tastes. :p
I never said it's a bad thing! :p

And now Fast Fingers has to live up to his name... :naughty:

Dancin' Man 08-20-2004 05:29 PM

Opeth's damnation is such a good CD. It's the kind of thing everyone can enjoy.

Speaking of that CD
Does anyone else sing harmonies along to their CD's?

halfdeadhippo 08-20-2004 05:30 PM

I sing along sometimes, if that's what you mean.

Lord Hypnos 08-20-2004 05:33 PM

Is there such a thing as DISharmonics? If so, then that is what i sing along to my cd's.

superpeer 08-20-2004 05:34 PM

Ah, this Emperor album has such beautiful art work.

Kinda weird if you know that Their drummer was in jail for the brutal murder on an Algerian homosexual. For example.

It's just strange for me to imagine that such gr1m guys can make such nice photographs.

Not to mention all those symphonies.

Ooooo, which album? I'm a huge fan of Emperor.

superpeer 08-20-2004 05:45 PM

In the nightside Eclipse. :)

It just arrived with the others.

Lord Hypnos 08-20-2004 05:49 PM

In the Nightside Eclipse is a wicked brutal album but i like Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk just a wee bit more; there's more symphonic stuff on there.

superpeer 08-20-2004 05:59 PM

It's on the list.

br3ad_man 08-20-2004 06:09 PM
Fete?
It's like a school fair...they have cookies and crappy rides and animals and stuff

Lord Hypnos 08-20-2004 06:12 PM
It's on the list.
I got both last week. :thumb: It took three frickin' weeks to get them. I sooo wanna get Prometheus: Discipline of Fire and Demise.

Hell yeah...I can't scream or growl though :(

But I can sing radiohead :D

halfdeadhippo 08-20-2004 06:27 PM

When there's nobody else home, I crank the music up so I can scream/growl with it. Otherwise I can't scream/growl either.

Dancin' Man 08-20-2004 06:40 PM

What made me think of asking - It was Damnation I was doing it to. I suppose they're more second melodies than harmonies though since alot of the time he isn't even singing when I am.

Thanks br3ad. I was confused. I just downloaded some stuff by Nevermore. It's kinda cool. Metal with clean vocals. It has that kind of cliched corny metal vibe to it though (too much reverb on vocals and solos)

Bartender 08-20-2004 06:47 PM

What's the problem with cliched, corny metal? Manowar, Goat Horn, Witchsmeller Pursuivant, Warlock, Sceptre, Wargasm..these bands rule. Cornier the better.

Paranoidd 08-20-2004 06:49 PM

Ha, it's all about Goat Horn!

Actually the guitar player is pretty good. When I saw them, the singer stopped the music and made him shred with no backbeat, and he did a **** fine job.

Heavy metal is the lawwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Dancin' Man 08-20-2004 06:49 PM

Because the majority of you are cool guys (and I'd get flamed to death in the Pit with this) I'm asking your help.

My band recently changed our name from Stuck in Motion to The Evening Reactor. The trouble is, The Evening Reactor is almost as bad a name as Stuck in Motion. This Evening's Reaction seemed cool, but was shot down. However, we have all decided we do not like the name The Evening Reactor nor do we want to go back to our old name. Before I ask them (mostly because they aren't online and I don't want to call), I'll ask you. How does simply This Reactor sound? I was fooling around with Photoshop and made a cool logo already. We play sort of an Alt Rock/Metal combo. Here was the logo (I put it on a sweat shirt)

Look at the back of the shirt, that's where I put it.

halfdeadhippo 08-20-2004 06:51 PM

You should name your band The Unoriginal Bastards. :thumb:

Just kidding. ;) This Reactor sounds cool.

Paranoidd 08-20-2004 06:51 PM

I no like.

Have a "the" name.

The Monotones or The Led Zeppelins. Something like that.

*squints* I can't see the logo. Is there some kind of zoom function?

This Reactor sounds like a pretty good name anyway. What kind of music?

Paranoidd 08-20-2004 06:54 PM
Or The Unoriginal Bastards?
It could work.

"The Sweaty Nutsacks"
or
"Tea with a Tampon"
or
"Wasted Sperm"

Those would be good too.

Dancin' Man 08-20-2004 06:57 PM

I'm putting it on photoshop. I didn't like having a "the" in the name because it's so common.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/CaptainSwank/TheReactorSymbolcopy.gif

Paranoidd 08-20-2004 06:58 PM

It looks like a label for a pack of tube socks.

I'm just kidding, you american you.

Well the name really depends on what you play...

Bartender 08-20-2004 06:58 PM

Now it's too big :)

Looks good though. Again, depends on the music, really.

Dancin' Man 08-20-2004 07:00 PM

Alt metal/rock

Basically a ton of dynamic with lots of really soft and lots of really loud and a bit of in the middle. Tons of interludes and insturmental sections. Lot's of temp changes and key changes and a few odd time signatures here and there. Almost prog but not quite.

Paranoidd 08-20-2004 07:01 PM

Comparable to?

Sounds like MArs Volta

Dancin' Man 08-20-2004 07:08 PM

More like APC and At the Drive-In combined. We used to be really into punk and you can hear it in some songs. A lot of times we use punk chord progressions under solos because it's easier to solo over them.

Bartender 08-20-2004 07:20 PM

Well then This Reactor sounds suitably dynamic/vague.
