It's strange how your favorite CD of 8 years gets better every time you listen to it.

I go to gigs alone for that very reason. Why shouldn't you go alone anyway? It's not like you can really talk to anyone during the gig anyway!
I'd be nervous to go to a gig by myself. Scared of drunk people :(

Most of my friends would get in the way though. It's kind of like when you want to see a movie by yourself and then somone random sits next to you.

I'm loving blink 182's latest album, especailly the track with Robert Smith. Daym it's good.

Tapeworm 08-11-2004 06:50 AM

^ ^ ^ Goo goo g'joob, my friend. That album is nice. :thumb:

I saw the clip for Jeff Buckley's "Forget Her" the other night, and it has led me to a huge Jeff binge. "Sketches for my Sweetheart the Drunk" is one of the most unfairly ignored album of the 90's. I really love it.

I just got Mark Lanegan's solo album Bubblegum, it wasn't what I expected at all but I'm still really liking it, theres quite a good mix of slow and faster tracks. Its also got some really good collaborations with PJ Harvey, Josh Homme and others.

I've been to some nasty high school and college gigs..everyone else is stoned or drunk, but at least they mind their own business.:P But drunk people are sometimes scary..They randomly stab people back in my country..yeesh.

Anyways, I didn't have enough cash so I bought Isn't Anything by MBV first 'cause it's cheaper($7.99 Canadian!).It's my first taste of shoegazer I guess..I listened to a little Sonic Youth before but I forgot how it sounded like, hehe. I like Lose My Breath, I Can See It(But I Can't Feel It) and Cupid Come. I hope Loveless is even better. :D

I've been playing 'blank-wave acrade' by the faint a lot lately, I think its going to melt. Also the 'Proximity Effect' and 'Let Go' by Nada Surf. Ah, great albums. The faint is touring again! :D

Sometimes its best going to your favorite gigs alone, while going with friends is fun, you have to kind of keep an eye on where they are so they dont get lost yada yada. its hard to really get into the music. at a lot of the little local highschool things theres kids who are usually at their first show and decide they might as well drink and blaze too, why not try three new things. They got on my nerves a little too much, so I dont really chill in that scene too much anymore.

I baught The Stills album tonight. I haven't gotten through the entire album yet, but what I've listened to so far is pretty darn good.

dying_to_live11 08-11-2004 10:32 PM

ok some sweet songs would have to be:

the sound-further seems forever
we looked like giants- death cab for cutie
the tension and the terror- straylight run
lover i dont have to love-bright eyes(one of the weirdest songs ever)
okay i believe but my tommy gun dont- brand new

Mark Kozelek is amazing and underappreciated. I will buy everything he's made in the next few weeks. I've waited far too long to obtain more of his magnificent body of work.

David Saw - Different Story

This guy is amazing sort of cross between ryan adams, bob dylan, david gray and damien rice. I highly recommend him although its near impossible to find anything on any p2p program so if anyone wants to check out any songs just grab me on msn

Loveless is about 3 times as good. Isn't Anything is still a great record though.

Rogue Wave have made an impression on me recently. Out Of The Shadows is one of the best albums of the year so far, very good stuff.

Master Arkam Kannon 08-12-2004 10:53 AM

ive been digging early 20s and 30s and before jazz, its really amazing what was being done way back then and how much music has actually gotten a lot simpiler since then...

I was in HMV today and saw MBV, I almost baught it but decided not too... I have a few MP3's and I think that'll do.

br3ad_man 08-12-2004 05:03 PM

bought! You almost bought it!

I'm going to listen to The Fragile by NIN today. It's not often that I get a day off school (this will be my second one in 2004) but it's good times when I do.

sorry man but that just wont do, you need to get that album for the sake of really experiencing it the way you should...its an album made to be an album, not just a bunch of singles, its a living breathing entity in itself, you need the whole album to truely understand...

StrangerMangler 08-12-2004 07:34 PM

I've really gotten into interpol and ther album "turn on the bright lights", its great

I like "A Lack of Colour" and "Expo '86" the best, what album should I get?

Luxor 08-12-2004 10:04 PM

Well, both of those songs are off Transatlanticism... So I suggest you get that album.

br3ad_man 08-12-2004 11:58 PM

alright. I'll download it first, just in case...I know you understand that :)

Darn. I sold my copy of The Fragile a few months ago.. I miss it so much..:( La Mer and Just Like You Imagined Rocks..

Haven't heard Death Cab myself..they got me curious though, so does Pavement and Lovage, are they good? Argh..there's so much I wanna listen to but don't have money right now.:upset: (I don't download by the way)

Tapeworm 08-14-2004 02:48 AM

My copy of The Fragile was stolen by one of my bastard friends. I miss it. I've bene kickin' it with my Jeff Buckley DVD lately. And I'm really getting back into Interpol in anticipation of Antics.

br3ad_man 08-14-2004 04:19 AM

^^^^ GHEY!!!!

Maybe you should kill him :)

Not really.

Is Jeff's DVD good? I was thinking of getting it.

OrbDragon 08-14-2004 08:22 AM

I'm digging Dälek alot...their new album is coming out soon and I can't wait to hear it. Speaking of new albums, I've gotten into a huge Björk wind after I saw her perform "Oceania" at the Olympic opening...that song was friggin' incredible. I just hope the album version doesn't turn out lame.

I'm also thinking of buying the new Dillinger Escape Plan record...their new singer is incredible.
