Angmar 03-08-2008 08:08 PM
Do you remember which album you had Angmar?
Foredooming the Hope for Eternity, the riffs didn't strike me as anything special and I remember the drums sounded horrible.

Silenius 03-08-2008 08:48 PM

Yeah, a lot of BBH does sound similar since it's comprised of the same few guys for every band. I remember Branikald, Forest and Ravendark being the best from that group, never got into their clean vocals though.

Stormrider 03-08-2008 10:43 PM

I didn't like Ravendark :-/

Like a Blaze Above the Ashes really the only Forest I've heard that I still listen to. Foredooming the Hope for Eternity has a real nice cover art, though.

Angmar 03-08-2008 11:11 PM

Yeah it does haha, that's probably the only reason I chose it over the others. Since opinions/reviews were kinda limited.

It's not just that. Everything sounds the same to me. They're all exactly the same. The same group of people can make music that sounds different.

Foredooming the Hope for Eternity is a funny title because 'fördom' means 'prejudice' in Swedish. And Forest is an NS band lol

But are they something I would like? I like raw, up to a point. It depends, idk it's weird

It's 'fördöma' and I would translate it as condemn. 'Fördom', on the other hand, is prejudice. 'Fördomar' in the plural.

1338 h4x0r 03-09-2008 05:21 AM

My bad, thanks Björn

The humor still holds (a little)

Tyr 03-09-2008 05:27 AM

It definitely does.

Well the most prominent of the BBH (Forest & Branikald) are basically the same - two solo projects by the same (now dead) guy. If you like BBH, that raw kind of atmospheric NSBM, have a look into Heidentum (Ger) as well. Absolute killer.

RetiredAt21 03-10-2008 09:21 AM

The only thing I have by Heidentum is Lughnasa (sp?) and it's pretty good.

Kaldrad does most of the stuff in Branikald I think, and is definitely a main member in Forest. He's still alive.

The Gates Of Heaven 03-10-2008 03:20 PM

It's Ulv Gegner Irminsson I was thinking of, I looked it up and he was in Raven Dark, Wotansjolv, Velimor, Vargleide, Sternatis and Nitberg as well as Forest

RetiredAt21 03-10-2008 03:34 PM

I just gave Raven Dark another listen and they aren't bad. Some of the songs kinda drag on too long, though.

The Gates Of Heaven 03-10-2008 04:20 PM

The Heidentum release is Iughnasa, yea its good. They only have two demos though, I'm pretty sure

Aronax 03-10-2008 08:04 PM

The only black metal I've been listening to lately is Judas Iscariot and Azhubham Haani. In my opinion, black metal tries to hard to act satanic and it comes off as really corny.

NemesisDivina 03-10-2008 08:08 PM

Judas Iscariot is bad...

rattlehead42147 03-10-2008 08:11 PM

this.

Pete 03-10-2008 08:35 PM

the blitzkrieg version of "spill the blood of the lamb" is cool

You should listen to better bands.

The Gates Of Heaven 03-10-2008 11:34 PM

I like Azhubham Haani, not Judas Iscariot. The main black metal I listen to these days is the stuff from the mid to late 80s which most people here would probably consider a bit more thrashy... i do listen to some more recent bands but generally they are emulating that era.

Alright, I'll look into them.

I always though Forest was mostly Kaldrad, though Ulv was in that band as well.

Azhubham Haani are pretty good, pretty cool use of clean guitar at times.

RetiredAt21 03-11-2008 12:35 AM

I've been listening to Kristallnact a lot lately.

The Gates Of Heaven 03-11-2008 04:57 AM

Check out the Funeral demos then, they were better earlier in their 'career' (not to say they weren't good later). I remember having a heap of rehearsals/promos/bootlegs of theres , they're probably on some burnt cd somewhere

Already got'em. They were definitely better as Funeral. "Night And Fog" and "A Strife, A Victory" are ****ing awesome.

DERSIEGDERKRIEGDERKAMPF 03-11-2008 11:11 AM

Kristallnacht is pretty much useless, "Of Elitism and War" had a decent track or two but anything else was just sub par.

RetiredAt21 03-11-2008 11:25 AM

Of Elitism And War is pretty good, but I definitely like The Funeral Years more.
"Of Elitism and War"
RetiredAt21 03-11-2008 12:32 PM

'Elitismus und Krieg' has a nicer ring though, doesn't it?

RetiredAt21 03-11-2008 03:42 PM

I think it does.
