i've been on 4chan enough to know CP is hardly a big enough problem on there that you encounter it everytime you browse, IIRC they even block jailbait from being discussed. there are other chans where this is a main focus, from casually reading encyclopedia dramatica and uncyclopedia etc. these seem to be mocked and demonised

that said, it is an incredibly dumb website which has helped destroy internet culture so I don't endorse its use

4chan was incredible until i turned 18 then all of a sudden i couldn't stand it for some reason

well it's largely fueled by the kind of amateur wit that comes from bored teenagers and eternal man-children such as adb, the occasional moment of internet genius just isn't worth my time

I try not to bring up politics, religion or even things like taste in music if i'm at a party or something cause there is often that one guy that wants to start getting into obnoxious, one sided debates, it makes things unnecessarily tense

Yeah my friends are assholes who like getting into one-sided debates, but I think it's since there's so many assholes trying to assert their opinions that everyone's like, wait there's probably a middle ground if all of us see things differently.
