composing a 25 minute concept epic with tactus a for the past month

its loosely based on the androids from DBZ but more so on the conceptual ideas of human-based robotics and less on the specifics of the show

gaslight 09-13-2009 11:07 PM

Sounds awesome dude.

Epidemechanical 09-13-2009 11:08 PM

it will finish our first ep which basically took us a year to do

6 songs

EP title is Mechanical Demons

Dusk
Viperidae
Homeworld
The Android Codex: Part I
The Android Codex: Part II
The Android Codex: Part III

its roughly 45/50 minutes in length

PaulSimonon 09-14-2009 12:04 AM

At that length, I think it's really more of a full length than an EP, dude.

Hot day here too but as they say, if you don't like the weather in Australia, go back where you came from.

Had to replace the HD in my laptop tonight. Sigh. It died... there goes all of my music again.

I have a .zip file at work with a lot of your stuff on it, just in case it happened to you again. I'll send it to you first thing tomorrow morning.

Can you send your HD out to have it extracted onto CDs/DVDs?

Yeah... it would be less bad if I hadn't had this happen to me earlier this year, as well. Twice in one year... I had some finished in Reason that I didn't get a chance to export, so I'm a big buggered about that. Regular music is no big deal because I can get most of it off of a buddy, and rip the rest myself from CDs that I own, and photos I archive on flickr. It's just time and effort to rebuild.

On the plus side, I feel a lot more accomplished since I cracked open my laptop and changed and formatted the HD, something I've never done before. Now that I've done it, I'll never understand why anyone would pay for someone to do it for them.

@Joe: Thanks, man. I really appreciate that.

gaslight 09-15-2009 10:07 AM

Oh there'll always be people who'd rather pay someone else to do something for them, even if they could easily do it themselves.

Especially when it's something SO INCREDIBLY EASY to do because everything fits in perfectly.

But, some are mechanically inclined, some would rather not attempt something trivial like that.

@Ben. You're very welcome.

Feel free to send me lots of music stuff. I'll gladly store it for you as backup.

HDD connection type? I might have some hardware I could use when I see you to get some stuff out....

If it's a newer laptop, it's probably SATA.

That reminds me, I need to get some SATA/IDE adapters for my old hard drives so I can just dual boot on my current computer and pull that sh*t off.

BenJammin 09-15-2009 01:38 PM

Yeah, it's SATA.

Epidemechanical 09-15-2009 07:14 PM

It's a skill that too many of us forget is quite useful for accurately hitting higher pitches and very breathy tones.

I've just about gotten the switch from my singing voice to my falsetto voice to be seamless. Descending, you can tell when I switch - it's not nearly as smooth of a transition.
