Where's The Leper Affinity?
More importantly, where's any song from Orchid or Morningrise? I'd love to hear them play at least one song live from either album. I wonder what To Bid You Farewell sounds like live? That would be so badass!

Shadows 10-17-2005 04:50 PM

How could you not care for Orchid!!?? I think it has the best acoustic stuff Opeth's ever done.

Shattered_Future 10-17-2005 04:51 PM
Looks like they dropped Leper in favor of Bleak. Love both songs, but I'm so glad they're playing Bleak. Would I be wrong saying before this tour they never played Bleak live?
I'm still on the fence which I'd rather hear though...

Bleak I'm really getting into lately, but The Leper Affinity was my first real experience with uberheavy Opeth...

I wish they'd play both.

No, I really wish I could just GO to the goddamn concert.

EDIT: It would be awesome if they played Forest Of October as well.

Don't worry, they'll definately be around again.

I'm pretty sure they played it at a few shows last tour....not at the one I was at though.

I can't wait!!!!

That's why I prefer Bleak. It was the first ever Opeth song I heard and the one that really sold me on them. So Hearing that one, for me, would be stellar.

Indeed, a great album. Kind of takes you to another place if you know what I mean. Otherworldly

Shadows 10-17-2005 04:59 PM

By Flynn's request, I'm listening to Blackwater Park again for the first time in a year or so.

All I've heard is the first half of Dirge for November, but all I can say is

Well, I think it's the weakest on the album, so that's really saying something.

...yet you're using the cover of it as your avatar?

NP: The very beginning of Bleak

That's even more :eek::eek::eek: than the last song.

I don't know, the ending of Blackwater Park is jaw-dropping.
Yeah, well the main complaint i have is that the title track is unmemorable. But i should listen to it more i guess. I used to not care for Orchid too, then I listened to it a lot, now I love it
Thats one of the bands best songs, IMO. No other song has the power that one does, let alone awesome riffs/vocals/lyrics... the goosebumps I get hearing the last line...

yeah, I'm going to listen to the whole album again tonight. I've only heard the whole thing like 3 times anyway, so that makes sense because no opeth album (besides maybe damnation i think) i immediately "got" on the very first couple listens.

Darkness 10-17-2005 05:21 PM

Listen to the last 2 songs in bed when your first going to sleep... trust me... :p

Hah i will, Opeth can be great nighttime in bed music
Btw, how long is your copy of the Funeral Portrait? I'm just wondering because mine (its an "illegal" copy..or mp3) is around 2 minutes... seems like it would be longer..?

Darkness 10-17-2005 05:25 PM

Should be around 8. Go buy it dude.

ok lateralus 10-17-2005 05:26 PM

Hah, yeah I figured. Whoops

Opeth can be the best bedtime music as long as you are in complete darkness and don't try to fall asleep :D. I did that with Morningrise and it was the best hour of music in my life.

I may get to go to Spain this summer. The very first thing I saw was that there was an entire day dedicated to relaxing at a beach. A sunset/sunrise/full moon on a beach would be surreal while listening to Opeth.

Kaiwaz 10-17-2005 05:33 PM

I just got done listening to every Opeth album starting with Orchid, and ending with Ghost Reveries. 7 hours and 47 minutes of Opeth...I'm exhausted.:amaze: It's good music to listen to while playing Texas Hold'em and drinking Budweiser. :D

whatduffhuck7 10-17-2005 06:39 PM

i get tired when i sit down and listen to one opeth album, all 8 would be very tiring

I was listening to Ghost Reveries earlier today. 10 minute Opeth songs just seem to fly by with me now.

Kaiwaz 10-17-2005 06:42 PM

 It's cool when you're doing something along with it though, you get certain moods with different songs...I love Opeth when it comes to poker. I made $645 today :D I'm not pointing the finger at Opeth's music, but I am CERTAINLY not betting unless Opeth is playing.

strat 10-17-2005 06:42 PM
Where's The Leper Affinity?

And replace In My Time Of Need with Windowpane, and that will be an awesomely outrageous setlist.
In My Time of Need is awesome live, with the crowd singing along. Really, really kickass. Didn't care for the song until I heard it live.

Hive 10-17-2005 06:44 PM

opeth sounds about 40 times better at night.

Woah. $645? I should gamble with Opeth sometime.

Shattered_Future 10-17-2005 06:48 PM

I can't concentrate through a whole Opeth album...:upset:

I listened to Ghost Reveries on the way up to my grandma's...blanked out from The Baying Of The Hounds up until The Grand Conjuration. :upset:

whatduffhuck7 10-17-2005 06:49 PM

i put in the opeth cd and read the book/lyrics while i listen

lol I blank out listening to that album also. I dislike it.

Why is it you dislike GR?

You missed the best parts of the album.

Beneath the Mire + Hours of Wealth + Reverie/Harlequin Forest = an album I would buy, even if it only had those three.
