After the war they found out that they were sent to camps.

Oh yeah, you know what US, UK and Russian troops did to a lot of German citizens at the end of WW2?

Including my grandma, took them to concentration camps (which they didnt even know about) and made them clear them up, the blood, the bodies etc.

And if your nan told you such good stories then you need to sit down with my Grandparents. My grandfather can tell you stories of such horrific suffering, my entire moms side had to flee form the russians while my grandmother was still a little child and a lot of the extended family has disappeared. War isn't pleasant. But i'm **** sure a lot of people could have took a guess at what was happening, "moved abroad" without telling anyone? I've seen plenty of documentaries with people who said they knew yet blocked it all out.

My grandmothers family was almost completely destroyed by the Russian invasion.

Yeah my grandma told me that they were "lectured" regularily in the Hitlerjugend and i fully understand.

But im not saying that its a good thing, but that it was better than communist, eliminating the facts like the Holocaust, etc.

The Russians took out their frustrations on the german population. THey had it very bad though. They were tortured by Stalin and the Nazis at the same time.

Once they reached german soil the pillaged it. Raped the women and killed them afterwards. My Grandfather was there. It sounds like straight nout of a horror film. He was later captured and to this day refuses to tell us what has happened.

My great Grandfather was in a division, i dont know which, and was captured, had both his hands cut off by the Russian "negotiaters"

Wow, that must have been incredibly horrible.

I feel bad for people who had to go through that type of thing because now they have to live with the memories of things they never dreamed of. It just haunts them until they die.

Why not? Because you can't handle that almost every communist state ever has been murderous and war-mongering? Stalin had concentration camps too. He used to clear mine fields with prisoners. He killed more of his own people than Hitler killed Jews. Surely that is worse?

oh and when i went on a WW1 history trip 2 weeks ago to Belgium and France, and just past the border of Germany, we went to a Cemetary right on the border between the three countries.

One section of the gravestones had swastika's etc painted on, and frankly it just makes me angry and sick to see it, but they have to replace them
