It's been -10 up here :( |
So we have sacked a manager who has a 55% win rate, and replaced him with the reserve team coach. I am livid. I dont care who he gets long term, he needs get away from our club.
if this is all part of some grand plan i'd like to be aware of it. "they" may have something or someone in mind but to your average fan it just looks like the club have shat on one of the best managers we've had in years. a little bit of communication to the paying customers would go a long way to settling things down. as it stands, saturday is just going to be another hate fest and will disrupt business where it matter most, i.e. on the pitch. |

writing that is
I understand why lit reviews are beneficial, but only 5%? They've structured the course so that the lit review is all I've had time to do over the last 10 weeks  |

Mate it's -19 in some places. |
I know it's cool to hate on Periphery round here but I don't care, I'm going to see them in Feb, possibly on my birthday, which is nice.
|
Man that'd be awesome. I want them to come around here.
|
enjoy standing with your hands in your pockets and nodding
Why would I be doing that? And besides, what makes that such a bad thing? I'm going to see Roger Waters too next year (twice :D), and I'll be sitting down nodding my head.
Man that'd be awesome. I want them to come around here.
The beauty of them playing the UK is that no two gigs are ever further than like 4 or 5 hours apart. And living in the middle of England means I'll probably end up going to 2 or 3 of them. |
|
I couldn't stand to see them once, nevermind several times in as many days.
|
Yeah.
So anyway, sup Lod? Got an xmas gig for each band coming up, one this saturday and one the friday after. First one is for the smaller/side project type thing and we're main support, second one is for my main/oldest band which we usually pack out (done it last 2 or 3 xmases) so it's last minute practices ahoy. |
i remember seeing porcupine tree live, the audience looked like characters from fallout 3 caught in an animation loop
|
So?
|
just banter, i'm not trying to belittle you
i got bored of shows for that kind of music a long time ago cause they don't give you much more than what's on cd apart from jamz and not being jazz/improv-based musicians they never really manage to pull much out of the bag for those |
Periphery does suck shit though to be fair.
|
A big part of it for me is supporting the bands that I like. I rarely buy CDs, and it's not that I'm somehow attempting to absolve myself by paying to see them, it's just that I always enjoy music more when it's played right in front of me, even if it is almost a carbon copy of the CD, so to me it's a no-brainer.
|
i mean the performance community is a big part of my life too i just don't find those performances very satisfying but that's ultimately down to taste
|
news just in seeing bands live is an enjoyable experience for those that enjoy said bands music
|
Fair enough, as is most music-related discussion. I mean, some performances are just flat out boring ,kings of leon comes to mind, but that's mostly because they physically looked and act bored outta their fucking skulls when they're playing. It's also slightly because they've made almost nothing but shite for 2 albums.

not always besides a lot of people lie about enjoying concerts to fit in like the people standing with their hands in their pockets nodding |
Not every one get so stoned at a concert that they rip of their clothes and mosh naked Fingers. Plus, I saw (and enjoyed) an Eric Clapton concert when I was younger. Which really if there was a mosh pit/people doing the wave/etc. at an Eric Clapton concert I'd be confused and a little scared.
|
mosh pits are even worse
people hate themselves and others so much that they'll wilfully hurl themselves at each other forcing the crowd to part around them and causing a thousand overly defensive cunts in spiked leather and steel toe boots to start elbowing anyone who goes near their underage girlfriend in the face fucking rock music man seriously and don't get me started on the smells these people make |
 yeah I went to a Gojira gig once, was brutal. A guy of about 16st/6'5" picked me up (I'm 13st/6'0") to move me out of the way so he could get on the stage and stage dive. Needless to say, there wasn't many people willing to catch him. I swear the ground shook when he faceplanted it.
I've never really gone all-out in a mosh pit, generally just been sucked into one when what seems to be the population of Mordor starts flailing about in and around my face. Mosh pits don't bother me though, if I inadvertently end up moving from the fringes of one to the midst of it, I'm cool with it as long as I dominate. Then when a beefcake turns up, I move in-crowd :p I'd like to leave with all my teeth please. Completely depends on the music. A group of lads started a pit at a Dream Theater gig once. I just stood on the edge and punched them in the face until they got the idea. Any band that produces songs such as 'Another Day' and 'The Spirit Carries On' should not be moshed to. |
The problem with moshing is that kids have decided that it's acceptable to mosh to anything. I was at a gig once and these kids tried to start a mosh pit to a band that sound like The Kooks.
Later Lod, going back home. |

I saw PT in May and I was literally 1 out of like 10 people there who weren't wearing a Pink Floyd/King Crimson/Dream Theater shirt. Seriously people I'm sure Steven Wilson doesn't care how much you "love" prog, it's not gonna make him like you. I wore this shirt http://www.rockabilia.com/product.php?productid=70255&cat=0&page=1 but sadly Gavin didn't play any. |
Gah, anything that says 'no back design' or other self-referential things make me cringe.
Like when people post 'snow-related status' on facebook. Seriously, it's more annoying that the actual abundance of snow-related statuses. Every hardcore PT fan I have met has been a complete pretentious hipster twatface. I like the Sound of Muzak, but not when I have a fanboy saying 'it's in 7/4 you know'. Urgh.. |
I want a shirt that says 'Hipsters ruined irony'. I saw one once, should have gotten it but missed my chance.
|
Couldn't agree more.
It's like that Hard-Fi album, that just says 'NO COVER ART' on the cover. Fucking annoying. |
For some reason it mildly annoys me in books when a page just has "this page is intentionally blank" written on it.
|
Yes!
Also, it confounds its own reason, as the page is no longer blank. |
"Seal clubbing is whack"
I said that earlier today, thought it was worth repeating |
Venison's dear isn't it.
|
Sup lod.
Been a long time since I posted around here, yet I still recognise most of the names. Comforting! Just wondering - what's the view on threads about one's band in Guitar? |
We slaughter a puppy for every thread you make on your band. (As we all know the kitten world is dwindling from mass-masturbation-hysteria).

 I thought as much. Jam Session it is! |

Urgh..
Oh, the shirt doesn't actually say that on the back, that's just what the site does on the pictures lol. I don't really know many people who knew about PT before I introduced them to their music, so I can't say how a lot of the fans are. But if the people at that concert were any indication I hear what you're saying. Those are the types of people who want to seem like they're knowledgeable and unique, when in reality they're just annoying poseurs. Pisses me off 'cause then us regular fans get stereotyped. |
gig in sCUNThorpe tonight.
can't really be arsed, shit venue, shit town. still, it's a few quid to boost the dwindling coffers. |

Most hilarious post you've ever made. |
one of my contractors introduced me to porcupine twee a while back. kind of meh tbh. but then he's a big Rush fan as well. all very samey. not too much into that progressive rambling self indulgent nonsense myself.
