I've been listening to George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, a lot.

I've decided that it's by far my favourite Beatle's solo release, and I think I like it just as much as any of the Beatles' albums. It's really great.

Also, I was just listening to Mecca & the Soul Brother by Pete Rock & CL Smooth. One of my favourite hip-hop albums, it's so jazzy and smooth and whatnot.

br3ad_man 10-11-2005 02:34 AM
I'll be at that for sure.
It's at the Trobadour. Have you ever been there before? If so, what's it like?

I'm trying to dig Stfu Stevens for about the 14th time.

Bartender 10-11-2005 02:52 AM

No, but really, just out of curiousity, what about the album do you dislike?
I'm not sure. There just seems to be nothing about it that interests me.
or just check out a review on allmusic for them
But allmusic sucks noodles.

Liberi Fatali 10-11-2005 02:52 AM

So far for today just a collection of:
M83
Phil Collins
Pluto
Bozzio Levin Stevens
Car Chase Terror!
I don't know why but I quite like that song, as you can no doubt tell. Even with its cheesy voice acting.

br3ad_man 10-11-2005 05:56 AM

Yeah I like it as well. Still, the best tracks on there are easy "Don't Save Us From The Flames" and "Teen Angst".

Bob1616 10-11-2005 06:45 AM

Eric Clapton
Jonny Lang
Oasis

Tomahawk 10-11-2005 07:29 AM

Right now I'm listening to Jesus of Cool by Nick Lowe. Good album. He was a producer (for guys like Elvis Costello, and the Damned), but he also did this great solo pop-rock type stuff. Touches on a lot of different types of pop music, there's bits of Motown, Beatles, doo-wop, etc. It's along the same lines as Elvis Costello, so if you like him then check it.

Great album title too, although it got changed in America. I think it was called "Pure Pop for Now People" there.

Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary

If you don't know about it. I feel sorry for you.

ATM 10-11-2005 08:31 AM

Sunny Day Real Estate are incredible. I just found out about them though a guy at work, and I am glad that I did.

All lies.

The NPC 10-11-2005 12:07 PM

Husker Du - Flip Your Wig

It's the first album that Grant Hart and Bob Mould produced for the group and you can definatly hear the ever growing pop side in them. Is it on par with New Day Rising, Metal Circus, or Zen Arcade? Sure. Is it as hard hitting as those albums? Probably not, but it's the album where Husker Du did exactly what they wanted to do and that is what makes this album the best representation of their musical tastes during their SST stint.

Bartender 10-11-2005 01:19 PM

I finally got around to listening to Pink Moon for the first time (in full) earlier today. It's getting a provisional 4.5 for now, I think. Also;

Daft Punk - Discovery
Frou Frou - Details
the Ginger singles

asymm 10-11-2005 01:24 PM

My mailbox was full of new releases today so I shall be digging:

My Morning Jacket - Z
Constantines - Tournament of Hearts
Deerhoof - The Runners Four
and
South Park Season Six

Happymeal 10-11-2005 01:32 PM
Deerhoof - The Runners Four
I want to listen to that. I also heard it's a lot more straightforward than their usual?

I hate the singer for that band
It's at the Trobadour. Have you ever been there before? If so, what's it like?
It's a really cool venue actually. I saw The Panics play there. It's got a lounge bar type thing happening and it's quite small - probably only about a hundred people would fit in there.

I Heart Hiroshima are playing there next Tuesday. Oh yeah, check this out br3ad:
http://www.ravemag.com.au/raveweb.pdf
Have a look at the front cover, page 22 and page 26.

Better add my diggage:
Tom Waits - Closing Time
Ben Kweller - Sha Sha
Air - 10,000 Hz Legend
Bright Eyes - Fevers and Mirrors

Kaiser Chiefs - Employment

Such a fun album. One of my favorite new commers thus far in 2005. Some songs to get if you haven't yet gave them a listen: Everyday I Love You Less And Less, Oh My God, Saturday Night. Or just pick up the album. I found it at a dirt cheap $7.50 at HMV. :-O!

Built to Spill - There's Nothing Wrong With Love
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
Pixies - Come On Pilgrim

Nothing new here, just some of my enjoyable albums I've been doing work to.

YDload 10-11-2005 08:14 PM

Hey Mike you like Acrobatic Tenement too? I'm finally getting into it and really enjoying songs like "Ticklish" and "Initiation."
Hey Mike you like Acrobatic Tenement too? I'm finally getting into it and really enjoying songs like "Ticklish" and "Initiation."
Of course. I was singing "Star Slight" for days after first getting that album.
Of course. I was singing "Star Slight" for days after first getting that album.
You can understand the lyrics? See none of it makes sense to me, and even with the power of Google it's hard to make sense of what Cedric and Jim are shouting (especially since they were pretty doped up at the time apparently). But "Star Slight" is a good song even if it sounds a bit too much like it belongs in an iPod commercial.

el doctor 10-11-2005 08:30 PM

I have absolutely no idea what the lyrics are. But that doesn't stop me from singing them. That's one of the things I've always found funny... Normally, when songs have that "shout out loud" quality to them, you can actually sing the lyrics. It's like 80s hair metal, minus a chorus that everyone knows.

"Enfilade" is another ATD-I song like that.

well that one's easy to figure out: "Sacrifice on railroad tracks/freight freight train coming/freight freight train coming!"

Little Man being Erased 10-11-2005 10:17 PM

Today I have thoroughly enjoyed the following records in the order in which they appear.

Iron On - Oh The Romance

Iron On are a new band from Brisbane (where I live). This is their debut album, and I love it. It's indie pop/rock with alternating male and female vocals in a similar style to Death Cab for Cutie, I guess. Very catchy stuff. They have some songs on purevolume (link), listen to the song off this album for a start.

They also have a website: http://www.ironon.live.com.au/

Also dug:
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus
Air - Moon Safari

I'm starting to think that maybe I don't really like 10,000 Hz Legend more than Moon Safari. Talkie Walkie is Air's best anyway.
