I don't like them.
Over the top for my feeling and incoherent songwriting that seems to borrow way too much from melodeath if you ask me.

Oh well, there's more doom for me to like. :)

That's probably why I like it because of the melodeath stuff.

Yeah, the melodeath influence is quite clear.
I do love their songtitles though, over the top gore ftw!
I don't think I've never stumbled upon any doom(/death) band that uses gore lyrics.
On Nadja:
It indeed needs loud volume and well, it's just something that should grab you.
If not, then I can't help you.
It's just a very click or not click band.
I love them.
They take me away on sonic waves far away, hypnothic.
Pete, which Nadja album did you say to start with again? I'm about ready to d/l one of their albums today.

Yeah "Chewing Female Genital Parts" and "Gangling Menstrual Blood-Broth for Supper" are quality song titles.

Its funny because they changed their name to As I Lay Dying right before they broke up. Irony!

Start with Body Cage.
If you like that try: Truth Becomes Death and Radiance Of Shadows.

Enjoy. :D

Exactly what I mean, great titles.

I wasn't aware of the ironic name change.

M-A is the bible for metal fans.
Luckily it hasn't been having so many server problems lately.

Yeah it was quite informative.

repcak 01-28-2008 02:11 PM

i still search everything on metalstorm.ee and if they don't have the band i go to M-A :)

Dimmu Burger 01-28-2008 02:13 PM

I'll have to try that one.

Bordello 01-28-2008 02:54 PM

metalstorm's layout is a lot nicer

the2stranger 01-28-2008 03:11 PM

Sup.
Just ordered Bliss Torn From Emptiness and Guilted By The Sun, both by Nadja.

Looking especially forward to BTFE. :D

Hey Petey, I was looking at schools in the Netherlands today :-D

the2stranger 01-28-2008 03:14 PM

Cool man,
Any specific places? :)

Visit the Dutchy. :chug:

ATM 01-28-2008 03:21 PM

I was just looking at studying abroad opportunities, no specific schools just yet.

I'd most definitely visit.

the2stranger 01-28-2008 03:26 PM

Awesome.
Let me know if you find something of your interest. :)

Great news:
Saturnus with Thurisaz & Mar de Grises - April/May 2008
So far, one venue confirmed in the Netherlands, another one still open, looking for a venue.

Saturnus are ace live, I mised Thurisaz, when I went to Agalloch and well Mar De Grises, never seen them live, but one of the better doom/death bands around.

pate 01-28-2008 07:14 PM

Thurisaz owns live. And you know Saturnus do too. :p

Bordello 01-28-2008 07:14 PM

thurisaz are ok

pate 01-29-2008 07:49 AM

Make an account and it goes back to the regular search.

Saturnus indeed owns.
I think Saturnus and Thurisaz like eachother, cause this will be the second time I'll see them touring together.
Make an account and it goes back to the regular search.
I just found out I still have an account on M-A.
So I logged in and it's good to see the old fashion searchbox.

So, time for some doom now.
But which one,
/browses albums.

pate 01-29-2008 11:40 AM

Yeah, Saturnus and Thurisaz are buds, and buds with Novembers Doom.

the2stranger 01-29-2008 11:41 AM

Yeah, ND were also on the tour when I saw them.

Do you like mar De Grises, Lee?

np: Nortt - Ligpraedike

gmoneyguy 01-29-2008 11:43 AM

I would love to see ND live.

pate 01-29-2008 11:46 AM

ND played one of the most perfect sets I've ever seen. And there's a good chance they'll be sending me their upcoming DVD for free. :p

Never heard of them.

gmoneyguy 01-29-2008 11:46 AM

lucky!

the2stranger 01-29-2008 11:58 AM

Mar De Grises is worth your time!
Great doom/death with some funeral doom, ambient and even progressive influences.

check out To See Saturn Fall on their myspace.
They're finishing up their new album now.

pate 01-29-2008 12:20 PM

They sound like something I'd like!

repcak 01-29-2008 12:29 PM

I got Mar de Grises from you,but i still haven't checked them out.

i have so many bands now i need to check out, but i don't have the time.
After all the exams are over, i'm at least alone in vienna: just learning for the exam, working, driving around and i would be able to do what i want every evening: you know what this means: music & MX :)
drone, doom and funeral forever... harhar
