I love thrash and was wondering if you guys could give me suggestion on some new good bands, cause i need some here is what I listen to:
Metallica
Megadeth
Slayer
Kreator
Exodus
Testement
Dark Angel
Death Angel
Anthrax
and some overkill

Thanks

RavenousMetalist87 04-22-2005 10:00 PM

Destruction
Coroner
Sodom
Sabbat
Sepultura
Possessed (these guys might take some time getting used too)
Razor

That's just what I suggest you might want to start with. There's more, so I'll let the others pitch in.

I love the line "Fuck the world, stay outside!" in that song. :thumb:

Taking Over was the album that introduced me to Overkill, so it has a special place in my heart. Definately one of their finest.

What its all about? Well, we just talk about thrash...

NP: Iron Angel - The Metallian

Apocalyptic Raids 04-23-2005 09:51 AM

handicap$: You can also get samples of darkness descends of Dark Angel's site. Although if your a big thrash person i would guess you have heard this album already.

Read an interesting interview with Sheepdog Mclaren yesterday... He said Custom Killing was his favourite Razor album, and VIOLENT RESTITUTION was his least favourite. There was some pretty bad blood between him and Dave Carlo when he quit too.

Custom Killing, eh? That was my first Razor album.

I'm not glad that he left the band or anything, but I like Bob Reid better.

NP: Running Wild - Whirlwind

DisposableHeroes 04-23-2005 03:19 PM

Crumsuckers - Life Of Dreams came in the post today, quite catchy and punky. Good stuff

hmmm thats strange as Violent Restituion is good.

I've never heard any Crumsuckers, what are they like?

DisposableHeroes 04-23-2005 04:11 PM

They're punk for the most part with thrash thrown in, quite catchy and accessible but its certainly not commercial or anything

Corporal Compendia 04-23-2005 08:46 PM

The Crumbsuckers were great... Life of Dreams is a classic crossover album.

RCA, since you like Bob Reid, have you heard the S.F.H albums? You might dig them.

metal-militia 04-24-2005 04:02 AM

Thanks for the recomending them to me. i'm not a huge fan of crossover, but i'll give them a listen. :)

DisposableHeroes 04-24-2005 04:44 AM

Would anyone call Sacrilege BC crossover? Too Cool To Pray has a punk feel to it, but i havent heard the first album

metal-militia 04-24-2005 08:02 AM
Would anyone call Sacrilege BC crossover? Too Cool To Pray has a punk feel to it, but i havent heard the first album
I don't think it does really. Maybe a bit but not a very big punk sound.

NP: Sacrilege BC - Azmeroth

DisposableHeroes 04-24-2005 08:56 AM

I need the first album, could anyone send it via MSN? I cant be bothered to track down a copy and buy it

Apocalyptic Raids 04-24-2005 10:18 AM

Ok, I think this has been asked, but i keep hearing about them. What Razor album should i start with? I was thinking Violent Restitution or Open Hostility. I am leaning toward Open Hostility.

CaptainWaits 04-24-2005 10:30 AM
Ok, I think this has been asked, but i keep hearing about them. What Razor album should i start with? I was thinking Violent Restitution or Open Hostility. I am leaning toward Open Hostility.
I would recommend you keep leaning towards open hostility. I didn' care for what I've heard from Violent resolution, but I've also only heard little from Open Hostility.

Anyways, go for Open Hostility, but my opinoin is minimal, as I'm not too familiar with a lot of Razor

Apocalyptic Raids 04-24-2005 11:00 AM

Yeah, i read the reviews on Metal-Archives (one of which is RCA's :D), which made me lean toward Open Hostility. I would download the samples of their site, but it's 3am.

RavenousMetalist87 04-24-2005 11:26 AM
I would download the samples of their site, but it's 3am.

I just found that rather entertaining. I looked into Blabbermouth as usual, and apparently they have an article on Mille's comments about Dimebag's death.

Everyone pretty much flamed him after they read it. I still think some of the commentors don't understand "In My Own Opinion".

Then I found about about this band called Occult. Supposedly, it's black/thrash, just like Aura Noir and Destroyer 666. I mean, not the same sound, but somewhat in the same ballpark. I only hard a partial clip, but I just wanted to see if anyone else here has heard of them.

FatalEnergy 04-24-2005 12:47 PM

Yeah, I read that thing about Mille, but honestly I think he has a good point, you never hear about stuff like that in Europe or Australia or anywhere else, only America.

Corporal Compendia 04-24-2005 12:53 PM
Ok, I think this has been asked, but i keep hearing about them. What Razor album should i start with? I was thinking Violent Restitution or Open Hostility. I am leaning toward Open Hostility.
I'd say Violent Restitution myself...that's because I prefer Stace, but you can't go wrong with either one.

ForiegnPenguin 04-24-2005 02:07 PM

What does Ried sound like?

Corporal Compendia 04-24-2005 03:50 PM

Reid: http://www.xs4all.nl/~wjheems/sounds/clips/shotgun_justice.mp3

Sheepdog: http://www.xs4all.nl/~wjheems/sounds/clips/take_this_torch.mp3

RavenousMetalist87 04-24-2005 04:07 PM

I like them both. Violent Resitution sounds awesome though \m/>_<\m/

ForiegnPenguin 04-24-2005 04:16 PM

I prefer Sheepdog, but Reid is great.

CaptainWaits 04-24-2005 04:30 PM

I prefer Reid over Sheepdog, but really neither of them impress me much

ForiegnPenguin 04-24-2005 06:20 PM

Do you have Violent Restitution?

RCA 04-24-2005 08:49 PM

Actually, buy both of them. Here's my breakdown of them both:

Violent Restitution: All of the songs are pretty short for the most part (three minutes and under). When listened to as a full album, it sounds like one really well-written, insanely aggressive thrash song, with a hell of alot of great breakdowns and thrashbreaks.

Open Hostility: Here, the songs can function well on their own. Listening to a song by itself neither adds nor takes away from the quality of the album, and listening to the album all the way from track one doesn't give you any better perspective of it. Each song has its share of aggression, great riffs, and monster thrash breaks, just like on VR. In fact, this album picks up basically were Shotgun Justice left off, and Shotgun Justice was basically another run at the sound Violent Restitution had. Call this a Violent Restitution Part Three (a good thing) if you wish. ***NOTE*** A drum machine was used on this album, therefore that isn't Rob Mills you're hearing behind the kit. Rob Mills can play these songs up to speed though, so just imagine it actually IS him behind the kit.

NO POSTS SINCE YESTERDAY!?!??!?!?! WHAT THE FUCK?

RavenousMetalist87 04-25-2005 08:10 PM

I was on earlier, but I was in a bit of rush to get on and off.

I haven't much to say but I gave my "Live Without Sense" CD a spin in my CD player. Great stuff. I'm glad I picked up last Friday.

If I ever get my friend to listen to more of my collection of music, this is a higly recommended CD she must listen to >.>

Edit: I was on Holy Moses' website earlier, sampling a few songs from their new album Strength Will Power Passion (I think that's what it's called).

I find it to be within my ballpark of musical taste, but then again, I need to sample the entire album when they have all the tracks up.

 NO!

:( ****...I'm sorry to hear that. How short is it?

Mine is long, but somewhat like...semi long. It goes to about my ears, but the back reaches near the bottom of my neck. I might have to trim it again, but at least this will be the last time since summer is coming.

Then when I graduate, it's long hair heaven :D

It's like short short. I got a job at construction for the summer, but since I'm on spring break - the guy said he'll give me some training early. And that starts tomorrow, I'm so nervous. But at least the owner of the business is a friend of my mom. :thumb:

Hopefully your mom can talk the owner into letting you grow it out again. I've seen construction guys with long hair.

Just pull it back like the rest >.>

Good luck with the job though. I get my letter from the local hospital in about a week regarding my interview for the volunteer position.
