ergh i just watched a hillary duff movie
so bad
Well, that was a silly thing to do wasn't it.

horseypie 02-14-2009 07:01 AM

it was with family so i sorta had to watch it

gaslight 02-14-2009 07:04 AM

That sounds like torture. I can't remember the last time I sat through a movie I didn't want to see.

So what'd everyone do today?

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 02-14-2009 07:48 AM

went and saw a band play, just got home, it's wierd being a sober person at a pub.

the band was awesome

gaslight 02-14-2009 07:50 AM

What band?

Yeah, when you're sober at a pub you realise how expensive soft drinks are.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 02-14-2009 08:14 AM

www.myspace.com/endofdaysband2006

they are all really good musicians which i like to see in a pub band

gaslight 02-14-2009 08:16 AM

I pretty much like to see good musicians in any band haha. A band of bad musicians is just, well, not cricket.

I've devised some brutal exercises for myself, it's fun to be sore.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 02-14-2009 08:26 AM

musical exercises or fitness workouts?

well i prefer good musicians instead of people who play cover songs note for note

gaslight 02-14-2009 08:32 AM

Fitness workouts, kinda.

Those too aren't mutually exclusive though - plenty of great musicians play cover songs note for note.

Meatplow 02-14-2009 08:57 AM

reading this graphic novel, Marvels

gaslight 02-14-2009 09:08 AM

I'm practising making some beats and layers in GP3 for the day when I have good equipment.

Meatplow 02-14-2009 09:20 AM

just use ableton and actually make it sound good

gaslight 02-14-2009 09:25 AM

Ableton counts as equipment, being worth almost a grand and all. But yeah, that's probably the kind of thing I'll do electronic tracks with. I want to do sampling of real instruments too though, too much synth makes Homer something something.

Meatplow 02-14-2009 09:36 AM

did you pay for guitar pro? curious

gaslight 02-14-2009 09:43 AM

Nope, but GP3 was worth about $20 so it's a little different.

Ah, the wonders of Kazaa. Haha.

Meatplow 02-14-2009 10:08 AM

well the way I see it, if i start doing things with these programs professionally I will then go legit with software.

as for now, I don't see anything wrong with having it available for training purposes. you still use kazaa? crikey :)

gaslight 02-14-2009 10:23 AM

Hell no, that thing is dead as the dodo.

I got GP3 about seven years ago I think. Yeah, that's my approach too. Not everyone can afford to pay the large amounts for music software, but if you stand to make money out of using them, then I consider a person obliged to pay for it. Those programs are incredibly hard work to make and a lot of effort goes into them so you gotta give them their due eventually.

When I get my sweet sound PC it'll be loaded with legit stuff. Hopefully I'll still have my student status then for discounts.

Meatplow 02-14-2009 10:31 AM

that would be an awesome arrangement

i have a controversial link which is NSFW

type "population paste love bugs" in google, click on the first link

Aaron 02-14-2009 11:32 AM

blueyxd 02-14-2009 12:19 PM

I'll join the all nighter squad A.M. shift. I woke up an hour ago and can't go back sleep, especially now after seeing those bugs...

Meatplow 02-14-2009 12:22 PM

i'm working on my first IDM song

it has digital sounding drums

blueyxd 02-14-2009 12:32 PM

What program/s do you use?

Meatplow 02-14-2009 12:42 PM

ableton live and various VST plug-ins for making sounds with, and adobe audition for mixing them and recording

a sample of what i'm doing if you wanna have a look - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?oenqztltimm

sounds rough as hell atm but with a bit of tweaking and mastering it right I can pad this out into something :)
