some of their songs have pretty obscure buddhist references

Nice!
Have you already listened to it?
It's quality stuff.
Weighing Souls With Sand is my absolute favorite.

I'm on a Nadja spree right now (still <_< )

np: Nadja -Sandskin
Thats what I got. I've only listened to it once, but I like it so far.

dUSK 01-26-2008 04:24 PM
Even though it's actually death metal and not grind.
But Esoteric and Ahab have some interesting drum parts, and also on MC's new album there are some nice drum parts.
Do you mean on the split with Stone Wings? I'm still yet to here it. I pre-ordered it at the end of October and still nothing. Apparently Damon's distro is yet to recieve his copy's, so there's quite a few people around who tried to get in early and are in the same boat as me. :(
Peter, could you tell me some good Ahab and Nadja albums i should get?
I'm not Peter, but Ahab have only one album and it's fantastic. The Call Of The Wretched Sea, go go!

the2stranger 01-27-2008 07:38 AM
:) you talk about Nadja so much I'm going to make a point to check them out within the next week. I must hear these guys.
Haha, yeah, I'm really adicted to ther music.
Start with Bodycage for starters.
Let me know what you think about it.
Thats what I got. I've only listened to it once, but I like it so far.
Great choice!

I haven't heard that release either.
I'm talking about The Monad Of Creation.
It's nothing outstanding, but as far as fd drumming goes, it is pretty good.
Hope you recieve yourcopy soo.
Waiting since october. :-\ wow. :(
i just listen to Khanate - Khanate and i like it so far... the vocalist is great
Excellent CD.
The vocalist is indeed great.
Like a more hysterical version of Chuck.

np: Pantheist - Apologeia

I actually got someone on my local forum to link me a rip after I posted that yesterday, and it's quite good. The Stone Wings track has struck me in particular. I think their album is good, although it can be a little fruity for my tastes, but Ascent of the Flames is similarly different. Can't really put my finger on it to be honest, but it's good. I can upload if you like.

Nice np, btw.

Does anyone listen to Wijlen Wij, and if so, are they worth my $$ to go ahead and order their album?

NP: Disembowelment - The Tree Of Life And Death

NemesisDivina 01-27-2008 08:34 PM

Am I the only one here that doesn't really 'get' Nadja? I just don't understand what's so OMG AMAZING about them.

Bordello 01-27-2008 08:35 PM

what have you heard

and at what volume

NemesisDivina 01-27-2008 08:41 PM

Bodycage and Truth Becomes Death. I blasted Bodycage in my ears, but that gave me a headache, plus I didn't like it at all because it was just like three notes the entire time and I basically forgot I was listening to music. Truth Becomes Death I played at relatively low volumes...

Maybe drone just isn't my thing.

Nostalgia 01-27-2008 08:41 PM

They're ok if you listen to them sporadically.

Bordello 01-27-2008 08:53 PM

first off you should listen to them at high volumes with either a stereo or through decent computer speakers with good low end. they aren't drone either

Trembled is probably one of their more acessible albums. shorter songs that are a lot easier to get into, especially "No Cure for the Lonely".

Thaumogenesis is 60 minutes of amazing and has a lot of dynamic variety. pretty stuff

Nice, after hearing this I will also try and hunt it down or see if I can get my hands on a hard copy.

As far as Wijlen Wij goes, it's another Stijn van Cauter project, so yeah it's quality stuff.
If you Like Until Death Overtakes Me and his tons of ther projects, you'll like this. :)

On Nadja:
It indeed needs loud volume and well, it's just something that should grab you.
If not, then I can't help you.
It's just a very click or not click band.
I love them.
They take me away on sonic waves far away, hypnothic.

Dimmu Burger 01-28-2008 11:04 AM

I listened to Visceral Evisceration yesterday. It was suprisingly good!
