I am really diggin Slint lately. First of all, post-rock with vocals is nice, but post-rock with spoken word vocals by a guy that can actually write a damn poem is wonderful. They've also got the same thing I like about Bark Psychosis: a strong rhythm section. It's the difference between their captivating epics and wannabes' plodding, boring, excruciatingly long experiments.

donnydo77 07-25-2005 08:24 PM

Marley and the Wailers GOLD.

Robert Crumb 07-25-2005 08:46 PM

Replacements, Richard Hell, Rita Lee and... um, RJD2.

Rrrrrrrrrrrr. Are.

My brother talks to that guy on a different forum. He's got the biggest ego ever.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - s/t

can't stop listening to this. So, so good.
It really gets better with every listen, doesn't it? Today I've been digging that, Elbow - Leaders Of The Free World, and Afghan Whigs - Black Love.

Edit: Unediting Rocket From the Crypt - Scream, Dracula, Scream! despite the horrible album name.

Dog 07-25-2005 11:16 PM

Hehe, I realized how dumb that RFTC album title sounds, but what the hell: Rocket From The Crypt - Scream, Dracula, Scream!

Zappa 07-25-2005 11:19 PM

I listened to that RFtC album once and couldn't believe members of that band were in Hot Snakes, because I found it quite shabby.

Dog 07-25-2005 11:23 PM

Well they're not up to par with Hot Snakes, but to be honest I didn't even know that members of Hot Snakes were in RFTC until you just mentioned it, so I wasn't comparing the two.

I've found this to be decent, but just ordinary indie rock. It don't see it bringing out something that particularly new or overly interesting to the table. It's by no means bad, but nothing deserving of this attention.

Luxor 07-26-2005 12:00 AM

Jimi Hendrix, Matthew Barber and Weezer for me today.

br3ad_man 07-26-2005 01:28 AM

The Murder by Death album that DFelon reviewed. It's pretty cool on first listen, but I'd give it a 3.5/5

Bandaid 07-26-2005 01:45 AM

Jimi Hendrix
theredsunband
Airport City Shuffle
Calexico

Tangy zizzle 07-26-2005 02:16 AM

RFTC are awesome. Not as cool as Snakes or Jehu, but still awesome.

Speedo has a shiity voice though.

I agree, it's neither amazing or bad.

Yeah, I'm going to be digging this album for quite a while.

Bukowski 07-26-2005 09:53 AM

I'm diggin Beck's Guero, it's better than i first thought, it's real cool.

Oh yeah, and Bear Vs. Shark (Right now you're in the best of hands). Their drummer is totally outstanding, really creative and technically adept. I need to get Terrorhawk soon.

Zappa 07-26-2005 10:39 AM

Nothing Lasts...But Nothing is Lost by Shpongle just came in the mail, so that's what's up next for me. Hopefully I can endorse it fully once I've played it.
