Anything pre black album is good. The black album isn't the best, and it bears no resemblence to the albums before it, so it sounds like a new band. From each album..Whiplash, RTL, Orion, Harvester of sorrow/To live is to die.

holy $hit. i just saw metallica and godsmack sunday at MCI Center in DC...omg that was the most amazing concert i have ever seen (eh godsmack was alright) but metallica was phuckin amazing. do they always have hour-long encores??????

You're right, I probably LOVE the solos more on MOP but I think the guy asked which CD Kirk excelled on.

Oh, I'm not too sure about on AJFA, the only songs I listen to off that are Blackened, And Justice, Eye Of The Beholder, One, Shortest Straw, To Live Is To Die and Dyer's Eve. Out of those songs the only one that has sweep-picking is Shortest Straw and it only has it once :eek:. But, I must agree the creativity of the solos on AJFA matches the technique and ability of the solos on RTL. So they're about the same.

EDIT: To the person that was talking about the lyrics, listen to the Creeping Death lyrics whilst listening to the song. They're written about all that sh[b][i][/b][/i]it in the bible where they put the blood on the dorrs and the angel of death wouldn't kill the people in those houses etc, pure GENIUS. Also, the Disposable Hereos lyrics are mint as are the Ride The Lightning lyrics and For Whom The Bell Tolls.

totally new to these forums, but been coming to mx for years...
started guitar about 3 years ago thanks to Metallica. 2nd Album I _ever_ bought was Live ****: Binge and Purge (got it when i was like 8 coz it had the word '****' in it :O)
1st Album i ever bought was some Testament album when i was 6 coz it had a dude having his face being ripped open by hooks, that I thought was kinda cool...

Neway... recently saw Metallica for the 1st time (11 years to see them is a long time) at the Download Festival and i practicly fainted when they came on stage and i was in awe the 1st 3 songs (Blackened, Feul and Ride the Lightning)... ****ing awsome!!!

Just thought id join these forums coz of this threat and add my contribution...

Id say one of my favourite songs (u guys might think its crap) is No Leaf Clover
I love everything else Metallica does like One, Unforgiven, Blackened, Seek and Destroy (another 1 of my faves.)

I am new to the forums to and been playing guitar for about three years, I personally think metallica went downhill the moment the released load. Kill em all probably has the most impressive guitar and I cant decide if i like master of puppets or and justice for all musically speaking

you mean the song or the album? if your talking about the album you can't compare them. they are completely amazing. but kill em all as the most impressive? i think thats pushin it...its good but i think Ride the Lightning beats it out

i just saw em last night in philly. WOW!! best concert i will ever see. Even though most of the crowd really wanted to see metallica, they treated godsmack pretty good. Trujillo played a crazy solo w/ some slapping and i now have so much more respect for him. EFFFIN AwESOME!

Metallica will go back to the studio in march or april or somthing like that
and now they have a real bass player (w/o disrespect to BoB rock) so the new album should be awesome
