Really. You can't have that.

I know no metalheaded girls...though I try, it doesn't work.
Your from the new york area right?

If so, you'll agree with me when I say the new york/long island area is infested with guidos and white teenagers who think they are from the hood.

Same here.
They're all into the "rock" bands in the charts. Like The Kooks and Artic Monkeys.

Although I do know a couple who are into DT.

eug008 06-06-2006 04:04 AM
i liked the improv jam in BTL on budokan. it was kinda cute the way portnoy bounced around hitting the little coconut things haha. those tiny cymbals are kinda "flirty"-sounding if you get my drift.

i take it you're not a fan of rudess?
Rudess is alright, he's a bit of a hack on some songs

Moore>Rudess tho

I listened to a few Artic Monkey songs. They are ok, but nothing to get excited about.

In college I plan on getting alot of people into some good rock and metal.

ghettoeddo 06-06-2006 12:14 PM

in college, i am definitely like...gona find people who wanna play GOOD music in a band cuz the one im in...eh. all good friends but they like goo goo dolls, pedro the lion, relient k. BAH.

it'd be orgasmic to cover like...disappear or take the time. oh man.

GenuineImitation 06-06-2006 08:01 PM

ghettoeddo 06-06-2006 09:24 PM

take the time...minus the solo in the middle yes :]

i think im gonnna play octavarium for my senior recital. it was actaly my girlfriend's idea :] i love her haha
ill play the CD as the backing track and just play along. if i can find someone who'll edit the guitar track out, ill do that.

If you leave the guitar track in, everyone will think your a god.

ghettoeddo 06-06-2006 09:29 PM

hey i can play most of it in my own right
haha

i have a huge favor to ask anyone...does anyone have the sheet music for the PIANO part in liquid tension expeirment's "hourglass?" i've learned the guitar parts and i'd also like to play it for the recital btu im lacking the piano music. it'd be a little difficult to write it out by ear...

GenuineImitation 06-06-2006 09:32 PM

I dont have it, but if you have guitar pro, you should be able to get it off of ulimate-guitar.com

ghettoeddo 06-06-2006 09:48 PM

eehh no luck. i dont have guitar pro, and powertabs only have the guitar parts.

guess im gonna have to write it out by ear or drop it heh.

GenuineImitation 06-06-2006 09:55 PM

Figuring out by ear could be kind of difficult.

Im pissed. I was going to review Train of Thought, but some guy beat me to it.

ghettoeddo 06-06-2006 09:56 PM

a lot of it actually doubles the guitar part. i think i can figure out the right hand pretty easily, but the left hand arpeggios and chords could be tricky. i could take the lazy man's way out and just arpeggiate what the guitar chord is for that bar :]

anywho, BACK to dream theater.
NP: universal mind-LTE <--one crazy guitar riff. CRAZY.

GenuineImitation 06-06-2006 09:58 PM

My friend may use Octavarium as a graduation song because of its "full circle" theme. He is no longer one of the oldest in HS, but now one of the youngest in college.

ghettoeddo 06-06-2006 10:01 PM

HEY i like that.
props to your friend.

it's just like...us 2 talking in here.

GenuineImitation 06-06-2006 10:03 PM

Pretty much, although that will change soon. Im going to go to bed in a few minutes.

Im the one who gave my friend the idea since he is now a DT fan bcause of me.

ghettoeddo 06-06-2006 10:06 PM

ok props to you haha
peace out. im going out to watch THE OMEN :]

happy 6-6-06 fellow dream theater fans~

GenuineImitation 06-06-2006 10:08 PM

Happy 6-6-06

eug008 06-07-2006 01:41 AM

What movie?

Jev 06-07-2006 04:22 AM

The Omen I think.

Guess who can play the Universal Mind riff :D

Not me :upset:

But I'm working on it.

jpshortstuff 06-07-2006 04:25 AM

which one, the one at the start? thats pretty cool.
i love the bit where they all have crazy solos, then theres a piano bit and then they go inot that funky bass riff.

Jev 06-07-2006 04:38 AM

Yeah the one at the start.
I keep hitting the B string :p

jpshortstuff 06-07-2006 04:46 AM

/checks TAB
hmm, i didnt know it was string skipping, thats quite hard. im terrible at fast string skipping.

eug008 06-07-2006 06:33 AM

Im getting close to aceing it... i think

GenuineImitation 06-07-2006 07:54 AM

I want to learn Paradigm Shift, but my fingers just dont move fast enough.

Jev 06-07-2006 09:37 AM

Same here.
I just temelo pick and cry :(

Petrucci 06-08-2006 08:52 AM

lol

Gahhl 06-08-2006 09:03 AM

Dream Theater

heya guys, i bought Images and Words and listened and listened to it. I love that album also because John Myung played a 4 string bass which makes the songs playable, insainly hard, but playable with a regular base guitar.

Shortly After this i bought tickets to go and watch them live in wolverhampton (anybody go btw?) and they were imense. Whilst watching them 'The Glass Prison' came on and i just stood in awe at the whole bands technical ability.

I bought there entire collection and at the minute i love 6 degrees of inner turbulence, octavarium and train of thought.

story of my life... :upset:
the onyl LTE song i can play is hourglass and that's insanely easy with the excption of a few quirky chords. oh and state of grace.
paradigm shift and biaxident would be orgasmic...

anyone have the same problem? my left hand can move as fast as petrucci (ok maybe not, but ALMOST) but it's always my right hand that can never keep up...

Lord Abortion 06-08-2006 02:27 PM

I love Hourglass, it's my favourite LTE song by far, beautiful.

Yes, my left hand is pretty fast but it's difficult for my right to pick every note even though I can tremelo pick faster than my left hand can move.

If you get what I mean.

ghettoeddo 06-08-2006 07:20 PM

yea i getcha. i think that's the same for most people because it's less movement to pick than to finger; much closer proximity for the right hand.

whoever was shooting for that universal mind riff...i wish you teh best of the luck with that string-skipping opening riff. petrucci = meanie face

Chu 06-08-2006 08:57 PM

Yeah, I have decent legato, but horrible picking, it's just my accuracy, if I had better accuracy, I wouldn't be as bad, I can play quite fast with my right hand (My left hand can go twice as fast though  ) I just can't guarantee I'll hit the string every time, or I'll do some unconscious alt. pick...

Atica 06-08-2006 09:04 PM

That happens to me must of the time, that's why i'm working on it.

Chu 06-08-2006 09:17 PM

I just do **** loads of scale work, and a fair bit of string skipping..

I can't say I'm improving much anymore, at least compared to how much I was when I began these exercises, so I'm really looking for any sort of new exercise.

Element of LED 435 06-08-2006 09:47 PM

im rele improving on the guitar solo for metropolis ( after the crazy fast part where it mostly sounds like keyboards) its so fun to play and i can already play the part before the crazy fast part good and basically my next challenge is to learn the solo for take the time
