My guess for the Holy Wars demo is sometime in '89. Menza was already in, but Dave hadn't found Marty yet, so I'm guessing it was early-mid '89. I honestly like the Poland "synthish" solos better than the recorded Friedman solos, I just think the tone is insanely awesome.

Five Magics 04-09-2006 11:06 PM

has anyone got the new DVD - Arsenal of Megadeth yet?

Apocalyptic Raids 04-09-2006 11:30 PM

I haven't got it yet. I've seen it in stores though.

am thinking about getting it but i always buy somthing else with my money...

Lord Abortion 04-10-2006 06:02 AM

I don't really want to much...it's not like it's a full concert.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-10-2006 06:06 AM

I always feel with DVDs like I would be better off with an album. I never really watch them often.

GenuineImitation 04-10-2006 09:19 PM

Im going to get the DVD as soon as I get Maiden's Death on the Road which I have been meaning to get for awhile now.

Whats on the Megadeth DVD if its not a full concert?

Bazarov 04-10-2006 09:32 PM

I'm the same way. I've had the Rude Awakening DVD for almost a year, and I've only watched once.

I think it's all their videos with interviews and stuff.

Isn't RA an album also?

Apocalyptic Raids 04-11-2006 02:48 AM

Yeah, there is a version on CD.

GenuineImitation 04-11-2006 07:20 AM

That seems pretty cool.

I think I might get it.
It has more tracks than the DVD I believe.

Bazarov 04-12-2006 02:29 PM

Now Playing: RUST IN FUCKING PEACE...POLARIS

Once again, this is my favorite Megadeth song.

Rattlehead 04-12-2006 02:34 PM

i find the riffs on RIP somewhat erratic. i love it! it is indeed a great song, but IMO not their best.

Bazarov 04-12-2006 02:40 PM

Oh no, I know it may not be their most complex song or song that takes a lot of skill, but I'm just hooked on that song right now. I'll probably go back to Hangar 18 as my all-time favorite. It usually always does.

Rattlehead 04-12-2006 02:45 PM

yea yea lol, i like hangar 18, but if there was a great album, it would be KIMB. i LOVE every song on there. i like every deth song, but there are also many that i love.

Jev 04-12-2006 03:03 PM

Holy Wars is a firm favourite for me.

I quite like Sweating Bullets too although a lot of people don't.

Lord Abortion 04-12-2006 03:05 PM

Back in the day

I am sort of new to megadeth anyone wanna suggest some starting points, good songs, what cds to buy first etc...

Jev 04-12-2006 04:48 PM

Definitely get Rust in Peace. You'll be blown away.

Aw3someman 04-12-2006 04:49 PM

Check out Greatest Hits: Back to the Start, then go for Rust in Peace

To get into them I'd try countdown to extinction or peace sells. Probably countdown to extinction because by alot of people it's considered there best album, and if you like them after that try Rust in Peace a truly amazing album. Some individual songs:

Symphony of Destruction
Countdown to extinction
Psychotron
Peace sells... but who's buyin?
The conjuring
Holy Wars... The punishment due
Five magics
Tornado of souls
The system has failed
A tout le monde (for a lighter side)

chorbalan 04-12-2006 05:13 PM

Seems to me like Rust in Peace is the overall favourite album around here?

Jev 04-12-2006 05:14 PM

Pretty much between RIP/Peace Sells round here.

Hourglass 04-12-2006 05:18 PM
Pretty much between RIP/Peace Sells round here.
Yeah but I think people gettin into them should get CtE cuz it's kind of their most 'mainstream', for lack of a better word, album.

chorbalan 04-12-2006 05:24 PM

I am listening to the songs Warlockwanter suggested and I gotta say it's descent enough, not a fan of the vocals but he IS a great guitar player.

Jev 04-12-2006 05:28 PM

The vocals should grow on you, they did with me.

chorbalan 04-12-2006 05:36 PM

Probably that's what happened with Anthrax.

Just as I read this, Rust in Peace.. Polaris comes on :o

'Tis indeed a great song, although I think the demo version (If you have Rust in Peace Remastered) is better then the CD version, the drums are more interesting imo.

P.S. Dave's vocals are so good :smoke:

Bazarov 04-12-2006 07:46 PM

Hey hey hey! Someone that agrees with me. I have both remastered and original, and I actually like his vocals on the remastered better too (for RIP...Polaris).

Yup, Mustaine and Araya are my top 2 favorite vocalists.

Aw3someman 04-12-2006 07:54 PM

eww... i hate araya and slayer in general for that matter. Sry butcher :p

Bazarov 04-12-2006 08:01 PM

I hate people from Florida. Sorry man.

Chu 04-12-2006 08:17 PM

lol

Bazarov 04-12-2006 08:20 PM

It's the senior citizen retirement capitol of America. Like Seinfeld said, once old people retire, they have to move to Florida. It's the law.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-12-2006 08:30 PM

Obituary, Morbid Angel etc etc are from Florida.

win

Bazarov 04-12-2006 08:37 PM

Pfft, those bands suck. America should just give Florida back to Spain.

HAIL TRUE METAL 04-12-2006 08:49 PM
