Heh, I wish I didn't come into work. I can't stop yawning, I'm SO tired.
|
That smells
|
I am so sick of school :(
Only 3 weeks till winter break :) |
In economcis we learned about rap artists who rip off of Classic Rock.
|
I hate when they try to pretend rap is some legitimate form of entertainment in school courses. It just makes my blood boil. They tried to make us learn a little bit about it in Gr. 9, but I asked the teacher if there would be anything about rap on the final exam. He said no, so I skipped those parts :D
|
It is a legitimite form of entertainment. |
My teacher is a classic rock nut, so he let us listen to the origial songs.
Queen- Under Pressure Rolling Stones - One Last Time. |

One cool case was Gary O'sullivan who sued a rapper Biz Markie. He let us listen to both and THe rapper used the same background music and then rapped the same lyrics, the thing is he never bothered to get permission.

[QUOTE=LordDargon]Gr.

Becuase I said so. Got it? Good.

ill let you handle this. ill just get pwned.
on that subject, beastie boys is right next to my bodom cds |
I like Beastie Boys too. NWA, Wu-Tang, Common, The Roots, Grandmaster Flash, etc.
Notice no DMX or any crap on there? Just like rock, there is good stuff and bad stuff, and the good stuff is generally not the stuff you hear in commercials or all over the radio. |
yup. Im more into 'old-school' hip-hop. Ie, the sugar hill gang, break boys and for some reason chaka kahn (spelling?)
|
I like the songs that Cody Chesnut did with The Roots.
|
[QUOTE=88_Fingers_Joe]:upset: oh right so now because i said something you get all angry.
oh well, everyones different. how has your day been.[/QUOTE] Beastie Boys songs are the ultimate in predictability... every line goes like this [I][one guy raps a line] [the whole band shouts the last word or syllable of the line] [next guy raps a line] [the whole band shouts the last word or syllable of the line] [last guy raps a line] [the whole band shouts the last word or syllable of the line] [REPEAT X 100][/I] Maybe you guys find that entertaining, I dunno. |
I'm 14 and im the only one in my class who actually likes rock and metal
all the others are a bunch of idiots and listen to all this pop ****e! can't wait till I get to leave school! but listenin to rock on my personal cd player when im supposed to be listening does make it better (most of the time) |

If you care about... passing. Or whatever that unimportant stuff is. Like A Job Away From McDonalds. Who needs that anyways? |
I would pay more attention to my grades than to what band I'm listening to at the time if i were you.
|
Rap is the same as metal. All the popular stuff is garbage, and the underground is brilliant. They don't rap about their bling bling, or the big screen TVs in their pimped out H2s. They have very well written verses about society, politics, etc.
|
i don't listen to a lot of rap, but i do listen to certain amounts of 2pac and Bone thugs and some eminem. Those guys are brilliant lyricists, and while i do argue whether there is any musical talent involved in rap, i will say that these three artists have lyrical talent. It is just like any genre of music--there's stuff that's real, and stuff just made up to be popular or catchy(note: catchy does not mean bad, however).

definatly
have u guys heard the new agnostic fron song peace? |
Great argument you got there Dargon

Which the one against Beastie Boys? I thought it was quite good, seeing as it's true. |
Beastie Boys sell because they try to be cheesey, people who realize that listen to them because it's funny, people who don't get that either don't listen, or listen because they seriously think it's good.
