yeah. It doesnt work for us anymore. Weve been together for 2 years and thats enough for us. And I almost did it before christmas but that would have been way to cold so I'm gonna try to do it today so I can start the year 2007 as a single man

I'm looking for some opinions/critique's on a couple songs I've written:

They're only midi, straight out of guitar pro,
The first one is a slightly more progressive sort of sound the band wanted to explore, I'm not looking at ways to improve the drumming, as it's just some beats i wrote just to 'fill the gap', so the other band members can hear how it could come together.

The second is some more of a black metal piece, (BEWARE 5:00 minutes long, if your no a fan of this genre you probaley don't want to listen) I've just quickly thrown this one together, again, this one is nothing flashy, just ideas, the whole purpose of me asking your input is to improve the songs (structure, themes, etc) i don't particularly care about the drumming, as i play it completely differently with the band, this is just 'filling the gap.'
I'm particularly interested in ways to improve the basslines, as I have a lot of trouble writing parts for bass.

First one reminds me a lot of tool. D Phrygian mode, and its 5/8. (Sup tool! =) )

You could make the song more intresting with a counterpoint guitar part instead of the 80s style harmonization.

Some neat ideas, just need to be refined IMO

EDIT: I actually thought the 6/4 part was pretty neat. I can see a real mellow vocal line over that.

Oh and your "bad" notes remind me of the james bond theme.

And what are these "Bad" notes you speak of exactly?
I have a few ideas as to which notes they could be but I'm not sure

15/8, 5/8 dont matter. =) I was just counting it as a phrase of 3 bars of 5/8....which equals 15/8 anyway :lol:

When I gave it a second listen you are changing the mode you use alot in the song.

It sounds like the first part goes from Dminor, to D phrygian, and back and forth. I dunno, it creates an odd sound if thats what you wanted <shrug>

EDIT: Kinda Indian sounding. Ya thats it.

Which the bond theme uses something fairly similar.

Umm, well it modulates up a 4ths after the first bar, then back down.
So it's in D natural minor, then in G minor, and back and forth.

And yes, I think it sounds a bit Indian too

It's 4:50 AM. I cant sleep; It's gawdamn hot. I am home from vacation. Yesterday was such a bad day.

We were heading home from San Diego, CA. Traffic was bad, as usual. It was slowing down, and out of nowhere some big *** SUV slammed into the back of our van. What do you know, the bastard starts racing away in the side lane. We couldnt even tell what brand vehicle let alone see the liscence plate. Wasted 3 hours dealing with the cops and nothing can be done anyways.

Nobody was hurt, and the damage wasnt catostrophic. He hit the corner of the bumper which destroyed the right side.

The driving is already bad enough in SD. I cant imagine driving in LA.

We were driving once and this car full of mexican people (no offense to anybody) were going well over 110 mph. They were going fast, until this old guy got in front of them.

They drove to his side, flicked him off, threw a bunch of eggs at his car, and pulled off a massive 5 lane turn into the exit.
