heres my ideal setlist:

Panic Attack
Pull me Under
Stream Of Conciousness
Overture 1928/ Strange Deja Vu
Fatal Tragedy
Take the Time
In the Name of God
-----------------------
Metropolis pt 1.
The Mirror
Lie
About to Crash (reprise)
These Walls
The Spirit Carries On
Solitary Shell
Space Dye Vest
-------------------
The Glass Prison
A Change of Seasons
Thats a more realistic set

ghettoeddo 06-05-2006 01:44 AM

k here's my horrible attempt at a forced ideal/realistic setlist:

as i am
the mirror
lie
voices
afterlife
take the time
metropolis pt. 1
wait for sleep
learning to live
---------------------
the glass prison
this dying soul
the root of all evil
peruvian skies
home
the spirit carries on
misunderstood
endless sacrifice
sacrificed sons
in the name of god
--------------
octavarium
a change of seasons

Chu 06-05-2006 01:48 AM

tbh I'd be pretty happy seeing The Glass Prison, In The Name of God, The Root of All Evil... A Change of Seasons, and Octavarium.. And maybe some solos (Give a few hours for solos.. I like my wankage :p)...

ghettoeddo 06-05-2006 01:50 AM

as much as i love petrucci...
i could not bear to stand hours of him soloing endlessly.
dear god.

Inkstar 06-05-2006 03:35 AM

Here's mine:

Overture 1928
Strange Deja Vu
The Silent Man
Another Day
Endless Sacrifice
War Inside My Head
The Test That Stumped Them All
--------
These Walls
Home
The Dance Of Eternity
Metropolis Pt. 1
Scarred
The Mirror
Under A Glass Moon
The Answer Lies Within
--------
Panic Attack
Erotomania
Learning To Live
Finally Free
Pull Me Under
A Change Of Seasons
------------------------
Octavarium

Yah, tad unrealistic I guess, but still it'd be awesome. :)

Agreed.
I got bored during the LATB version of Beyond This Life.
I know most of it wasn't JP but I get bored watching them jam halfway through songs and stretching them out to 4 hours long.

Inkstar 06-05-2006 04:54 AM

I just created that setlist I posted above, and it's all renamed and put into Disc 1, 2 and 3, and I've made the album "Dream 'Dream Theater' Setlist!' fo shizzle. Listening through the whole thing now. It's awesome!

Jev 06-05-2006 05:01 AM

How long is it :p

Inkstar 06-05-2006 05:07 AM

Fecking long. :P But hey, it's a Dream one! Not a realistic one lol.

Can't imagine how fecked Portnoy would be after it. Even more-so than the Roseland show.

eug008 06-05-2006 05:36 AM
Agreed.

I liked JP's solo in the "Jam Section" but i thought Rudess stretched it out way too long tho

Clunge 06-05-2006 07:07 AM

Completely un-real/unlikely setlist.

Take into account also I only really like DT's later work.

Root Of All Evil
As I Am
Honor Thy Father
Beyond This Life
This Dying Soul
Panic Attack
-----
Blind Faith
Disappear
Misunderstood
The Glass Prison
The Great Debate
-----
Strange Deja Vu
Never Enough
Sacrificed Sons
These Walls
In The Name Of God
-----
Octavarium

Inkstar 06-05-2006 07:17 AM

Yeah I figured that. :P

But that's a pretty nice setlist. Good ending. :thumb:

Rudess seems to live in his own world anyway.

Lord Abortion 06-05-2006 10:37 AM

Yeah, I deliberately chose between 8VM and ACOS, and left out SDV, because they won't play it without Kevmo.

Jev 06-05-2006 10:46 AM

You're telling me they wouldn't play it at gunpoint at your festival?

Lord Abortion 06-05-2006 10:55 AM
You're telling me they wouldn't play it at gunpoint at your festival?
Oh...I forgot about that:D

I feel an extra encore coming on...

i liked the improv jam in BTL on budokan. it was kinda cute the way portnoy bounced around hitting the little coconut things haha. those tiny cymbals are kinda "flirty"-sounding if you get my drift.

i take it you're not a fan of rudess?

Yeah, I love the little call and response thing with the drums and keyboard, it's brilliant.

ghettoeddo 06-05-2006 02:43 PM

no news yet of a new DT album/tour huh.

*sad*

Lord Abortion 06-05-2006 02:46 PM

I would suspect they'll be writing by the end of Autumn.

ghettoeddo 06-05-2006 02:49 PM

hope so. hope so.
i wouldn't mind them taking their time in getting a good album out.

if i recall correctly...train of thought was written and recorded in 3 weeks? i like ToT but everything is...the same.

Lord Abortion 06-05-2006 02:51 PM

Vacant?

I'm listening to all of LSFNY tonight.

On Home now...love this song.

ghettoeddo 06-05-2006 02:52 PM

vacant was nice, but everything else the same. endless sacrifice is my favorite off of there, followed by ITNOG.

i need to get the CD version of LSFNY

I am a fan. It's just he sometimes drags things out. And smiles for no reason, which scares me.

Lord Abortion 06-05-2006 02:55 PM

You do...the extra songs are amazing.

ghettoeddo 06-05-2006 02:59 PM

yesyes.

NP: the wretched spawn-cannibal corpse

i like their instrumentations, but the vocals REALLY dont do it for me. im not into the death metal/black metal deal w/ growling vocals. i prefer singing.

maybe rudess is a child molester.

Try The Bleeding, the vocals are more comprehensible.
They're my third favourite band now, and when I first heard them, it took me a while to get into the vocals too.

While he may look like one, no one from Dream Theater is capable of such a thing.

Lord Abortion 06-05-2006 04:43 PM

Anyone got "acoustic dreams"?

It's like a load of live acoustic stuff...

Apparently so. I'll get it sent to me tomorrow from someone I know.
a female someone:)

I'm lucky with the girls who like DT, it seems:)

A GIRL WHO HAD HEARD AND ENJOYS DT? Sorry for the caps, I just got excited. I have never heard of such a thing, at least where I live. Even the so called "metal head" listen to Fall Out Boy and Eminem.

Yep...it's great

/is loved up:)

GenuineImitation 06-05-2006 05:19 PM

I need to find a girl like that. Maybe I'll find one at my university next sepetember.

ghettoeddo 06-05-2006 05:39 PM

i took my girlfriend to see dream theater two times; once at gigantour and the other on this last tour.

she likes the ballads, but not the heavy/progressive stuff.
it's a start right? ><

could i get that acoustic dreams bootleg if you do? thanks :smoke:

GenuineImitation 06-05-2006 05:46 PM

It is a start. I got my sister into Metropolis, but its not the same as getting a girlfriend into a band.

Lord Abortion 06-05-2006 05:47 PM

Yeah, I'll send it on when I get it.

ghettoeddo 06-05-2006 05:48 PM

she turned on backstreet boys and fall out boy in the car today so i made some snide remarks about 'em and she goes "well, at least they dont have the same old solos in every song."

and i went "so...what's the problem again?" :smoke:

Should have slapped her right then and there. Outbreaks like that cannot be tolerated.

Shattered_Future 06-05-2006 06:31 PM
Should have slapped her right then and there. Outbreaks like that cannot be tolerated.
Really. You can't have that.

I know no metalheaded girls...though I try, it doesn't work.
