My Morning Jacket - Z

after a couple more plays, this is a little better than I first thought.
How does it compare to their other albums?

Zappa 10-08-2005 11:39 AM

:-D

I bet they rule live. I just gotta wait until Monday.

Electrocution 10-08-2005 12:02 PM

I've seen them live before, they're pretty cool.

I've been listening to Sonic Youth and GY!BE. Nothing new.

Anxious 10-08-2005 12:04 PM

I'm listening to Shpongle for the first time right now. It reminds me of the soundtrack to Metroid Prime. I like it alot.

Zappa 10-08-2005 12:17 PM
I'm listening to Shpongle for the first time right now. It reminds me of the soundtrack to Metroid Prime. I like it alot.
Which Shpongle album have you got?

Anxious 10-08-2005 12:24 PM

Are You Shpongled?

Zappa 10-08-2005 12:27 PM
Are You Shpongled?
Ah, cool. If you dig it, definitely get their follow up, Tales of the Inexpressible.

Anxious 10-08-2005 12:29 PM

I'm going to have to, I can tell you that right now.

6Stringer 10-08-2005 12:50 PM

Today I've been listening to

Television - Marquee Moon
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy (its a rainy/cloudy day and its almost perfect for HotH)
Morphine - Cure For Pain

Dynamite Hack - "Boys In the Hood" has been stuck in my head all day today, for some reason.

Sam 10-08-2005 12:55 PM

Metriod Prime kicks ***.

Zappa 10-08-2005 12:56 PM

Hum - Downward is Heavenward
That's an awesome album. I have Zappa to thank for ever mentioning them because I would have no clue they existed (I don't even recognize their one hit "Stars" even though I apparently should). "Coming Home" and "The Scientists" are some of my favorites on the album.

Interstate 10-08-2005 03:29 PM

Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene

I'm trying to get tickets to see them live.

*crosses fingers*

Interstate 10-08-2005 03:31 PM
Make sure you do, they put on a fun show.
So I hear. I'm working out if I can afford it right now.

YDload 10-08-2005 03:34 PM
"Stars" is a great song but I haven't heard anything else on the album it's from. I should check it out.
What really sucks is that Switchfoot just came out with a new single called "Stars," and it has a very spacey feel to it that owes so much to HUM that it's practically plagiarism

Anxious 10-08-2005 04:47 PM

Look at you , waltzing in here with your big avatar.

to keep this relevant, Cat Power-Moon Pix

Robert Crumb 10-08-2005 04:48 PM

Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass
The Left Banke
Broken Social Scene (but not the new one)

I need to scrape together some cash so I can buy the twenty billion albums that came out/are coming out recently that I'm interested in. Also, the Left Banke's "I Haven't Got the Nerve" is such an incredibly awesome song.

Interstate 10-08-2005 04:54 PM

Detroit Cobras
Frog Eyes
Oceansize

I'm off to bed now. Peace.

br3ad_man 10-08-2005 05:15 PM

I didn't think anyone liked him. That's a great album.

Zappa 10-08-2005 07:22 PM

Pink Floyd - Meddle
Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman

br3ad_man 10-08-2005 08:09 PM

I'll Take The Veil 10-08-2005 08:52 PM

Bear Vs. Shark- Terrorhawk
John Frusciante- Shadows Collide With People
Radiohead- The Bends

"The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret"
"Little Sister"

Box Car Racer-

"All Systems Go"

just to name a few

Spectrum 10-08-2005 10:08 PM

I'm hugely into a band I discovered called Lake Trout, and I just bought their CD Not Them, You today. I was surprised to find it at Best Buy, considering I only know them because a friend of mine from school has a cousin in the band and he showed me their Myspace. They actually have a really mature and professional sound, especially for an Indie band... they have a great retro feel that still sounds like an advancement and a future... it's great "intellectual" rock. Very immersive stuff, but often laced with a great pop sensibility and an excellent cover of "Street Fighting Man". I love it.

br3ad_man 10-08-2005 10:27 PM

Metric
Tom Waits
Lightning Bolt
The Locust

Tapeworm 10-08-2005 10:52 PM

YDload 10-08-2005 11:36 PM

At the Drive-In: Acrobatic Tenement

Yeah this is a great album. "Ticklish" is one of the band's best songs ever, no doubt.
