drummguy731 12-28-2006 09:46 PM

HAHAHAA, oh futuro. White, I'd look into some music writing software, I've heard of some downloadable programs.
I go to church because it's a great community. The people who go to a given church, usually have at least moral values in common, so everyone in a church has an easy time getting along. I met my girlfriend at church.

My church is HUGE on service projects. This week, we decked out our old worship space with some decor, as well as sleeping bags and pillows, and then roasted up 10 turkeys, to host the homeless in the area (it's through some shelter organization... beats me). Each of our choirs did bell-ringing and caroling at local shops for salvation army. We had a volunteer group go to Feed My Starving Children tuesday, wednesday, and thursday (today) to package food. And, on top of that, the money raised at collection was spread across 28 different shelters, nursing homes, women's shelters, and vet support centers in the community.

My church has a program called "Music in the Grove" for Christian (and not-so-christian) artists. We've had Tonic Sol Fa, Sarah Hart, Pilliar, and a bunch of choral groups do concerts in our church. Once a year, the local school district's top choir does a sellout concert in our church.

My church has a 24 hour support system for parishiners and non-parishiners. A team of volunteers has a little office near the main door, that anyone is free to walk in to chat at anytime.

My church has supported my drumming for the past 3 years. My church has given me an average audience of 600 people a weekend, with over 3000 over this Christmas Eve.

My church has open bible study. Got a question? Wednesday, 6pm in the sanctuary. Often times, either our priest or a guest speaker will have a presentation on a topic of the week, and then after that there's "open discussion."

now why shouldn't i go to church again?
I agree that it is probably a great community to help you through problems or any other thing that might arise, but i like figuring things out for myself and knowing why things are the way they are. Religion tells you how things are and that's that. It's like saying that 2+2=4 and they say that that is just because. No explanation, that's just the way it is.

they have targets everywhere... it's like wal mart... no matter where you go they have it... i'm pretty sure they have targets in china... anyway i had a mocha chocolate smoothie today... it was very good... i think i will get one tomorow as well... also bought an xs20 splash today with my christmas money... i love it... my favorite thing on my drumset right now... only problem is now i've become splash happy because i haven't had a splash for like the past year and a half... and now i do... which makes me very happy...

so i have 2 new cymbals now including my crash i got for christmas... and when i get some more money together i'm gonna get another crash/ride... or at least like an 18" or 20" crash... for some reason lately all i wanna play are big washy crashes... i like how you can get all kinds of different sounds out of them... i still owe my dad 60 bucks though and my insurance is due the first of the month so i think i'll probably have to wait until my next paycheck
Religion is stupid. Somebody tells you something to believe in and you can't think for yourself.
Possibly the most incorrect statement I have heard in a long time.

some religions YES are like that, but those are what I like to call idiotic religions. In the church i attend (I am the only person My age there lol, my family is catholic I am Seventh Day Adventist) We discuss what could possibly be meant by each scripture and have friendly debates over eachone, and the preechers put each scripture into such an easy understanding it's amazing really.

Srry I jsut kinda wanted to get that out there lol.

But yah, releigion isn't as you stated lol, lets just say that (seeing as I really didn't address you post at all and went on a massive talk about my religion haha.)

fishbulb 12-28-2006 10:13 PM

I'm not talking at all about what religions are telling people to believe in, it's just the idea that you don't think for yourself is what is stupid.

White 12-28-2006 10:21 PM
I'm not talking at all about what religions are telling people to believe in, it's just the idea that you don't think for yourself is what is stupid.
actually thats a misconception, Religions are jsut as Chippy said, it's a group of ppl each with indivdual beliefes coming together to form a great community, I go to A Church Camp every year for 12 Days, and I always Wish I could just live there, they are the nicest people you could ever meet and there is about 1,000 of them and it's an amazing thing.

It's a good thing religions don't force you to believe them then, isn't it?

drummguy731 12-28-2006 10:26 PM

^ That would be rather bad.

White 12-28-2006 10:30 PM

And also, anyone think it would be a good idea to ahve an "Official Technique/Rudimental Help" Thread?? were we could all ask questions/answer questions about technique? We could also help eachother with PRactice exercises and stuff? f I made it would ya use it?

Chippy569 12-28-2006 10:32 PM

Where would we put it? Beginner?

drummerdave 12-28-2006 10:37 PM

i dont feel good
at all

White 12-28-2006 10:37 PM

possibly, I'm tihnking just on the main area, (the same one with the Stronghold lol) cause it would probably involve a lot of stuff more advanced then beginner, and a lot of stuff that isn't considerd Advanced, it will be a very versitile thread, all levels of playing could be helpd, so it can't belong to any 1 forum.

drummguy731 12-28-2006 10:39 PM

Yeah, I think that'd be cool, start one and see if it kicks off.

White 12-28-2006 10:44 PM

well then it's up to you to post the first post haha, ask a question like "whats a good way to practice rudiments", or "how should I practice On the Kit" haha K? you poist and I will do it

wesm9787 12-28-2006 10:46 PM

i don't mind the concept of a religion itself... actually i think it's a good thing that people are taught to live a good life and be good people and all that... i just hate the nutcases that think everyone who doesn't agree with them is going to hell... so to fix that... they have to kill them... how exactly does that fix anything... like the people in the middle east shooting each other over some stupid holy land... i'm pretty sure if anyone's going to hell it's the people shooting someone else for having a different religion than them... not the guy who doesn't believe in jesus

edit: wow i was late with that one... i guess the rudiment thing would be a good thing in the beginner section but also in here... i think rudiments kind of apply to everyone no matter how long you've been playing... so maybe like a basic thing in the beginner forum and a more advanced type one in the regular one or something... i guess... i don't know

drummguy731 12-28-2006 10:47 PM
well then it's up to you to post the first post haha, ask a question like "whats a good way to practice rudiments", or "how should I practice On the Kit" haha K? you poist and I will do it
Deal

White 12-28-2006 10:52 PM

So one decision to make, Main Forum or Beginners?

And Wes, you are right on your look at religion, even if you do not belive in god there is no not seeing the benifits to Religions lol

wesm9787 12-28-2006 10:54 PM

i say make one in the main thread and maybe make a beginner thing in the beginner thread... but yea one in here at least

drummguy731 12-28-2006 10:55 PM

Well, probably the main, if you put it in the beginners, no advanced questions can really be asked. Also, if anyone remembers the guy with the huge a$$ export, he sucks because he can only play 30 min. out of the whole week. Psh, bullsh!t right there.

White 12-28-2006 10:56 PM

But I find Threads in here don't tend to stay

drummguy731 12-28-2006 10:59 PM

Yeah, well, you could post in beginning, then put in the title, "for advanced too"

White 12-28-2006 11:00 PM

don't think that would work to well lol
I'll just post it in here haha. K wait a couple mins K?

White 12-28-2006 11:01 PM
