Here is something that I wrote in the past twelve hours instead of studying for my test. I heard the melody and most of the arrangement in my head. I need to work more on the call and response and develop the call and response into more fully fledged ideas, but it's a difficult way to think particularly this is my first attempt in writing in this style. I don't think it came out too bad, I'd like to have access to a better sound set though.

that was pretty cool man! my only real gripes are the suuuuuper static bass line and the middle section

bass: if you were to walk around a little bit and find some tastey colorful notes that accent something more you could add so much depth and motion to it

middle section: sounded a little scattered up. you wouldnt happen to be willing to share the music 'sheet' for this would you? i'd like to see whats happening while i listen and ill be able to give better crit

side note, what program do you use? that muted trumpet actually sounds semi real and i dig it

Irish_Scorpion 07-18-2010 12:31 AM

I killed the Lich King. Yayyyyy

Irish_Scorpion 07-18-2010 01:54 PM

Guys, should i pawn my guitar to pay for my rent and then buy a new one with my financial aid?

jaklyons 07-18-2010 02:09 PM

No.

AG 07-18-2010 04:05 PM

You know what's awesome about the USA?

These:

24oz Monsters. That's a normal can of monster + half as much again + a resealable lid!

Awesome.

Brother in law is getting married in two hours. Should be great, I'm all suited up.

benfan 07-18-2010 04:18 PM

They cant be good for your insides man.

I went to a wedding on Saturday, got drunk on Drambuie and JD. True story.

nice kitchen

Aes820 07-18-2010 04:30 PM

Taurine is just some sort of amino acid derived from cattle bile. And has absolutely no proven 'energy giving' benefits.
All the energy from those drinks comes from the sugar and caffeine. Same thing as having a couple of espressos or cans of coke.

Wont stop me from having a man-can of red bull before a big night or long day, tho.

AG 07-18-2010 04:41 PM

I like the LowCarb one because it's 30cals for 24oz and tons of caffeine. I'd feel sick drinking that much esspresso.

I tend to drink them at work about 30mins before service gets hecktick, keeps me focused and stops me lagging. I'm sure it's psychosomatic.

Left Face Down 07-18-2010 09:19 PM

MONSTER Energy tastes like chewing gum, never really worked for me though.

Crapdragoon 07-18-2010 09:23 PM

those lo carb cans taste terrible, great with vodker tho

Blue_Moon 07-18-2010 09:45 PM

in my hungover haste i had about 5 cans of pepsi today

good lord i was bad

Kuffuffled 07-18-2010 10:44 PM

I can't drink those things. Caffeine doesn't do anything to me, but drinking alot of it plus that much sugar just gives me the shakes. I get all tense and ****

thanks a lot. on a keyboard, it's really hard to play a good bass, i figured it would sound weird to have recorded live bass with programmed instruments. You did'nt like the middle section too much? I tried to see if I could export the sheets for you from Sonar 8, but it lacks that capability. Sonar 8 is pretty terrible for doing MIDI stuff, there are sorts of bugs that I had a hard time with when doing this thing. Each time you would press play and stop, the last note that is played by any instrument hangs on as long as the digital file lasts in the program. It wasn't too bad with the drums, but for the horns, sheesh.

The sound program I'm using is just various stuff from the Dimension Pro synth i nSonar 8. It's actually a dismal sounding synth system, but I just compress to raise level and add reverb to create depth, it's the most that I can do really. I would love a better sounding set of samples, like the East West or Vienna VSTSis, but you know.

Same here, dude. What's worse is I have a friend who drinks 3-4 of those Monsters a day...

Sounds like a good way to become a sugar diabetic.

I drink one of the Monster Rippers (the one with pineapple juice) if im at work after a long night. They taste good.

with the bass im not really concerned with live or keyboard, just super impose a chord progression with the bass notes. instead of doing the 'hammer-on' thing and having it chill on whatever note that is have it find some good sounding intervals to show off, what key is the piece in?

and its not that i dislike the middle section, its just with all the digital samples it gets cloudy you know? id like to see the music just so i can know exactly whats goin on in there

srs vienna symphonic or whatever is what symphony x uses and ive read its price is in the 4 or 5 figure mark

Crapdragoon 07-20-2010 02:39 AM

just got back from seeing tool. Pretty cool, I never intended to see them, but someone got me a ticket so yeah. Ate an 1/8th of shrooms while the hip hop artist who opened for them was on, whom by the way sucked pretty bad.

benfan 07-20-2010 05:45 AM

I saw tool at Download festival a few years ago, they were pretty weird.

Lod its my 3rd consecutive day off work and im getting bored, its really tragic. Iv started reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas to try and quell this boredom.

Left Face Down 07-20-2010 11:01 PM

You should try living Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas to cure your boredom. Of course in the safety of your own room... or at least some major city in England instead of trying to jump over to the states and actually go to Las Vegas.

purple_hazer 07-21-2010 09:19 AM

besides, its bat country out there

AG 07-21-2010 09:47 AM

I've had a different beer every night, from local (within 50 miles) breweries. It's awesome out here.

purple_hazer 07-21-2010 12:23 PM

Blue_Moon 07-21-2010 01:14 PM

Kuffuffled 07-21-2010 02:24 PM

Blue_Moon 07-21-2010 03:43 PM

Kuffuffled 07-21-2010 07:02 PM

I'll play that

Left Face Down 07-21-2010 07:20 PM

For 1200 MSP I may just have to get that.

Blue_Moon 07-21-2010 07:27 PM

the only thing people were saying about it is that its only a few hours long and after u downlaod it its just there, but everyone who played it pretty much said it was worth it and the ending was amazing aparently, might download it tomorrow

I have to trade in a xbox data trasnfer cable, you have to buy em to trasnfer the hard drive data to the new xbox, after 30 minutes of using it its friggin useless, what a waste... trade it back in for half the cost though... oh well
