That's a pretty bold statement.

gmoneyguy 01-22-2008 10:14 AM

And a true on at that.

NPA: Electric Wizard - Witchcult Today

repcak 01-22-2008 01:23 PM

damn, i just listen to October Tide for the first time (thanks you peter!) and wow... they are great

though its only the first song of that album (Rain Without End)

the2stranger 01-22-2008 01:30 PM

You're welcome.
I've been whoring them quite some times, not lately though as far as I remember, but oh well. :p
Good to hear you find out about them.

Yeah, it's very nice, melancholic and Renskes vocals are nice.
I love how they mix accoustic and electric guitars.

Enjoy!

repcak 01-22-2008 01:33 PM

yeah, just nice, great music... recently i look out for bands who are perfect for internet, reading, relaxing; and you just gave me that kind of music as it seems... ;)

its great to listen to a good death-doom band (my favourite doom genre!) again, cause i have listened to anathema to dead and if i listen to MDB i would get depressed pretty soon :p but now i've got October Tide...

... death doom.... good old times :)

gmoneyguy 01-22-2008 01:35 PM

Check out November's Doom NOW!

The Novella Reservoir and The Pale Haunt Departure are great to start with.

publicastration 01-22-2008 01:36 PM

meh, ND are okay.

Ultimate death/doom bands:

Swallow The Sun
Saturnus

Tyr 01-22-2008 01:39 PM

Ya, Swallow the Sun are good.

pate 01-22-2008 01:40 PM

ND > You

And yes, Saturnus are great, along with October Tide.

repcak 01-22-2008 01:41 PM

i have some November Doom songs, but as far as i remember i didn't like them - but this was some one year ago, maybe i should give them another try.

@Swallow the sun: you see?! i've downloaded them, but i completly forgot to unpack the rar-file :p

Dies Irae 01-22-2008 02:12 PM

I checked out Evoken. I can see why Luc likes them.

combustion07 01-22-2008 02:18 PM

My dying bride, Novembers Doom, Swallow the Sun, and Electric Wizard are great.

the2stranger 01-22-2008 02:49 PM

ND are quite nice, but they never fully clicked with me.
I miss something unique.

Saturnus are great though, I think Lee and I share a love for Saturnus.
Great band.

Another recommendation on doom/death: Mar De Grises.
Listen to it now and thank me later.:p One of the better doom/death releases of the last years if you ask me.
Looking forward to their new album, the sample I heard a while back was quite nice.

Dies Irae 01-22-2008 02:50 PM

Wow, all this doom death talk and no mention of diSEMBOWELMENT? I'm thoroughly surprised and dissapointed with you R&Mers, if you guys haven't heard them, you need to check out Transcendence Into The Peripheral NOW.

combustion07 01-22-2008 04:39 PM

Good Stuff

Dies Irae 01-22-2008 04:39 PM

sorry not everyone is into namedropping shitty music

NemesisDivina 01-22-2008 04:44 PM

I see no namedropping. I'm pretty sure most R&Mers already know of diSEMBOWELMENT, I'm just kindly reminding them.

Dies Irae 01-22-2008 04:44 PM

I used to be really big on diSEMBOWELMENT, but I haven't listened to them much at all over the last few months.

Transcendence is a sweet album though.

NemesisDivina 01-22-2008 04:49 PM

Haha, you would know diSEMBOWELMENT, you Aussie!

But yeah, I haven't listened to them in a while either. I should listen to Transcendence again soon.

publicastration 01-22-2008 04:51 PM

I like Disembowelment. There are much better bands in the genre though.
