haha true, that is a very old tama...

maniac0796 12-26-2006 01:12 PM

The use of die cast rims and the starcast system are choices of Tama. Technically, there is nothing wrong with the Rims and shells, or hardware Tama makes.

And the starcast isn't even made or designed by Tama.

And funnily enough, that looks like quite a new swingtar set to me. Atleast made after 2002

fishbulb 12-26-2006 01:13 PM

*Says that there is a lot wrong in that picture.*

Chippy569 12-26-2006 01:14 PM

wait isn't that fishbulb's pic? :D

hehey, my rep's at -177... that means i've recieved 833 pts since jim neg'd me.

Structurelly sound*... athestically/sonically, not the best way to get good tom sounds.

Who did/does then?

Though I had a friend who used some tama's on a tour, was horrible. Was constently warping tom heads. Could only attribute it to the starcast system.

maniac0796 12-26-2006 01:16 PM

Dunno, but theres a lot off things. I fergotton who it was now, but it was actually designed and licesenced to Tama from another company. On the stickers for the older starcasts, like, the older black ones, it says "under lisence from "xxxxxx""

Josiah 12-26-2006 01:19 PM

Boo

maniac0796 12-26-2006 01:35 PM

Ahhh

Phil, how the hell do you tune these sonor snare drums. Didn't they reaslise it's a bit pointless having a snarebed if you can't tune the resonant head individually!

Drum Phil 12-26-2006 01:36 PM

Just hit and miss really. I cranked mine to get a nice poppy crack.

maniac0796 12-26-2006 01:39 PM

I've cranked mine, and then fine tuned it, and it still sounds horrible. Messed around with the snares and everything.

Wait....

It's got Remo heads on it. That might explain alot...

Mines still got the UT heads after over a year.

Might be the acoustics of your room.

the_pure_drummer 12-26-2006 02:34 PM

Hey guys. Im gonna buy coated amb over clear amb tommorow at the store. What do you think?

Druumer89 12-26-2006 02:35 PM

Try out a differnt kind of heads, or put it in a differnt room, that changes alot.

fishbulb 12-26-2006 02:36 PM
