The Contortionist has some pretty sweet post-rock influences, it's like the deathcore version of Godspeed.

hismajestythepope 09-01-2010 08:57 PM

Is Godspeed the only post rock band you've heard or something?

nevertoolate 09-01-2010 08:59 PM

wow this is lolcity

Gangrene 09-01-2010 08:59 PM

oh wait! mappy left this quote of mine alone:
and has the nerve to say that I can't let something go, when he has instigated this whole argument and continues to pour fuel in the fire
because he knows he has nothing to say! Everything has been instigated by him as soon as I posted the review (which is when I started trolling him), he looks like a jackass putting in all this effort for nothing when he knows the bottom line (the above quote)

he fell for and continues to fall for the trollbait

HighandDriving 09-01-2010 09:00 PM

And The Contortionist.

@Mappy
When it breaks down into the emotive ambient melodic guitar section with a lot of layers, delay, and reverb, that builds up to the even further layered crescendo, it gets fucking amazing. (the majority of the song)
Hint, H&D.

Brent, I left the argument go, and now you're bringing this up. Kind of ironic.

You have some SICK TROLL TACTICS BRO!

Post-rock influenced deathcore.

Repeat that ten times in your head, or as many times need, till you get how silly it is.

witchxrapist 09-01-2010 09:08 PM

That parts not post rock influenced, it's post metal influenced.
totally letting it go
Yo, people are having an actual conversation now, could you please stop trolling me so hard?

witchxrapist 09-01-2010 09:10 PM

end of thread

xMalcolmXx 09-01-2010 09:14 PM

idk, its pretty good but the new vocalist is really one dimensional. i can see it growing on me a bit more, but it wont ever break a 3.5

witchxrapist 09-01-2010 09:16 PM

I love his vocals tbh. Especially the parts where he does cleans and growls overtop. Sounds great.

Definitely a 4 in my book, I've seriously listened to it 37 times the past 3 weeks. I need to buy this asap.

nevertoolate 09-01-2010 09:17 PM

still on my list to buy, havent really listened to it yet

talkin bout the new red shore, honky

witchxrapist 09-01-2010 09:25 PM

Oh word. Yeah, the new guy is mad one dimensional.

nevertoolate 09-01-2010 09:29 PM

loljake. I like a bit of vocal range tbh but if the music is good enough vocals arent that critical

witchxrapist 09-01-2010 09:30 PM

His lows are good, but like. Come on, work on your vocals if you're gonna be a vocalist.

He has made ZERO progress since he's started doing vocals.

nevertoolate 09-01-2010 09:31 PM

that is annoying

Endangered Oddity 09-01-2010 09:37 PM

I can't stand one dimensional vocalists.Unless what they're doing is really original

witchxrapist 09-01-2010 09:42 PM

IDK, I think it's dependent on the style of music and even the person's voice in general.

Like, I love way too much oldschool dm with monotone vocals, you know?

Nervous Sad Poor 09-01-2010 09:43 PM

fuck yeah

witchxrapist 09-01-2010 09:45 PM

Really good monotone vocals = Envy and Depravity.

Well if the music is really good I can overlook it, but most of the time it becomes too much of an annoyance.

witchxrapist 09-02-2010 12:19 AM

Eh, new Acacia Strain isn't exactly mindblowingly good, but Vince is mad monotone.

nevertoolate 09-02-2010 12:34 AM

hell yeah good example. yeah it wasn't as good as the early reviews said it was. love the finishing track just gets slower and slower and slower

Endangered Oddity 09-02-2010 12:36 AM

That album was pretty disappointing IMO

witchxrapist 09-02-2010 12:38 AM

I love the new Acacia Strain, but fanboys overrated it hard.

nevertoolate 09-02-2010 12:46 AM

continent II tbh

Endangered Oddity 09-02-2010 01:09 AM

Did I ever tell you guys that when I put the demos of Terminated and The Hills Have Eyes on Youtube I got a letter from their manager ordering me to take them down and to go buy the new DVD.

witchxrapist 09-02-2010 01:13 AM

witchxrapist 09-02-2010 02:54 AM

This past week has made me realize how much 2010 has been a great year for deathcore. Seriously, with bands like ABACABB and Carnifex cropping up, I thought that deathcore was surely dying, but then ABACABB breaks up, and Carnifex comes out with a good album, and I'm like holy shit!

And then I payed more attention, and the 16 year old inside me smiles really big.

HighandDriving 09-02-2010 08:12 AM

Carnifex comes out with a good album:smash:

Emim 09-02-2010 09:41 AM

Forgive me for asking, but what exactly is djent?

DBlitz 09-02-2010 09:57 AM

the way the guitar sounds in meshuggah and meshuggah-clones i think

witchxrapist 09-02-2010 12:11 PM
Carnifex comes out with a good album:smash:
Oh man, some more quality posting from HighandDriving! :thumb:

Please explain the horrible flaws of Hell Chose Me, and why it's so wrong for me to think it's heavy and mosh worthy.

HighandDriving 09-02-2010 12:18 PM

I cant explain you too dumb.
