To tell you the truth, I don't know that many Bassissts.
good bassists IMO: steve harris (obviously), cliff burton, jason newsteds, robert trujillo, geezer butler, john myung

Thunder Fingers 05-03-2005 12:18 PM

^^ GEDDY LEE!!!!

but serriously, there gonna be alot of Death Metal Fanboys that gonna vote for that guy Sean Maloe or what ever, i have found nothing Impressive bassing in that type of music(nor in jazz, its just "play FAAAAAST! and many notes!"

To tell you the truth, I don't think Cliff Burton is that good. I was playing that Bass solo song like 3 weeks after I got my Bass, the bends did sound a little off though.

I've only just started to get Steves Gallop rhythm mastered. :D

Iceman-rocker 05-03-2005 12:30 PM

Slash!!!!!!!!!

Iceman-rocker 05-03-2005 12:35 PM

Now, I'm not an angry person, but...

THIS IS THE FREAKING IRON MAIDEN THREAD...

Harris probably knows more then him...

Thunder Fingers 05-03-2005 01:06 PM

i believe that harris have said that he dont know much theory, burton went to school, and there is nothing impressive with ANYTHING in For whom the bell tolls...

GurS 05-03-2005 01:07 PM

MAthiAS 05-03-2005 02:20 PM

IMO Burton's just as overrated as the rest of Metallica, but since he's dead no one says it.

ashman 05-03-2005 02:29 PM

I'd take this to the 'Tallica thread, but I'd get banned.

FWTBT is not a difficult song on bass...AT ALL!

Josh 05-03-2005 03:36 PM

heh, i started off a cliff burton flaming session  well, just for the hell of it i went on taborama and got keyboard tablature for the intro to Blood Brothers, Hallowed be thy name and 2 minutes to midnight, so learning them could be quite fun...they were all simplified except 2 minutes to midnight, lol

Stew_Blink 05-03-2005 06:05 PM

So like last night, I was bored so I picked up my NOTB album and looked at the cover for a while, then go to sleep. I had this weird and kinda scary dream..The sun is setting in a early 1800's village. There is a group of people out in a feild working and in the distance they see 4 figures on horses. From the other direction they see one cloaked figure walking towards them. When the horsemen get close enough the people notice they are War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death, of course the four horsemen of the apocalypse. When the hooded figure arrive's it takes down it's black hood..and it's the beast (looks like eddie lol). Anyways the 4 horsemen and the beast burn everyone in the village/feild place and then I started seeing other places with buildings on fire and people screaming, and these 5 figures standing in front of it all, laughing an evil laugh. Some of these place's we're London, Paris and Rome.

It sounds like I'm a lunatic :p but I'm not I swear..

Lord Abortion 05-04-2005 06:09 AM

I know, but bar tailgunner and the assassin it's very average...
I just don't like it much,
shows how good maiden are that that is one of their poorest efforts IMO

Thunder Fingers 05-04-2005 06:13 AM

^i dont remember anyone of them say that "NPFTD" is their poorest effort.... i like the tail gunner, one of my favorite songs on that album, you should also learn that there isnt something thats called "Bad Music"

Lord Abortion 05-04-2005 06:17 AM

i didn't say it was bad...
just not as good as alot of other maiden stuff

I don't know if I agree about bad music though

does rap count as music?

Thunder Fingers 05-04-2005 06:27 AM

i just wrote much stuff that got deleted....

Rap is good music for thoose who listen to it, so yeah, it count as music, though its often the same.... but 100000000000000000000000 personalitys that are exactly the same often express them self the same way..:p

Deth 05-04-2005 07:37 AM
