Not with that idiot threadstarter posting in it, man, he would've ruined it. Alright? It's not so much against the shred thing, but it was a brooding ground for senseless arguments. There's no healthy discussion when it's everyone against the threadstarter.

Lunch 09-18-2005 06:20 PM
If all of his threads are plagiarised, I'm taking them out of the rules thread. This is ridiculous.
The first two are plagerised, and the latest two are plagerised. I don't know about 3 and 4 though.

Personally, I feel that he should be banned for this, mainly because he said that "I wrote this...". If he had just posted an article lifted directly from a website, it would be annoying/wrong/cheap, but maybe not ban-able (obviously it would still be plagerism and still be illegal). But as soon as you take credit for it yourself with no reference to the original source, I think it should be ban-able offense. Just my thoughts.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-18-2005 06:25 PM

The third was also plagarized.

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9229815#post9229815

There's the only one he did write, and you can really tell that he actually wrote it. :-|

superpeer 09-18-2005 06:38 PM

I took them out of the rules thread. Should I close them as well?

Lunch: Perhaps I should. Thoughts? Anyone?

Chu 09-18-2005 06:43 PM

Umm, very weird.. My post in the Metallica thread was deleted, I believe? I can't see it in my history either :/

It's not very important, just weirding me out.

Edit: I don't think you should close the threads, what's been done has been done, at most edit his post/s and remove the copied works, but keep the threads open for dicussion?

He does deserve some sort of punishment for this, otherwise he might think he can just get away with it always 'Imagines him handing in a plagerised essay' :o
It'd be for his own good!

Lunch 09-18-2005 06:45 PM
I took them out of the rules thread. Should I close them as well?

Lunch: Perhaps I should. Thoughts? Anyone?
Haha, you're the mod :p

I think you should close them, but you already know how I feel about the whole situation. I hate plagerism.

superpeer 09-18-2005 06:49 PM

I'm trying to bring in a bit of democracy. :p

I mean, sure it's illegal, but so was the YSI thread.

Jom 09-18-2005 06:51 PM

Send him an e-mail and warn him that if it happens again, you'll ban him.

In the meantime, close the threads.

$.02

Lunch 09-18-2005 06:51 PM

Yea, but no one's orgininal work was in question with the YSI threads. It wasn't like I would upload a Hendrix track and claim it as my own (clearly this would be harder to get away with than plagerising internet biographies, but you get the point).

superpeer 09-18-2005 06:59 PM

I'll close the threads, and give him a few days. Everyone happy.

Drunken Viking 09-18-2005 07:20 PM

Well his rep is pretty much tarnished, just do a permanent ban.

(Yes, I have been here before and read the rules)

I think they decided to take FTR's center stage out because some of them were plagerised.

superpeer 09-19-2005 08:08 AM

All done.

Stoic: Thanks for alerting me, sorry for missing them. I took FTR's thread out, look earlier in this thread for info.

This may or may not be a problem thread, even though he's trashing modern music.

He's also on my shit list for plaguing the Metal Competition thread with this post:
Wow. Yet another competition for music no other has said to be CRAP. Play one chord through the whole song and get drums smashing, yell your voice off like fire and theres your death metal song. -_-
Yes, opinions are opinions. Fine. But we don't need ignorance in that thread, heh.

Anyways, your call on the thread. I just wanted to bring it to your attention for judgment.

Seeing that this has become the (un)official System of a Down thread can you possibly change the name to 'The System of a Down thread'. Thanks in advance.

the2stranger 09-19-2005 03:55 PM

wow, this plagiarism stuff is weird, and I''m a bit pissed at FTR for doing this.

I see no point in doing this unless you like to increase your e-pen0r.
I've lost my respect for FTR, I thought he was a good user
I really donnt have anything else to say, but I just wanted to say what I said.

Storm In A Teacup 09-19-2005 04:22 PM

Over in sputnik I turned in a reveiw of Slipknot Sub. Verses in which my weighted ranking went from .56 to .97 and it has been over 24 hours and I'm still ranked at 152 :upset: what's the deal?

the2stranger 09-19-2005 04:29 PM

huh?
you're ranking went up, so what 's the problem?

I thhink there already was a review on it,, but I don't really get your porblem, you might be better of asking this in de Sputnik forum, in the sitepart

Drunken Viking 09-19-2005 04:53 PM

I was thinking, inlight of the FTR plagiarism thing, there sould be a rule that if you plagerise in a writeup, then you will get a ban. Just so people stop doing it.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-19-2005 05:20 PM

This could be an odd coincidence, but uh, I'm going to venture to guess that The Liberty Bell is FTR. I mean, TLB joined yesterday, and started posted right after FTR got busted for plagarizing. TLB's AIM is Jew with a Crew, FTR was Jewish.

I sense something suspicious here.

EDIT: Also, they're both into the same bands- Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom...I don't know, I could be looking into this a little too far, but eh, just trying to point out something here.

I think it's just a little coincidental, so IP scan anyone? I know it'll bog down the site for a little while, but Med did it for CG, and this is a similair situation.

Dammit, he says he uses a proxy, never mind.

Drunken Viking 09-19-2005 05:22 PM

I am not FTR, me and him are friends, but I am not him. We go to the same Synagogue and that's how we met, but we are not the same person.

EDIT: To your edit, we also trade CD's, but we are not the same person.

superpeer 09-19-2005 05:52 PM

And you just happen to have the same IP, right?

EDIT: Jake, so what if it's him, he's not a criminal (well, maybe technically). He was a decent user aside from the plagiarism. He should just wait until his ban expires and try to regain respect.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-19-2005 06:14 PM

So wait, he did end up having the same IP?
just trying to point out something here.
That's all. I was bored and in need of some E-drama.

superpeer 09-19-2005 06:21 PM

Yeah, same IP. I don't know why he's pretending. If he wanted to keep a low profile and start over it wasn't very smart to come preach about plagiarism in here.

blockheads dead 09-19-2005 06:21 PM

Could we have the Maiden thread changed to "Hallowed Be Thy Thread" please?

superpeer 09-19-2005 06:22 PM

Sure thing.

blockheads dead 09-19-2005 06:24 PM

Threadstarter is notorious for making really bad threads (only two, but still... they were horrible) and all seven posts have been in poor taste, mindlessly attacking all genres except stuff found in the '80s.

Please close this thread, and consider a talking-to or ban to the threadstarter.
