I just talked to my guitarist, and he said it's not his drum kit yet, he just borrowed it from a guy he has formerly worked with (he's going to ask him until next week). So what do you think how much I should spend on those cymbals?
I was thinking about 200 Euros (296US$) for the Zildjian and Paiste ride maximum. I'm not quite sure what limit to set for the hi-hats, since they have that chunk missing and on the other hand I'll offer him my 302 crash and ride (which are worth nothing anymore, I know). Probably I'd give him 100 Euros for the hats.

Or should I stack my limit up? I know these cymbals are great, but I don't want to be ripped off.

oliv_da_skinmasher 02-22-2008 08:16 AM

Well if they have a chunk missing i'd say 100 is fine for the hats.

But if you can maybe go to 250 for ride. You will not be disapointed I swear. And if you are i'll take it off your hands lol

You bastard. I'd have loved either that or a HH Rock ride ages ago.

Tim 02-24-2008 03:47 PM

ill put up pics soon as i get home. im out of town right now accessing this site from my phone so my options are limited haha. i picked up a pearl icon too dude. =D

bobby__johnny 02-24-2008 03:52 PM

Drum Phil 02-24-2008 05:07 PM

Old news. I gots me an icon years ago :D

ant_182 02-25-2008 03:53 PM

Aiming to get a new crash or too. Becuase my K Dark cracked and I sold it I'm going to get rid of the other k (possibly) and either get 18" A Custom crash or 19" K Hybrid. I'm just unsure of what to get!! Opinions/reasons on what people think!

I loved the A Custom when I tried it and I loved the K Hybrid at a gig the other night! SOOOOOO Stuck!

Drum Phil 02-25-2008 03:55 PM

I assume you want to stay in zildjian?

List your ideal qualities and how you use it (gig, recording etc)

Sabian4015 03-02-2008 09:23 PM

Ok so I'm thinking about getting a 21" Sweet Ride as a crash/ride. I played at GC and really liked it. Any thoughts or can anybody suggest other crash/rides?

I play rock

Aaron 03-02-2008 09:27 PM

20" K Crash-Ride is good, bit darker sounding.

crazyguy832 03-02-2008 09:27 PM

If you like it, nothing wrong with the cymbal.

Verdas 03-02-2008 10:34 PM

Any good suggestions on a dark thin ride that can be crashed, I want stick definition, minimal wash and it has to go well with my Sabian Hand Hammered Hats. I am thinking a K Ride will sound a bit like that. But any other suggestions from first hand experience will be really appreciated.

crazyguy832 03-02-2008 10:36 PM

Dark, thin ride that can be crashed... that would a K Dark or K Thin (is there one? o_O I think there is) ride or, really, virtually any of the K rides. They're all dark, thin, and crash well.

I played a straight-up K ride the other damn... damn good cymbal, not the best crash ever... but a K Light (I think this is what I meant before by thing XD) would crash very well.

Tim 03-03-2008 01:16 AM

look no farther than K dark medium ride 22inch or K custom special dry ride 21

bobby__johnny 03-03-2008 01:25 AM

dry rides arent all that crashable imo.

HHX Studio, Evolution, or Manhattan jazz ride would be my thought.

Tim 03-03-2008 10:40 PM

studio definatly.

Verdas 03-03-2008 10:49 PM

wow, thanks for the ideas, I wrote them down and tried them out at the local Long&McQuade, I have to say I have some tough decisions. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Manhattan Jazz Ride and the 22" K is a very close second. Such a tough choice, but I know when I buy it I will be on the ride alot more in my playing, which is good IMO. Thanks guys

LoneStarDrummer 03-03-2008 11:46 PM

that hhx manhattan is an awesome ride. i can't wait till i get some duckets so i can buy one.

crazyguy832 03-03-2008 11:49 PM

I'm actually a big fan of the HHX Evolution ride (actually, the whole series). Damn good cymbals.

bobby__johnny 03-04-2008 01:15 AM

i dont think i've heard an HHX that i didnt like. granted. there are some i wouldnt use myself, but still, the sound was amazing.

Verdas 03-04-2008 01:17 AM

I think my best cymbal is an HHX evolution 16", those must be the best cymbals out there. I mean others are eccentric (K's, Hand Hammered) but does it actually get any better than an HHX, atleast for the crash, and possibly the rides, I haven't tried many others tbh

bobby__johnny 03-04-2008 01:19 AM

i've heard ym share of Hand Hammered's and HHX's...i'd still take a hand hammered ride over an HHX myself. the complexity of the sound in a Hand Hammered ride is unmatched imo. even with my high regard for the entire HHX line.

my $0.02

Tim 03-04-2008 01:53 AM

i love my HHX crash. I love my HH ride. i wouldnt be able to choose between the two. mix matched cymbals from both lines would be what id go for =]

bobby__johnny 03-04-2008 11:10 AM

i mix all 4 of Sabians top lines :thumb:

crazyguy832 03-04-2008 12:15 PM

They have 7.

:smash:

AA, AAX, HH, HHX, APX, Vault, Signature.

bobby__johnny 03-04-2008 01:10 PM

well in that case 5, i forgot about Vault :P and APX hasnt been released yet right?
