He remains my favourite member of DT and my second favourite vocalist, behind Bruce Dickinson.
I agree. Anyone who doesn't like James should go to hell.

ATC 02-16-2006 10:25 PM

I'm unimpressed by Rudess and Petrucci but LaBrie's actually quite good.

IbanezSamurai 02-16-2006 10:31 PM

I think without James, DT would'nt be what they are today.
I think without James, DT would'nt be what they are today.
Maybe, but I think they would have been a much better band with KM and a singer in, JR and JL out. I'd like to hear DT with a voice that doesn't belong in power metal.

Jev 02-17-2006 08:36 AM

I finally got round to ordering Live at the Budokan. woop.

Cd or DVD? Either way its a great purchase.

Jev 02-17-2006 01:56 PM

DVD, I hope it comes tomorrow seeing as I didn't order it from America this time.

What did those lazy Americans screw up this time?

Jev 02-17-2006 02:04 PM

Nothing :p
It's just when I ordered my Cacophony Cds from America they took 3 weeks to get here.

Thats because it has to travel across the pond. That takes some time.

Yep, they would be nowhere near as Godly.

What can I say, I don't like to wait.

How can you not be impressed by Petrucci? Some of his riffs and solos are amazing. I wish I could write stuff like that. And his lyrics are brilliant too.

True, But it doesn't really matter who does the lyrics on DT songs, really, they work well anyway.

I really like JLB's lyrics on Vacant...it's a song that does basically the same thing as Wait for sleep.

Alex 02-18-2006 11:58 AM

i just got tix for ****en 6th row at DT concert in toronto, anyone know what the setlists are for the 20th ann. tour?

I've really been impressed by his vocals on Awake, the parts where he sings high. Like Innocence Faded.

The 20th ann. Tour set list usually has a song from each album played, including one of the Majesty demo.

Lord Abortion 02-18-2006 12:05 PM

Yeah, same with caught in a web.

NP-Take away my pain(live)

I like the caught in a new millennium medley from LSFNY

classicrockman 02-18-2006 12:06 PM

Hopefully something like this:

WD&DU: Ytse Jam
I&W: Pull Me Under, Take The Time, Under A Glass Moon
AWAKE: Erotomania, Lie
ACOS: A Change Of Seasons, Perfect Strangers
FII: Hollow Years
SFAM: Beyond This Life, The Dance Of Eternity
SDOIT: The Glass Prison
TOT: As I Am, Endless Sacrifice
8VM: Sacrificed Sons, Octavarium

(that would be my dream setlist at least.)
how can you not like rudess or petrucci
I usually enjoy Rudess' playing, but from time to time its way to wanky and formless. Some of his solos are ace. Petrucci I almost always like, except on a few overlay wankish Train of Thought song. He's still one of my favorite guitar players, though.

I agree whole heartedly. ToT goes horrible in wankiness and The Dance Of Eternity is probably my least favourite DT song.

Lord Abortion 02-18-2006 12:15 PM

We do this every so often, but...

The answer lies within
Surrounded
A fortune in lies
Metropolis
Hollow years
Take away my pain
Goodnight kiss
solitary shell
Misunderstood
This Dying soul
These walls
Space Dye Vest
Voices/The silent man
Beyond this life
The spirit carries on
Pull me under
..........................
In the name of God
Learning to Live
A change of seasons

Jev 02-18-2006 12:16 PM

I only just noticed how the last 4 albums join together
:retarded:

How do you mean?

Jev 02-18-2006 12:21 PM

The scratching record at the end of SFAM is the intro to The Glass Prison and the intro to As I Am is the last chord of 6DOIT(or so I'm told, haven't listened to it for ages) and the last piano note in In The Name of God is the opening Piano note in The Root of All Evil.

Lord Abortion 02-18-2006 12:27 PM

Ah, I see

Wow...it's true too!

Actually kind of like the wanky solos on Dance of Eternity to tell you the truth.

nowitzki 02-18-2006 01:24 PM

I got one of Jordan's solo albums, Feeding the Wheel. Its really awesome stuff well worth getting, especially if you like the LTE albums.

Lord Abortion 02-18-2006 01:26 PM

Anyone got James' solo album, elements of persuasion?

nowitzki 02-18-2006 01:32 PM

Yeah, thats also really good. A lot heavier than I thought it would be. He's got some awesome musicians playing with him, there's some great guitar solos.
