It's growing on me now though. I'm at the "hey, this isn't so bad" stage at the moment.

Don't get me wrong, I love Demon with all my heart, but the epicness of April Ethereal and When just blow me away every time. It's a shame that it goes downhill slightly with Madrigal and The Amen Corner.

18+ shows are stupid. All they're doing is limiting their ticket sales. I don't see what the advantage is of keeping out people under 18, unless they freely pass out pornography or something.

Its never happening in my area unless I take a 4 hour drive every 4 years when Opeth might come to Sydeny. 18+ are very stupid. Why don't they just take the time and lience it for all ages. Shadows Fall was 18+ in my town and had to cancel because not enough people wanted to go. Why, because you can't in this town make 18+ gig. If they had got it all ages then TONS of people woul dhave gone but yeah thats the story.

See its odd Demon of the Fall is one of my all time favorite Opeth songs. Why, well I just loved it sheer evil sounding riffs and pure agression. It not there most beautiful song or most techniqual, but I love just the powerful death metal in it which is a different sort death metal to other DM bands. Because as we all know Opeth can always do something differently.

(yes yes I know its Shadows Fall but that growled vocals etc. You know what I mean) This town is very sucky for gigs. And the probelm is, they willl never come again :(

Oh man, I'm sorry. I live in a small, worthless town, and Shadows Fall was cool enough to come here twice for me to see them. It was amazing.

I'm suprised. I find Shadows Fall to be a pretty generic band most of the time. I used to be in love with them, but once I heard all the other bands who sounds similar to SF, I sort of grew bored (not to sound stuck up :p) with the whole scene. I just don't get what really sticks out about them.

It might be they made it 18+ since Mikael gets the crowd to say 'Satan' a few times before playing the Grand Conjuration. Apparently, the sound engineer was 'slightly religious' and edited it out of the original version. Eh, I don't know.

They were great live yesterday. I'm disappointed they didn't play The Drapery falls or In the mist she was standing but it was still a great show. Mikael did a bunch of 'experiments' like teaching people to headbang in 4/4 which was hilarious. I got my Nevermore Tshirt and BWP CD signed by the band. Mikael also changed his name to Steve Gutenberg and I have spent all day trying to teach myself Martin's bass. Oh, and Fireball Ministry were decent and I quite liked them though I pretty much hated the S.T.R.E.E.T.S.

I have got to agree with this. They are a pretty good band from what I have heard but I would never listen to them regularly because they just sound like a lot of other bands and don't seem to have anything special about them.

Yeah, it seems Opeth's achilles heel is songs that appear in the middle of the respective albums...

The Amen Corner from MAYH (still a magnificent song)
Dirge for november from BWP
Harlequin Forest from GR (I maintain this is one of Opeth's weakest songs)

On another note, with Per Wiberg now in the band, would Opeth play the piano segment of The Leper Affinity live? Who's seen them play that song live?
