tim_commerfordism 04-02-2005 04:05 PM

The Pope Is Dead

neal_672 04-02-2005 04:07 PM

Yeah i know, saw it on BBC website about 20 minutes ago. Poor guy...

ChimPz 04-02-2005 04:07 PM

Yes, i know.

It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Being an atheist i was never a big fan of him, but he was an advocate of peace, so ... respect

neal_672 04-02-2005 04:09 PM

Yeah i'm atheist too, but he was a good guy and as you said he was peaceful so it's a shame...

Digital Man 04-02-2005 04:10 PM

Straight down to the Hot and Fiery for him.

tim_commerfordism 04-02-2005 04:11 PM

yeah it was gonna happen sooner or later

neal_672 04-02-2005 04:12 PM

Yeah he was pretty old and fragile so it was inevitable really...

tim_commerfordism 04-02-2005 04:19 PM

wikipedia still thinks he's the reigning pope.

LOL

Left Shoe 04-02-2005 04:20 PM

yeah most definitley R.I.P. the pope, considering he was the best pope weve had in a very long **** time.

ScorpSath 04-02-2005 04:23 PM

Poor pope, didn't Nastradomus (sp?) predict that the pope who reigns after this one will be the last pope. The World ending or something of the sort?

Digital Man 04-02-2005 04:24 PM

I don't care much for religion of any sort. The world would be a better place without. Unless we're all the same religion. But then again, that's what people are fighting over.

tim_commerfordism 04-02-2005 04:24 PM

well goths thought that the world would end March 17th

Fernandes Power 04-02-2005 04:25 PM
Poor pope, didn't Nastradomus (sp?) predict that the pope who reigns after this one will be the last pope. The World ending or something of the sort?
Nostrodamus predicted the end of the world numerous times... most of them already having happened.

Left Shoe 04-02-2005 04:26 PM

no idea not a fan of the nostradamus guy

tim_commerfordism 04-02-2005 04:28 PM

not really. Marx called religion the opiate of the masses, a way people to justify the **** hole they are in. Without religion there would be more fighitng.

Nostradamus predicted so many things that haven't happened it's not even funny

ChimPz 04-02-2005 04:29 PM
yeah most definitley R.I.P. the pope, considering he was the best pope weve had in a very long **** time.
There was pope Leo XIII and his Rerum Novarum. That's 114 years ago... a long time indeed

neal_672 04-02-2005 04:31 PM

I'd disagree, certainly from ym perspective. In ym experience most of the religious people i know are a lot more confrontational than the non-religious purely through trying to justify their religion. And it has caused many a-war it has to be said. But it's all "ifs" and "buts" nobody can say what would happen if there were no religions in the world

neal_672 04-02-2005 04:32 PM

I also seem incapable of spelling "my" today...

you know, as the casual is the biggest thread on MX, it is inevitable that they will keep it up much longer. i can see it being closed soon.

which means alot of people's post counts' are going to shrink.

70% of my posts are in here.
If they closed it they know we would make another and they would have to deal with it again.
