I just need email addresses if I don't already have them.

Shattered_Future 01-12-2006 06:30 PM

You should have mine...if not, anemiate@yahoo.com

jpj 01-12-2006 06:31 PM

Mine is wartsandall@gmail.com

GenuineImitation 01-12-2006 06:49 PM

I'll read it.

rock15guitarist@aol.com

Tyler 01-12-2006 06:51 PM

Got it.

Jom 01-12-2006 07:11 PM

I have a request of anyone that has the capabilities of doing this:

Are any of you able to record a song playing on a mySpace site? Reason why I ask is that the songs are only going to be up temporarily, and I'm afraid they'll get pulled off the mySpace site before I can get them onto my computer (the artists in question both have the download switch turned "off," by the way).

So, if anyone can do this, I'll give you the sites and I'll be stoked for life. The quality doesn't have to be CD quality or anything, so long as it's reasonably clear.

Anyone who can do this will absolutely rule.

lightningmetal666 01-12-2006 07:12 PM

I'll check it out as well

lightningmetal666@yahoo.com

I have a great feeling about this semester. I've got this awesome class called Writing Music for Songs. Man, is my teacher open about music. I played Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen by Dimmu Borgir, and she absolutely loved it even though she doesn't really like metal.
\m/\m/

Jom 01-12-2006 07:16 PM

The reason why I ask is because there's a new song that's even more vital than the other ones I told you about on MSN

Besides, you can't fool me with your invisible mode.

PS: thank you :-D

i am the robots 01-12-2006 07:21 PM

Jom: I asked this in the ask questions/report problems thread, and nobody responded: is it allowed to upload a 2 minute clip of a 7 minute song?

Only if you do a write-up or something. Why would you want to anyway? The R&M was turning into as good as a file-sharing program, I see no need to have any uploads. If people want to hear a band they can make the effort and find a place to hear them/download something from a p2p program.

MBS 01-12-2006 07:27 PM
/favor
Are their songs in mono or stereo? If they're in mono, I can just record them with my microphone with Audacity and convert them into mp3. The quality might be bad though.
If people want to hear a band they can make the effort and find a place to hear them/download something from a p2p program.
Well, there's also the people who don't use p2p programs (like me) who recieve a lot of music from MX. I know that MX is much more safe of a source than say KaZaA or Limewire.

i am the robots 01-12-2006 07:30 PM

OK cool, I already finished the write-up... now for the samples.

I'm going to have to just go on about something completely unrelated to what everyone is talking about:

This kid robbed this local gas station 4 times in the past month (with a knife), and he tried to again last night, and when he told the guy working the register to give him the money in the drawer, the dude made fun of him until the kid moved to attack him, and then hit him in the head with a bat.

All I have to say is OWNED.

I have to agree. It's really annoying that these people com in, making all sorts of dumbass comments, then get incredibly defensive at the first sign of disagreement. Naturally, they can't argue to save their lives, so they use the word "opinion" to try and stonewall everybody.

Haha, this is so true, I've been faced with this increasingly.

I'll use the good ol' opinion arguement if somebody tells me something I like sucks and doesn't back it.

oh, and must whore:

I started reading it, but then realized I have to finish my story. It seemed good up to where I read though.

I have trouble typing scientific texts in english but most importantly your questions dont prove God's existence. In other words, it's not logically correct to attribute phenomena you cant fully explain to some mysterious existence.

Hey Everyone. What's up?

kurrpt 01-13-2006 07:44 AM

jammed at a friends last night. Hes a punk-style drummer. Another MXer drove an hour and 20 to hang out, jam, and get a lesson of sorts.

I must have given him about 80 bucks on reference material and some technique pointers to boot. He seemed excited.

I finally got to CRANK the new triple rectifier. Surprisingly my ears only rang for about 2 hours afterward

haha, yea punk is definitely not my bag baby...

but at first, i was kinda just showing the kid some stuff. After he took over the PRS for a bit, he just played some sh!t out of time that he didnt attempt to fit with the beat.

i explained to him how important it was to FEEL the groove, so to speak, and came up with a jam that i KNEW Cody (drummer) would be into. It was a little punk style beat. Cody was actually keeping time and had some nice changes.

Apparently Kevin (other guitarist) thought it was really good, and so did Cody. I explained to them that if I can do it/play it, it sucks

Hah yeah, me and a guitarist friend of mine who I thought was solely into punk music jammed a bit last night, and came up with a few cool riffs. I guess it's the first step towards starting a much-needed American Melodic Folk Metal band. We desperately need a drummer, though - percussion makes the music.

Currently we have myself on bass, a lead guitarist and a rhythm guitarist who could also do keyboards because he's had a lot of experience on the piano. Our ultimate goal is to become a folk metal band based around Greek myth. I think Jay (King Of Terrors) has the same idea for his fledgeling group as well.

yea, i kind of game up on the BAND idea for a while. I just got sick of arseholes yelling, like they think their my fukking dad, or people that refuse to practice outside of jam sessions.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I just try and find skilled musicians who are able to step outside their comfort zone in terms of their musical tastes. That's all I can ask for.

yea definitely man definitely.

When i was LOOKING for a band, i would habitually step outside of my genre-comfort zone. I just wanted to play. After putting up with low caliber individuals, and 45 year olds that act like they are 12, I kind of adopted the habbit of looking for chill dudes first, and musicians second

That's what I do as well, man. The guys have to be able to play, but I'd rather have a sucky vocalist who can learn to sing rather than have a good vocalist who can't learn to have respect.

people in general made me re-think of my game plan. Now i wanna be one of those dudes that shows up to an audion, and people's jaw drops. Obviously this will take time, but i work at it with a passion.
