I downloaded some songs by them off Reiner when I was just getting into hardcore. I got into hardcore from Reiner's mp3 collection.
 me too! him and Jon.

I have a crapload of hardcore music now, thanks to those two cool kids.

Let's Chop Cats! 03-02-2005 08:58 PM

Get soulseek, it'll make it so much easier. Tell your parents it's a chat program not downloading.

CONNER_NWHC 03-02-2005 09:05 PM

Who wants to tell their parents there chatting online with random people?

Let's Chop Cats! 03-02-2005 09:06 PM

Better than saying I'm breaking the law by stealing.
Who wants to tell their parents there chatting online with random people?
My dad visits a couple forums, he doesn't care.

And I don't think my mom comprehends the Internet enough to know what the hell is going on.

"It's called punk, mom"

Let's Chop Cats! 03-02-2005 09:10 PM

I just tell my mom I'm smarter than the people suing people. Which is more or less true considering I haven't been sued yet.

I see a bunch of ROM sites that have a message like this in their opening page.

"For controversial reasons, if you are affiliated with any government, ANTI-Piracy group or any other related group, or were formally a worker of one you CANNOT enter this web site, cannot access any of its files and you cannot view any of the HTML files. If you enter this site you are not agreeing to these terms and you are violating code 431.322.12 of the Internet Privacy Act signed by Bill Clinton in 1995 and that means that you CANNOT threaten our ISP(s) or any person(s) or company storing these files, and cannot prosecute any person(s) affiliated with this page which includes family, friends or individuals who run or enter this web site."

I haven't seen any ROM sites with this message that have been closed down, so I guess it must have SOME form of merit.

I just modified it, like "You may not browse my files any further", etc.

Probably doesn't mean anything, but I haven't been sued yet either. And that's after 6400 songs.

But are they 6400 songs that are RIAA protected?

Anywho I don't have to worry about any of this becuase I live in Canada.

Let's Chop Cats! 03-02-2005 09:17 PM

Yeah, I only share to people on my list on soulseek. But I used to share freely on Kazaa. Also I've probably had about 150 movies on my PC throughout it's life span.

Besides 99% of my music doesn't support the RIAA, so they can suck on my nuts.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 03-02-2005 09:18 PM

I wonder if Victory records is part of the RIAA....

Let's Chop Cats! 03-02-2005 09:20 PM

Probably. I know Fat Wreck is, I bet Epitaph is aswell. I had the list of labels, but I never saved the url.

OI! to the World! 03-02-2005 09:25 PM

If average posts per day were the same as average jerkings per day...well I'd be jacking off a bit more than normal then wouldn't I.

Let's Chop Cats! 03-02-2005 09:37 PM

I'd have rugburn.

OI! to the World! 03-02-2005 09:38 PM

I could do it.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 03-02-2005 09:38 PM

Reiner, you probably wouldn't have a penis.

OI! to the World! 03-02-2005 09:40 PM

But it raises the question. How do you masturbate .53?

Just start and go "Eh, nevermind" and give up?

Let's Chop Cats! 03-02-2005 09:40 PM

I might do it later tonight depending on how tired I am.

OI! to the World! 03-02-2005 09:41 PM

I NEVER do that I always finish.

Sounds about right.

I still couldn't do it 11 times in a day though.

OI! to the World! 03-02-2005 09:52 PM

If I woke up early i could

A-Life-Less-Plagued 03-02-2005 10:01 PM

I'm listening to Bridge To Solace because of BleedthesKY's link in the forced listening thread, and I'm impressed.

EDIT: REALLY impressed.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 03-02-2005 10:09 PM

Added. I really dig Underminded also, they've got sort of a similar sound. I know you like them. Know any other similar stuff?

TheNowhereman42 03-02-2005 11:03 PM

Could anyone reccomend me a few "gateway" hardcore bands to get me into the genre? I really like Strung Out and Strike Anywhere, but thats all i've really heard beyond 80's punk/hardcore stuff like Bad Brains and the like.

victimofreality 03-02-2005 11:09 PM

If you like the older hardcore kind of stuff, listen to Bane and Comeback Kid.

Ummm, the band that really got me to check out others would be The Bars. They were described as reminiscent of Black Flag, so I tried them out. While I see only a little Black Flag in them, I still think they are fecking amazing. After that, I checked out Comeback Kid which was also good, and then Give Up The Ghost and so on.

So like victimofreality said, try Bane and Comeback Kid. And The Bars. All great bands. And With Honor too, if you like the fast stuff. Their drums are amazing.
