How do the lyrics make the vocals better?
Reading them takes your attention off the vocals.
Because lyrically the band is incredibly sound. I'm not saying the lyrics have a substantial weight for everyone, but for me when I figure how dormant and desperate the vocals are I couldn't imagine enjoying them if the lyrics were arranged any different.
And yeah, that too. I can focus properly on the supposed message of the music and have a stronger emotional impact when the vocals and lyrics go hand in hand. |
That kind of sounded like a BRA post, but aight.
Yeah you're right, actually. I dunno, Warning is one of the few bands whose lyrics I actually really enjoy.
That did reek of BRA, but still it's the truth. |

Heard of but not heard.
new name to me.
listen to electric magma. its crunchy |
I've just really got into Ahab. This is so amazing.
I didn't like Ahab when i first heard them but I"m ready to hear them again, i have a feeling i'm going to like them this time.
They're ok. Extremely boring after Below the Sun.
The theme is what really makes me like them I guess.
Yeah their lyrics are pretty ace.
I love Ahab so much.
Ahab are excellent.
Though lately Panthiest and the usual amounts of MC have been fulfilling my Funeral needs. |
Ahab is one of the only FD bands I sort of like.
Ahab are great but very tiring to listen to from start to finish unless you have the lyrics in front of you, then its pretty cool to read along
Holy **** the new Earth is great.
It seems to expand on the themes of Hex without sounding like a ripoff. |
I'm looking forward to listening to the new EARTH.
Right now I'm listening to Nadja, as usual. But I have some good news for Nadja fans:
Hello all, Nadja's latest album, Bliss Torn From Emptiness, a re-worked/- recorded/-issue of a limited edition, out-of-print cdr release from 2005, lovingly (re-)mastered by James Plotkin, is now available (although not officially until Jan 29) from Profound Lore Records: http://www.profoundlorerecords.com We will be having a free launch party for the release at 6pm on Sat Feb 9 at Sonic Boom Records, 512 Bloor St. W. If so inclined, you can preview all of Pt.2 here at Stereogum: http://stereogum.com/archives/the-outsiders/the-outsiders-vol-3_007620.htm I also have two solo releases out: "Fragile Movements in Slow Motion," a 3" cd ep, on Universal Tongue and "Suchness #1" which features a live performance in Philadelphia last February (lovingly recorded by Scott Slimm of Archive Records), on Gears of Sand Records: http://univtongue.blogspot.com/ http://gearsofsand.net

From Crucial Blast: We mentioned last month that Crucial Blast will be releasing the new album from Nadja, Desire In Uneasiness, later this Spring. We've set April 8th as the street date for that release, and we'll be offering a limited edition preorder shirt/cd package a month or so before the street date. The artwork for the album is completed, and I just put the cover art on the Upcoming Releases page so you can take a look at that...the art for this album is radically different from any of Nadja's previous releases, but then again the music on Desire... explores some new territory for the band too, the addition of a real live drummer taking the band down some new paths of psychedelic wandering and jazzy atmosphere while maintaining the brutally grinding bass groove and beautifully corrosive shoegazer guitar distortion that makes up Nadja's sound. I'll be posting some MP3 segements and a sample track from Desire... here soon for everyone to check out. The CD will be packaged in a Stoughton gatefold jacket and it's going to look amazing.
Sweet. I will try and get the pre order. |
I should go to that release party, since I buy all my albums at Sonic Boom anyways.
/Jealous.
:p Enjoy it though. |
I've never even listened to Nadja so now you should be twice as jealous.
