I got a great CD called An Overdose of Heavy Pysch. It is awesome..

Bartender 07-18-2005 08:50 AM
I listened to Shpongle today as well. I melt with joy every time I play Tales of the Inexpressible.

And Amazon.co.uk finally started selling their new one, so I'll have that as soon as it makes it over the pond and to my mailbox.
Why Amazon.co.uk?

Zappa 07-18-2005 10:37 AM

Because Amazon.com does not yet sell it.

Bartender 07-18-2005 11:39 AM

I should have thought it would be something that simple.

thirdeyeblindislit 07-18-2005 11:47 AM

I'm actually really likeing Reggie and the full effect, especially their song "Get Well Soon", and I also like a local AZ band that you can check out on purevolume.com called Dream State, once called Casey Jones. They are great!

ATM 07-18-2005 11:51 AM

Wow, Esbjorn Svenssons Trio are amazing. If you like jazz, check them out. They are very Radiohead influenced.

Just got back from Intonation and it was quite amazing. So all those bands and all the records I bought are currently spinning. Excellent festival, but damned hot.

Mr Observations 07-18-2005 03:04 PM

I dig anyone with tha moves, and Talking Heads have sure as heck got tha moves.

And Aphex Twin, hes gottha moves too.

Iai 07-18-2005 05:46 PM

Common - Be (4.5/5)
Kate Bush - The Dreaming (3/5)

Also some Juno Reactor.
How unbelievable was Les Savy Fav? I almost caught a sweat-sponge.
Haha! Yeah, Tim Harrington is a complete madman. Loved their performance. I particularly got into the Hold Steady. I just love their music and later in the day I had the opportunity to meet and talk with their frontman, Craig Finn. Asked him a question about a small aspect of Separation Sunday's word usage and concept. And of course told him how much I enjoyed his set and his work.

It struck me as odd that I could see all these major players at Intonation walking around and no one had a clue. I saw Jason Molina, Craig Finn, and Jesse from DFA1979 just walking around the merch/record tables. Surreal.

asymm 07-18-2005 06:03 PM
I actually asked a friend why there were no band members walking around the grounds before/after their sets. I didn't notice a single one. It would have been awesome to have met Tim Harrington or Jamie Stewart.
Just odd luck then I guess. Yeah, meeting those two would be amazing. I'd particularly like to meet Jamie Stewart. I was very surprised/amused at his performance. He hardly touched Fabulous Muscles and it's by far his most listened to record. Plus he ignored the crowd's wishes! While I was satisfied hearing the La Foret material, my friends were annoyed and didn't like that material nearly as much.

Little Man being Erased 07-18-2005 10:29 PM

So far today I've listened to:

Minus the Bear - Highly Refined Pirates
Not exceedingly excellent, but enjoyable enough for a listen every now and then.
3.5/5

Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
I like this album quite a lot, but I think it still needs to grow on me a little further. I have also discovered that this album needs to be listened to at high volume.
4.2/5

pixiesfanyo 07-18-2005 10:34 PM

Hey Nacho and Asymm.

How'd the sexual experience go?

I haven't been digging this thread lately.

pixiesfanyo 07-18-2005 11:28 PM
I'm not digging the album in your avatar.
Ambient 2 is much better.

leiferikson 07-19-2005 06:05 AM

Im liking Ambulance Ltd.'s lp a lot at this exact point in time as you are reading this.

br3ad_man 07-19-2005 06:25 AM

I need some new music I think. I'm starting to like Illinois though, finally.

Giaeo 07-19-2005 11:55 AM

I've been listening to Rain Dogs by Tom Waits. Good album.

Dog 07-19-2005 12:37 PM

Devendra Banhart - Cripple Crow

Luxor 07-19-2005 12:52 PM

Lots of Death Cab lately. The new track really grew on me, and made me want to to listen to them more. I'm listening to You Can Play These Songs With Chords, the most under-rated album they have.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's their best so far.

It's a very awesome album. Almost my favourite as well. I'm tied between that and We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes. The Smiths cover on YCSWTC is so good.

Luxor 07-19-2005 01:11 PM

Yeah, it's so good. The new stuff is too over-produced.

Iai 07-19-2005 01:23 PM

Art Blakey - Moanin' (4/5)

Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary (2/5)

John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band (1/5 - only listened because I'm reviewing it)

Not a great day in all.

Luxor 07-19-2005 01:25 PM

Diary? 2/5? C'mon.

Iai 07-19-2005 01:30 PM

Didn't enjoy it in the slightest.

Sorry to go all Zappa on ya.... :p
