Robocop should be a little less crash happy but otherwise that's a tight song.

I watched that Bob Saget stand-up on HBO the other night. You're right; it was ****ing weird. It seemed like he would try to recover every awkward moment by swearing a large ammount and insulting his teenage daughter. I've come to the conclusion his sadistic performance is just an attempt to divorce his previous career from his new more "mature" image though. When it comes down to it though, I believe everyone still has the conotation of Danny Tanner.

Well, he admits that he adds on the shock value to shed his wholesome image, but the main problem with that stand-up isn't the swearing it's the general lack of focus. He can't stay on an anecdote long enough to deliver a punchline, so he goes on random tangents picking on some poor guy in the audience.

I've seen other stuff from him and it's more focused, so I'll just assume he was either nervous or high on the HBO thing. Regardless, he's short on material and more or less does the same jokes over and over (see: Danny Tanner Was Not Gay).

Nostalgia 09-26-2007 12:13 AM

Yeah, the Danny Tanner thing was seriously retarded. All in all, the guy is way too annoying to be funny in my opinion. He just has no features of his personality that would make me think of him on any comedic level.

Yeah, I'm assuming he was stoned. A lot of times he'd just start an opener then get distarcted and ultimately go back to it 5 minutes later. For someone who's been in the entertainment business for so long, he sure displayed such an amature performance

Tyler 09-26-2007 12:15 AM

Eh, I'm not even surprised. His entire career now is based around college stoners that can say LOL I GOT HIGH WITH DANNY TANNER HE TOLD ME RAPE JOKES!

He's just capitalizing in the easiest way possible. I can't really blame him.

...except he was like this before he was a TV dad.

ATM 09-26-2007 07:38 AM

He's coming to my school soon and I was debating on going.

pate 09-26-2007 07:39 AM

Go. If it's free for students.

ATM 09-26-2007 07:40 AM

Yea, it is.

pate 09-26-2007 07:47 AM

Go for it. We get stuff like that all the time, but it's never free. Jim Gaffigan 2 weeks ago was $10 for students/$20 for public. We had Ron Jeremy like 2 years ago, and that was free.

It's odd that the one with the most demand, RJ, they made free, but then they charge for other stuff that nobody cares about.

StreetlightRock 09-26-2007 08:09 AM

Hahahaha, Ron Jeremy.

Jim Gaffigan is kinda funny, but kinda annoying.

RJ was alright. A lot of stinkers, but some funny stuff. I'm a big Jim Gaffigan fan, so he was great.

jrowa001 09-26-2007 08:31 AM

my school gets comedians all the time that are free to see. we've had Jo Koy, Aries Spears, Bobby Lee, Jim Gaffigan, Nick Swardson, Josh Blue, and the one and only Zach Galifianakis

Jom 09-26-2007 10:08 AM

We had Daniel Tosh come by last year, I think it was. Some of his bits are pretty good, but there is a lot of overlap between his first Comedy Central Presents: performance and his one-hour special ('Completely Serious,' I think?). If there's a free event, you should go if you think it's worth your time. Every year we get a hypnotist and it is always new and different every year, despite it being the same guy, which I think is cool.

Yeah that was really good, it's funny because you keep expecting it to go where it never does, in spite of the obvious rhymes that are set up but never used.

Kage 09-26-2007 12:02 PM

Yeah. And it looks like he really has to strain to hold back from saying the vulgarities.

We got Zach Galifagakis too. I didn't go.

I found out today that on October 15, Elvis Costello is playing here.  I already think I'll be busy that night. :p

Bazarov 09-26-2007 12:19 PM

I saw Zach Galifianakis with Sarah Silverman about 2 months ago. I wasn't expecting Silverman to be as funny as she was. Anyway, Zach made me laugh so hard it brought me to tears.

publicastration 09-26-2007 12:21 PM

I don't find Sarah Silverman funny at all.

Bazarov 09-26-2007 12:25 PM

Neither do I. At least not her show. But some of the stuff she said that night made me laugh pretty damn hard. Especially her bit about how everyone wins when they have an abortion.

Deth 09-26-2007 12:45 PM

I can't stand Sarah Silverman. I found her joke about 9/11 appalling. She needs a good beatdown to get her mind in order.

Eliminator 09-26-2007 12:59 PM

her show sucks but i saw one of her standup specials on comedy central one late night and i thought it was okay/funny

I like Sarah Silverman. I've not seen her show, though, so maybe I wouldn't like that.

Zach Galifianakis is alright, but I've not yet seen whatever it is other people seem to see in him, though.
