Eating strawberries and reading One Piece. I kind of wanted to read something light hearted after Berserk.

I collected One Piece for a little while, I'd say it's definitely above par for Shonen Jump stuff. It has a charm and, I don't know, humanity to it that's absent from Naruto, Bleach, or whatever lowbrow series you want to name.

Finally got a PSX emulator working, played 5 or 6 hours of FF7. I named Barrett 'Jolson' :lol: I'm not incredibly impressed so far but my expectations have been building forever so it was impossible to really be wowed by it. It's competent. So far I've heard every piece of music in the game before. It's so integral to video game culture that the whole thing feels familiar even though I've never played it before.

I think ff7 really shines once you get out of Midgar and the battle options start to open up.

Yeah I just finished the flashback section with Sephiroth going crazy and all. I'm hoping this is 'the' part where the game really starts. Like in FFX, you put 5 hours in and get to the Mi'ihen Highroad and that's where the beginning of the real game is. God, I've played FFX so many times it's ridiculous

I have an intense, irrational love for X so I'm not hoping for me to like this more than it. I just don't like active time battle systems, and I never have. I have no clue why anyone would prefer it to one where you aren't rushed and can be strategic. It's an artificial way to make it more "exciting", but it isn't more [i]fun[/i] for me because I enjoy planning my moves for the best result. In active time it feels as though every move is a compromise.

I don't like it because you are so confined when it comes to what you can do in the battles. You can't do summons, no enemy skills, little to no command materia etc. My favorite part about ff7 is the battle system and in midgar you just have dinky little lvl 1 spells and basic attacks.

Yeah I really like One Piece, it's a lot of fun. I've heard a lot of people say it's the spiritual successor to dragonball and I agree.

I like ATB but I like traditional turn based too. The only one I don't like is real time battle.

The thing is I play RPGs when I want a slower, more thoughtful experience and the battle system is like an appeal to people who only want action games. RPGs are the little kid who gets picked on for studying so they turn goth but the bully is still picking on them because they're just a different kind of weirdo.
