I saw this on their site or somewhere the other day, and I knew it wasn't your name. Still ****ing awesome you played with them.
Well owing to the errr... cosy nature of their rehearsal rooms I got to see Al bust out those solos from less than 2 foot and had Terry directly in front of me singing like he was doing Wembly Arena. You have to hand it to these guys, they're not exactly teenagers anymore but after 3 hours rehearsal I was knackered and they were going "OK what shall we do next?". Pretty impressive when you consider I'm 30 years younger than Terry!
Sounds like an amazing experience. Shame you didn't get it, but hell, your one of the few people who'll ever be able to say;
I played with Pagan Altar!
Consider it done. I know I'm all excited about listening to two albums everyone in here has heard 100 times.

Not specifically Eastern, but I enjoy reading about philosophy and religion.

And Nadja, one of my favorite bands has a song on their latest album, influenced by the Bhagavad Gita.
:)

rattlehead42147 01-17-2008 12:56 PM

I left you a lengthy neg rep message :)

The Bhaghavad Gita is one of the best pieces of literature ever written, I may have to check out Nadja now.

/adds to "to-get" list
EDIT: would you recommend an album specifically? They've got quite a few it seems.

I repped you back. :)

As for Nadja, I recommend Body Cage as a starter.
Enjoy!

repcak 01-17-2008 01:13 PM

i have a problem with philosophy since ... yeah, you know the story about my christian fundamental girl who is living with me right? she is studying philosophy and since a half year, i have a problem with philosophy.... 90% of my philosophy knowledge is meanwhile through her and i cannot stand it anymore :p

but philosophy is great, though... it just depends how you interpretate it (she is doing it wrong - ^^) whatever.

gmoneyguy 01-17-2008 01:18 PM

She is willing to suspend logic and reason to fit her preconceived ideals. Which defeats the purpose of philosophy.
marry me
same, I pretty much enjoy all types of religious/philosophical lit. unless its extremely dry or just "out there".

gmoneyguy 01-17-2008 01:19 PM

I take it, you don't care much for metaphysics and epistemology.

I think the other two OM albums are very boring. Confrence is all I like by them, but it is a near perfect record.

I can see how you would find them boring, but thats why I love them. I love the eastern tinged drone feel they have going one.
I take it, you don't care much for metaphysics and epistemology.
I'm familiar with both but I haven't studied either one so I can't really say. They might "click" for me once I check them out, but if something is really dry then I'll generally set it aside until I'm ready for it. I'll need to investigate those for sure.
I love the eastern tinged drone feel they have going one.
I think that's what did it for me, I'm a fan.

gmoneyguy 01-17-2008 01:33 PM

Metaphysics = Ultimate Reality
Epistemology = Study of what really know.

Confrence has that too, but somehow that does sound interesting. The new OM was one of the bigger let down albums of last year for me.

Sounds extremely interesting and I'm going to look into both. Get on AIM.

I'm at work, I'll be able to get in about 3 hours

rattlehead42147 01-17-2008 01:54 PM

Guys, I'm totally into Hinduism.

I eat cows.

Nostalgia 01-17-2008 03:44 PM

I think I may like The Strength to Dream over Watching From a Distance. TStD has really flat-sounding and dormant vocals but they're really great once you add the lyrics into the mix.
