Of course they're good, Kraftwerk are the best facking band ever. :)

Mr Observations 07-16-2005 10:34 AM

I dunno if theyre my favourite ever, but they're sure as hell influential. Ya know, what with practically creating electronic music and influencing almost every band that sprang from the 80s.

I think Trans Europe Express is my favourite album of theirs, or maybe Computer World. Who cares, they're all awesome.

Iai 07-16-2005 10:35 AM

Mine's The Man-Machine. But yeah, pre-The Mix, they're all great.

Anxious 07-16-2005 11:12 AM

Sun City Girls-Torch of the Mystics

Thanks to the Cameo Role.

The NPC 07-16-2005 02:03 PM

The Urinals

ToolBox 07-16-2005 02:22 PM

The Arcade Fire and The Magic Numbers (thanks Iai!)

Robert Crumb 07-16-2005 02:25 PM
Yummy.
Agreed.

The only thing I've really been listening to is Television Personalities. But now I'm thinking I may put on an Al Green album after it goes through.

Parfait 07-16-2005 07:37 PM

With all the black soul and rap music you like, "Robert Crumb," it surprises me you don't seem to be much of a jazz fan.

Robert Crumb 07-16-2005 09:11 PM

Or much of a blues fan. Crumb was big on blues, too. He did a great comic about the life and times of Charlie Patton. But yeah, I'm a mediocre fan of both genres at best. I'm learning. I've still got a pretty large queue of jazz albums to get hold of.

ATM 07-16-2005 09:12 PM

He did an awesome picture of Robert Johnson.

Robert Crumb 07-16-2005 09:18 PM

Yep, saw it on his website. Very handsome piece.

Parfait 07-17-2005 12:43 AM

I just sat in the dark with my glasses off and listened to Ambient 1: Music for Airports by Brian Eno and wrote (typed) how it made me think and feel. It was a fantastic experience.

Interstate 07-17-2005 05:08 AM

Hot Snakes - Suicide Invoice
Foo Fighters - The Colour And The Shape

ATM 07-17-2005 08:30 AM

The National are pretty cool.

Parfait 07-17-2005 10:40 AM

I'm listening to the teaser track from the new Blackalicious album right now, and it's good. Restores my faith that this album will rule, despite Gift's sort of lackluster solo record.

The track can be found at www.solesides.com, as the second news item for June 27.

I like to type without my glasses, too. It's kind of liberating in some odd way.

It's my elder sister's birthday today so that, in conjunction with the birthday song thread, has me thinking about birthday party songs and The Birthday Party in general.

Sweet! Downloading now...

I finally managed to pick up a copy of Deltron 3030 on the weekend, so obviously, I've been diggin' that (in the small amount of time I had for listening to music over the weekend).

The NPC 07-17-2005 04:18 PM

The Fall - Hex Enduction Hour LP
Beat Happening - Black Candy

ATM 07-17-2005 04:19 PM

The Blue Van - The Art of Rolling

Little Man being Erased 07-17-2005 04:21 PM

So, that new Blackalicious song is pretty dang great.

Zappa 07-17-2005 06:15 PM

Indeed.

Love that album.

Happymeal 07-17-2005 08:53 PM

Oxes
Melvins
Antibalas
Richard Hell & The Voidoids(I really love his singing)

Little Man being Erased 07-17-2005 09:35 PM

Deltron 3030
Okkervil River
Kraftwerk
John Coltrane
Shpongle

Zappa 07-17-2005 10:23 PM

I listened to Shpongle today as well. I melt with joy every time I play Tales of the Inexpressible.

And Amazon.co.uk finally started selling their new one, so I'll have that as soon as it makes it over the pond and to my mailbox.

Little Man being Erased 07-17-2005 10:31 PM

I've only heard the new one, it's bloody great. I have it downloaded, thanks to Iai. I haven't been able to find any of their albums around here.

Zappa 07-17-2005 11:22 PM

I decided I didn't want to download the thing before it was available to purchase, since I just make a rule against downloading unauthorized (as in, not up on an official website) pre-release material.

Now that it's available, I decided to just shell out for it after all. I've been patient.

Little Man being Erased 07-17-2005 11:34 PM

Yeah, I'm usually the same, I never like to hear something before its release, I rarely download entire albums at all. But if it's something that's not available in Australia or really difficult to find, I consider downloading.

Zappa 07-17-2005 11:36 PM

I prefer to download things from the 90s or earlier (because it saves a lot of money, and the people involved with actually making the record probably don't need the money, due to death etc), and I like to purchase releases from the past 4+ years.

magicbus 07-17-2005 11:41 PM

I started listening to Funkadelic yesterday. Now I love it.
