I get bored of a genre after about a week and then return to it a month later, haha. Metalcore included.

whatever works for you. ive been listening to metalcore for about a year, year and half, and i am no where close to getting tired of it.

Seriously though, metalcore is such a broad term for hardcore with metal elements - there are so many variations, I find it hard to get bored of it as a genre. Sure, I get bored of certain bands and whatnot.

Metalcore is sweet. I like how As I Lay Dying went and changed their extremely generic sound on their new record. An Ocean Between Us is disgustingly good. Unearth is epic. All That Remains is a great band. Atreyu was pretty decent. There are a lot of up and comers out there too, Protest the Hero and the Human Abstract are extremely technical metalcore, Parkway Drive too.

The problem is none of the bands try to separate themselves from the others.

Most of the metalcore I hear these days sounds pretty similar. But I'm not really educated I suppose, so if you can show me some good original metalcore bands that aren't Botch or Converge, I'll agree with you.

Converge being Metalcore is quite debatable.

He's probably referring to the fact that they are dissimilar to most modern day bands that are considered metalcore (eg. Trivium (ugh)).

Pretty much, they exhibit no similarities to modern metalcore bands.

Converge are in a pretty tight niche as far as I know.
